Great Course. Totally worth it! Techniques still relevant and useful in 2021. I got a lot of value from this course.
-
this is a great class! i play drums personally, and i love percussion! he also teaches well
-
Kris is methodical and goes over everything related to drum recording in great detail. He covers heads and even how much moon gel he uses for damping the heads, Mic placement, shell choice( size, wood etc ). Listen to Dance Gavin Dance to hear some of his work. I found this class to be super informative and very practical in it's approach. Thank you Kris !

This class was extremely helpful! I learned soooo much. Andrew is a pro and it is absolutely worth the money. Specifically the tuning section of the class. Did not think to put this much effort into tuning, but it makes perfect sense! You can have the tightest band, with the best musicians, the most expensive gear, with amazing tones, but if they are even slightly out of tune its literally a bottleneck for the whole sound of the song. Thanks Andrew!

Andrew is the man! he's a genius at getting great modern guitar tones in the most efficient ways possible. I've totally changed my recording workflow after taking this course. Would highly recommend to everyone :)

This is an amazing class! Kris is a very scientific instructor. This really opened my eyes to the drum recording process. Take Notes!!!! There are about a thousand unique facts and techniques that you should know. This will help you to record drums correctly at the source so that you can minimize the amount of digital destruction you will do later and thus get a "Professional" sound.

I think for people who have less knowledge, this might be a great course. Overall, it wasn't that bad, and I learned a couple of things, but for a production veteran, this isn't your course. This is for beginners. I agree with another reviewer that Mr. Wade seemed less prepared than he should be. In one particular case, one of the audience participants directly contradicted what he was saying (that more insulation in an offset stud wall is better) and he then reversed his position on the spot. He seemed very nervous at that point, and at many other points unsure of what he was saying. Generally speaking, he spoke at a very deliberately slow cadence, which certainly helps comprehension, but in this case seemed to be more an artifact of doubt in what he was going to convey. But if you're a beginner, this is a fantastic course. The upside to Mr. Wade's pace is that a beginner can take in all the information without taking notes and successfully retain everything conveyed. Much of the basics of vocal production is covered here, including an decent overview of mic utilization, basic EQ usage. I felt like much more time could have been given for compression in general as it related to vocal recording. I would purchase (and have) courses by Mr. Wade in the future - I just wouldn't give this one a 9 or a 10 out of 10. I would give it a 7.

I learned more about guitar tone (sims in particular) in 2 days than I did in 6 months stumbling around youtube. The impulse alone is worth the money for the class. I would love to see Wade do a mixing or mastering class. While Eyal's courses were good...Andrew is a step above.

I've been a fan of Andrew Wades work for a couple of years now and I've been recording/mixing for about the same amount of time. This course took my guitar tracks from sounding super muddy to being able to make them clear and sit into my mix very well. He shows techniques to make editing much smoother and less time consuming. In my opinion, the impulse response you get with this course is worth at least half of the price of this course. Anyone wanting immediate results for full, better sounding rock/metal guitars, BUY THIS COURSE!

I've only completed a small portion of the course so far but I'm loving it. As a bit of an amateur, there are a lot of "tricks of the trade" that I never knew, which is why I enrolled in the first place. I like Andrew's relaxed style and the wealth of knowledge he brings. I can't wait to get to work on some of the tips given. Cheers, Jamie

This is a superb course, was full of great informations and it has inspired me a lot. Learned alot of things, thanks to Andrew for this great presentation and sharing his knowledge and experience with us, also thanks to the people in the audience for bringing up good question and to the creative live team for making this happen. I really hope Andrew will come back to Creative Live someday, perhaps with a full course especially about working out and creating vocal harmonies :-)

Tons of good info in this class for anyone just getting started in their home. To professionals looking for some new techniques to use, or learning to be more efficient while recording, editing, and mixing.

What Neil said below, I completely disagree with, It is all the little things that make a great track. You can have a million dollars worth of equipment but if you don't understand all the lithe nuances that go into this kind of work, you will never get professional result. I thought this class was very informative and extremely helpful. I would have paid 500 dollars easy for this class. 5 out of 5

Absolutely essential information in this course. Very in depth. Even if you went and interned at a studio with a reputable producer, it would probably take months to absorb all the information so cohesively laid out in the course. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to properly record their own vocals, or for anyone looking to record other bands (whether in a bedroom, or a million dollar studio). Loved watching, learned a TON (learned a lot of great pro tools shortcuts as well). Well worth the money. Thanks for doing it Mr. Wade.

Lots of great info for people that don't know to much about recording. I enjoyed the class and came away with a lot more knowledge that will help me to achieve much better recordings compared to my past recordings. I look forward to any classes he may have in the future.

A lot of great info in here. Awesome to get a look into the mind of "Big Boss". Thoroughly enjoyed!

great stuff. i learned a lot of useful things i would never thought of myself

Berklee College of Music Graduate here '03. I came across a snippet of this course on youtube and the tip about HP the DI to get low end was enough for me to decide to buy the course. One of the things I found so great about this course is how well creativeLive has put this together. From the high def multi-camera shoot, to the screen capture, to the included downloadable slides and Wade's Mesa cabinet IR, the production is very well put together. Kudos to creativeLive, you are doing the right thing. I was very impressed how articulate Andrew Wade was, not to mention that he was willing to share his production techniques. He really thought this through and takes you from very basic steps for preparation prior to tracking, to editing, all the way through to mixing. Additionally, Wade does this all without ego. What a like-able guy! I'd recommend this course to any aspiring engineer/DIY band member, especially if you are going after super tight, highly-polished guitar tracks we see in today's modern productions. The course is a look inside the mind of a talented and caring audio engineer and his philosophy/full-disclosure-techniques for recording guitar. Awesome. Think of it this way...if you have $99 play money and you're thinking of buying a plug-in over this course, please reconsider. The techniques you learn in this course will last you a lifetime and will improve your sound dramatically. Looking forward to more audio production related content in the future!

Awesome, I am a big fan of A Day to Remember and aways wanted to know how their songs were made. Now I know some nice techniques by their own producer. I thing this workshop is not only for producers but for every person who play on a band. Now CreativeLive should call Rick Rubin to do the same.
