YouTube is an incredible platform for growing an audience, building a brand, and marketing your business. Arguably, every business should be using it. However, you must be very thoughtful about the video content you put online.
As the world’s second largest search engine, you can’t afford to be missing out on YouTube as a marketing channel. The most important question to ask yourself rather than should I be using YouTube? is really, what should I be making for YouTube?
In this video, Becki Crosby aka Whippy Cake, shares her top considerations for any business to evaluate what type of content they should be putting on YouTube.
What Field Are You in?
When you think about it, you’ve probably found yourself on YouTube sometime in the past, looking for tutorials or how-to’s when you’re trying to edit a photo in Photoshop, find a cool DIY project, or even tips for how to fix your leaking refrigerator.
YouTube is great for authors to upload tips and brief video segments, going over topics that are covered more in-depth in their books. Perhaps you could give some insights into backstory behind the characters that would otherwise not have been known. It’s a natural call-to-action at the end of a short video like this, to ask viewers to purchase the book for even more resources and insights on the topic.
Realtors can create videos for homeowners who are searching for ways to boost the value of their homes before putting it on the market. By building a relationship with a family looking for tips before selling their home, a realtor that already provides value without asking for anything in exchange, will be a natural choice for reaching out to once it’s time to sell.
At it’s core, your business is helping people solve problems. The question you need to be asking yourself is what problems can you help your potential clients solve through YouTube videos?
