As photographers, we all occasionally get stuck. There are times when we lack inspiration, and lose focus (see what I did there?) on what to shoot next. We need motivation to break from our routines, but there aren’t always good sources to turn to for creative photography ideas. We need to be challenged.
Today, the Creative Photography Challenge video series kicked off, and we’re already overwhelmed by the excitement and positive reactions from those who have joined.
For those of you that haven’t signed up yet, here’s a little info about what this is all about, an why you should join this free video series:
As fellow photographers, we know exactly how you feel. We’ve all felt drained of ideas of what to shoot next. This is why our team got together and designed a series of short, snackable videos that will help you discover and harness new photography techniques.
Not only will these videos be delivered directly to your inbox every 3 days for just over a month, but you’ll be inspired by our community of fellow photographers that are participating in this challenge right along with you.
The challenges are simple; each video is under five minutes long, so they won’t take forever to watch, and you can complete each challenge in just a few minutes or take an entire weekend to really hone in on your new skills.
Check out the intro video:
The goal of putting these creative photography ideas together, is to push you beyond your normal photographic comfort zones.
Some of these challenges might seem a bit different than what you would normally shoot. That’s ok. We encourage… no, we dare you to try them anyway.
The act of pushing yourself to try new techniques, will help train your brain to think outside the box. You will approach your next shoot with new inspiration and creativity, and you will grow as a photographer.
By the end of the last challenge, we fully expect you to have your own ideas for future challenges – and we want to hear them!
Here is the list of challenges we will be prompting you to complete:
We’re a group of fun-loving, light-hearted photographers who love working at CreativeLive. We all have various levels of experience, and take different kinds of photos, but all of us have reached various points where we have stalled creatively.
We always want to progress as photographers, but sometimes it can be challenging thinking up ideas without guidance.
So we got together, and came up with a list of creative photography ideas that we have experimented with in the past, that have helped us individually push beyond those creative blocks.
We’re a bunch of friends who love taking photos, and have a great time doing it.
While we don’t claim to be experts, we have all learned a lot over the course of our photography careers, and we have deepened that knowledge significantly by enrolling in many of our amazing CreativeLive photography classes.
Ultimately, we put this whole thing together because we are just like you. We are all constantly striving to improve our photos, and sometimes we need a little help with creative ideas. So we challenge you to experiment, step outside of your comfort zone, and try some new techniques with us.
If you have questions for us, we gotchu. Join the Creative Photography Challenge Facebook group to ask us anything, and share your experiences with your fellow photographers!
Want to participate in the challenge, but feeling like your missing some of the key photography skills? Well I have some good news for you: for a limited time CreativeLive is having it’s huge bi-annual sale on the ENTIRE catalog of amazing photography classes! Can’t figure out which one to get? See this list of my favorite online photography courses.
Just hit the blue sign-up button on the main Creative Photography Challenge page, and create a free account if don’t have one already.
That’s it, you’re in.
Then, you will begin receiving an email 2-3 times per week, bringing you each short video right to your inbox.
Watch the video, plan your shoot, and then go out and make it happen.
If you’re feeling extra bold, we highly encourage you to put your own twist on these techniques as well (hint: we tend to love featuring fellow photographers that try something creative and cool).
Upload your photos to Instagram, and use the hashtag, #creativephotochallenge. Get your friends in on this, and submit as many as you like.
We will comb through the submissions every week, and feature our favorites in blog posts, on Instagram, Facebook, and throughout the site (giving you the credit of course).
We also have started a Facebook group specifically for this purpose, so you can share your experience and results with the community. If at the end of this challenge, you have your own ideas for additional challenges, let us know! We’d love to hear your ideas and suggestions.
Now sign up and have some fun with it!
