How To Create Your Logo

I'm gonna walk you through how to create a logo for your Shopify store without having to hire a designer. Now, of course there are a lot of different places. You can go in, a lot of great resources, You can go to get an amazing design done by a professional. So there's always that option. But if you just kind of want to get your hands dirty at first and you want to build your own logo and you have zero graphic design or Photoshop experience, there's a really neat tool that I'd like to show you and it's called canvas. So you can go to Canada dot com and you can get a free account here and a complete novice can create a really nice looking logo for their store. Or you can create banners, facebook ads, all sorts of stuff from here. So right now we are in the member's area of my free canvas account and they will allow me to look at all of my previous designs. So these are just designs I use playing around and then up here at the top they allow me to choose from different types of I guess d...

imensions like Facebook, add dimension, photo collage, business card dimension. Um you can also do your own custom dimensions. So let's go ahead and click use custom dimensions. And I want to say that I want this image to be 400 by 200 because Shopify recommends that your logo is about 400 pixels wide. So we're gonna hit design and it's gonna create a blank slate for us. So here is our clean and blank slate but 400 by 200. All right. Now what we could do over here on the left hand side is, and I'm gonna see if I could zoom in a little bit for you. Okay? I don't think I can. All right. So on the left hand side, you've got search, you've got layout elements, um, you've got text and you've got background. Okay? Now this is all dragon drop, it's all point and click. You do not have to be a graphic designer to make a really nice looking logo. And as a matter of fact, this is what a lot of people that own Shopify stores use in the beginning. Right. And then later on, you can always upgrade your logo and get a professional designer to make one. That's super cool. Once you are positive that this is the direction you want to go with your brand, that's exactly what I did actually. So anyways, um, on this clean slate, we're going to create a very nice looking logo for a shop. Um, the name of this example shop that I've created is the bark shop. I don't own that domain. It's literally just an example. All right. So, um, it's actually a really good name. I'm sure somebody else out there thought of it, But this is an example and we're going to create the bark shops logo. Okay, so let's come over here and buy search up here at the top left. We can search through a million plus images. I'm just going to type in paul print and you'll notice here that a lot of different paul print designs come up. Some of them are dollars. Some of them cost a little bit more. There should be some free options in here. How about I just come over here and type in paul instead of paul print. There we go. So here is a free images. Everybody see this. Look into the far left. Okay, so my mouse is kind of circling this one where it says free check this out. I'm gonna click it, I'm gonna drag and boom. I have now dropped it over here now that this is on our canvas, I can resize it by clicking on the corners and I can just make a bigger smaller. Um I can even twist it around if I want to, I can change the color of it, I can do all that good stuff. So I'm just gonna kind of tilted just a little bit right here. All right now, the next thing that we want to do with this image and you're gonna see this is all going to come together very nicely is click on text. So if you're on the far left and our our menu, we're going to click where it says text. Now don't get confused with all this stuff over here. They have all these different templates for texts and stuff. Um What I do is I just say I want to add a heading drag drop. I want another heading drag drop. Now wow, this is looking kind of ugly. Right? Don't worry. We're gonna make it look quite nice. So let's start with the first one. We're going to say the All right, and we're gonna make it bold and black. All right, so there we go, it's black. Now let's just say bark shop. All right, now I'm gonna delete. I don't know why that didn't delete. Okay, so now we've got the bark shop here. Um We're gonna make sure that this is black, we can make it a bit smaller. So how about 32 now? You can see I basically I'm just clicking stuff and dragging and dropping it uh to wherever I wanted to be. All right, so now that we've got like our main elements here, you can kind of see how this is all coming together very quickly, Right? We've got our main elements uh we can start playing with stuff like the font, so we just highlight bark shop and let's say we want to use this font right here, I think it looks a bit nicer. Um we just click up at the top left and we say we would like to use al erian heavy or however you pronounce that. I'm from Mississippi, we just kind of pronounced things like, you know, we we uh sound them out letter by letter. All right. So we got the bark shop here, a couple of cool things we can do is we really want bark shop to look a bit bigger. So let's go ahead and put it to a 36 font here and you know, you can't screw this up if you just get in here and you play around a little bit and you make it um you make it your own it's you can always go back and undo stuff so you can see here that um now it's kind of like not fitting, so what I'll do is I'll just make it smaller again. All right, I'm not gonna spend too much time on this, but I just wanted you to see that this is a really cool fun way that you could come in and create a nice looking graphic. That's uh professional still and looks good. Alright, so I got the bark shop, we've got our big paul print over here. Let me just make sure this is there we go. Okay, now we can move it back. I love how easy this is. This is because I am not a graphic designer. So if for me the thought of having to do something like this um and Photoshop it literally makes me feel a little bit sick. If you're watching this, you might be a graphic designer, you might be like Adrian, this is really easy, what are you struggling for? Um because you know I'm not gonna graphic design now um bark shop, what we wanna do is we want to make this a different color and make it really stick out so we can choose colors. But what you really want to do is jump back over to your Shopify store and remember we made our header over here, this kind of teal color so I can very easily come back over to my general settings, go to colors and there it is primary content and I just grab that little color code. Now when I jump back over to Canada and I start uh changing the color. I can get those little plus sign bam bam. There we go now, the bark shop. There we go. So we've created a nice little logo right here. Now, of course you can come in if you have your own custom images and you can upload custom images here from like a royalty free company or I've gone to shutter stock dot com and I found some cool images. There's a bone right there. Here's an image of different types of dogs and you can take those images and you can upload them and you can place them on this file as well. So you can just drag and drop any image you want that you own the rights to and use them in this file once you're done and everything's good to go, the size is everything you wanted to be. Um, and you feel happy with your logo to start, All you have to do is come up here where it says download at the top. Hit download and boom. It's saving our design to our computer and we're about to be able to upload it to our Shopify store that simple. So let's go look at the file now. All right, So now we're back on our Shopify store and we are back to customizing the theme. What we want to do is we want to add our logo up here that we created to get rid of this text. So we're gonna come to sections and click on header and then right here where it says logo right here, we can select an image so we can go into our files and we can select this image. Um Alternatively I believe that you can drag and drop as well. So I'm just gonna take this image that we made and I'm going to drag and drop it right here and you're gonna see it's gonna replace the top of my store with our logo. So we've got a nice clean logo up here at the top, it says the bark shop, the colors match and everything. Um We can go in and we can edit this if we want to we can put our image all text here, which is great for S. E. O. So we'll want to put something like the bark shop in here, that's good for ranking on google, and then we can go and we can make this bigger. We can make it smaller, whatever we want to do from right here. So very, very cool. Uh to be able to do safe. And now we've got a very nice looking logo on our store now, you can always go back and you can of course change this, you can upgrade it, you can edit it. Uh This is just a very simple way to get your logo on your store Very quickly without having to wait weeks or anything like that for a designer. Um but in the future as you grow your brand, you might want to go to a place like 99 designs or up work wherever, hire a professional designer to create a logo for you. But I've seen so many people just be happy with the free, the free way of doing it on campus. That's up to you. That's how you can start out creating a free logo for your store and I hope you enjoyed this video. Go ahead to the next one and we're gonna talk about going in and creating your domain name and setting up like a real brand for your business. So I hope you're excited.
