Are you serious about learning studio lighting? And are you looking for inspiration to create more innovative lighting setups? Celebrity photographer and lighting expert Clay Patrick McBride will show you how to master your lighting skills and create your playbook of lighting diagrams.

With three one-day classes, Clay will cover the power and control available with a single light, how to freeze time and capture motion detail, and how to creatively use gels for colorful looks in camera.

This bundle of classes will help you create incredible images with repeatable results by focusing on lighting intentionally and documenting your results.

In One-Light Wonder, he’ll go into detail on controlling light, using light shapers, and how to focus on shadows and sculpting.

Lighting with Gels is an in-depth course on how to effectively and creatively incorporate gels into your setups. Clay will show you how to control color in camera and use it for impact and energy.

High-Speed Photography is all about capturing motion, action and detail. Through an understanding of high speed flash, direction and composition, you will be able to create photos that freeze time.

I really enjoyed the course and have learned a few new techniques. Every photographer is a different artist, and I do not try to judge them by the way they proceed, but by the knowledge they have, use, and are able to teach. Clay and Chris have great teamwork and a lot of fun with this.

I agree with Alison, i think this could have been so much better. Too much tampering around on set, i like the small talk and the model talks, love his presence, very charismic, the only thing that kept me watching although i did fast forward some bits. just too slow and not much info.

This is experimenting! And I love it, if you are creative you cannot always predict the outcome, it is always trial and error and enjoying your mistakes, you have to have some balls if you dare to do this with an audience... Thumbs up for Clay Patrick! I have to say though, this light assistant really is annoying... Anybody agree's with me?

I enjoyed Clay's workshop, he is very methodical, and had clear simple explanations for the various shoots. I am excited to experiment with different lighting because he made it seem easy. As he mentioned "start small and make it bigger, bigger, bigger. Thanks!

I found Clay's classes and teaching style worked very well for me. For example, Clay's method of first testing one light in a multiple light set-up and the adding the other lights one-by-one was great. I recommend this class for anyone working to add different lighting styles to their work.

Great class if you're wanting to learn how to work with gels! This class will take you through the process step by step as you build your shooting playbook. I enjoyed Clay's honest and simple approach. Clay and his assistant, Chris, make a great team as they show how gels work and show you what not to do. They make learning fun!

Awesome intro to lighting. I love Clay's teaching style and his personality infused presentation was a pleasure. I highly recommend this course.

    Great class!! Awesome teacher.

If I had purchased this class prior to actually seeing it, I would be very upset. The presenter seemed rather helpless and his assistant did most of the work. His delivery was, in my opinion, sadly lacking. Due to the fact that I was a lighting designer for theater, I was hoping to get much more out of this class than actually happened.

Enjoying every minute of this class.

WOW! I was getting ready to go to bed, when I saw this class last night as I was perusing the classes available. Got the notification that it was playing, so I thought I'd check it out for a minute or two. Well, once I turned it on, I couldn't turn it off! As someone who has shot musicians on stage since I was 16, I've recently been interested in shooting portraits of them, so Clay instantly intrigued me! The more I watched, the more I couldn't shut it off, and I stayed up til 5:30 in the morning to finish the course (financial issues, so I can't afford the class right now) This class is amazing! I love Clay's teaching style, his willingness to step outside the box and play by his own rules, and his lighting is awesome! As soon as it is possible, I WILL be purchasing this class! Loved it! Thanks again CreativeLive for introducing me to yet another outstanding photographer to learn from!

Great lighting class. He is a great instructor, I have learned a lot! Thanks!

  • DOlores R. Aug 21, 2017

Great intro to lighting and best way to use it. I like all the info you gave. Might help in the presentation however if you eliminated the comment "Right?" that I counted over 10 times in 5 minutes. It's very distracting. Right?

I absolutely loved this. Great instruction, great content and very inspiring demonstrations. I'd highly recommend this course

This cat is Awesome. I can see Clay and Uncle Joe McNally, maybe or maybe not after a song from the bong, walking and talking down any city streets in the world and capturing and sculpting the beauty of light in that black box.
