Wedding Photography Problems and Solutions with Roberto Valenzuela

The whole assertion that it is the flash duration that controls flash output is patently false and technically incorrect. I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing from an experienced professional. If I reduce a 500-watt-seconds (WS) flash to 1/2 it yields 250WS of light. Shorter or longer duration only affects the ability to affect motion and has absolutely no effect whatsoever on light output. Other than that many of the points were good.

Roberto has a very friendly and effective teaching style. Like his other courses, here too, he teaches the fundamentals and the basics of what he says. I. have been doing wedding photography for several years, but still got to learn a lot from this course. Definitely recommend.

Brilliant instructor, teaches you to become independent critical eye and creator. Of course you will need to practice many, many times. I photographed my first wedding the week after taking 1/2 of this class. I was able to incorporate 15-20% of his teaching and that made a significant difference in my images as well as my confidence to move forward and direct my subjects meticulously. To solve problems.

This course is so helpful for all things photography not just wedding. Roberto is such an amazing teacher.

I am relatively new to Wedding Photography having come from a background of wildlife and landscape, friends, family etc slowly cajoling me into doing their weddings ... as bookings started to increase along with my blood pressure... i have found the two courses with Roberto instructional and fluent with bursts of OMG "i did not know that". He's a nice guy with a good eye who has learned from the roots up much like myself there is a lot to be said for not being a natural technical photographer but someone with a natural eye... and of course Annie Leibovitz is NOT a technical photographer. Fantastic course well worth every penny.

Excellent teacher. Amazing style. Smart lessons. I learned a lot from watching the full course. In each session there are multiple good tips. I am not a wedding photographer and I am not planning to be one and I am not interested in weddings.. In fact I am just an amateur who from time to time take pics of my own kids. I learned a lot from Roberto to apply on improving my own photographic skills. Thanks Roberto

Amazing course and teacher. Each lesson gives you hints and solves problems that you may encounter during your weddings. Really blown away by the quality of this course and of the photos Roberto is able take during these sessions. Will definitely watch other Roberto courses !

People posing is a weak spot for many photographers and to get it to picture-perfect requires a degree of skill and that's what Roberto is awesome at. Roberto's teachings are simple to understand and when you have mastered them you will never again worry about posing people in an elegant way.

Great class!! Roberto is an excellent teacher. He is able to share his knowledge in a very easy way. At the same time his systematic approach is easy to replicate but require a lot of discipline. I look forward for more classes with him.

I am just starting this class but tops it was more useful of the mistakes we as photographers make and how to solve them. Kudos.

I was skeptical to purchasing this class at first, but thankful I did. great class and great teacher. The only thing i didn't like, was that it went on sale the next day after i purchased it.

Roberto is a photography mastermind. I'm very grateful for his CL courses that are available. He shares so much during these courses, I cannot help but making many, many, many notes and I'm sure if I rewatch it, I'll still learn new stuff. This course is not only for the wedding photographer, but the information he shares is applicable for all kinds of photography. If you want to learn how to make use of the gifts of any location (while throwing some very helpful posing advice in the mix), this course is for you. I'd also highly recommend his course "Location, posing, execution", which I saw before buying this one. And besides his very inspiring teaching style, he's also very funny! This course is a joy to watch.

Roberto is a great photographer and a great teacher. Roberto took me a little bit to get used to because rather than just memorizing, Roberto teachers you how to think like a great photographer. Roberto studies the best of the best photographers and painters and he incorporates it in his photography business and his teaching courses. Over and over, I have heard other top photographers referring to Roberto. Cudos to Roberto, for being the go to Pros,' Pro. Roberto is a great teacher and a great photographer that takes beautiful pictures with mastery of beautiful light, posing and composition.

This course lifts you to a whole new level in wedding photography. The teaching you receive provides you with skills and abilities that will give your clients not just outstanding photographs but great value for their money. Roberto is a very down to earth type person and has an easy to follow practical approach to his teaching.

Without reservation, Roberto is one of the best teachers in the field, and this course is a must have for any photographer who is serious about upping their game. Worth every cent. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

Most of the course is GREAT, and I do recommend it - but with one exception - I found that, probably because it wasn't rehearsed, in the Flash techniques chapter (20 of 21), the technical aspects with diagrams were explained in a very confusing and inaccurate manner. I do know how speedlights work, both normally and in HSS mode, unfortunately I feel Roberto's choice of words were far from ideal and he was also mixing up the technicalities of the two modes. Similarly, the shutter curtain discussion could have been better explained and drawn, all this goes to show that we should stick to what we have rehearsed, both in shooting for clients and when presenting. I feel this strongly enough to write here (unusual for me) and I'd seriously suggest that chapter is dropped from the course, it's just not up to Roberto's usual standard. Having watched a couple of his courses now, I suspect if he watched it now, some 4 years later, he'd be saying "OMG, how bad was that?" I still recommend the course though.

Despite my frustrations with the videographer showing Roberto, while he's demonstrating on a model how he should turn his head, these problems improved as the videos went on. DO NOT LET THIS KEEP YOU FROM PURCHASING THIS CLASS. HOLY MOLY! Roberto is an absolute GENIUS! Of all of the videos that I've so thoroughly enjoyed by Creative Live, I may have learned the most from him. He's DETAILED, a perfectionist, thinks of every scenario. If we could vote for the best TEACHER on Creative Live, Roberto has it in the bag. You'll need to watch this class many times to get it all, because there is no "down town". He's constantly flooding you with brilliant information. I cannot say enough about this guy. I expect over time, I will gradually purchase all of his classes. Don't let this one get by you.

Absolutely amazing. Roberto's background as a classroom teacher (and crazy OCD perfectionist) is a true gift to us, the students. He has analyzed, practiced, and tried/failed his techniques countless times and it shows in this course. I have become so much more aware of an environment's "gifts" after taking this course. I myself was a science teacher (and am also a goofball) so his style of teaching resonates with me. While some workshops are amazing at making us feel inspired and fantastic, these are short lived emotions. Roberto's preaching of get out there and practice is a no-brainer!! Best course to get me started on my wedding photography career! Thank you Roberto!

The first Creative Live course I ever watched -Superb! People are not my forte in photography; this was so well explained regarding the positioning of the person to flatter them and to exact the most pleasing image that it was impossible not to want to try harder in the future. A very enjoyable and informative course that made me re-evaluate (and improve) how I take pictures of people

I bought Roberto's class on Location, Posing and Execution. It has helped me so much. You pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me to think about location, posing and execution differently - with intention in mind. I now look at the light, the stuff around me that could help with the light, composition, backgrounds, just everything. I just finished a family photo session and the group was about 30 people. The added challenge I had was that the original place I had chosen for the photo location didn't work because there was someone in a wheelchair that couldn't get there. Because of your class I was able to rethink that location on the spot and it went a lot smoother. I am so thankful I had watched Roberto's class because I had no problem putting the group together. Afterwards, people were commenting on how "professional" I was at taking the group shots and how they liked that it was done that way. It made them feel more comfortable and it was all done efficiently and quickly. I know I would NOT have been able to do that before!! I have been thinking about purchasing this course and decided to watch the free videos just to see what I might learn. My husband sat down and watched a short while with me and he said, "Wow, this guy is good!" He is right!! I now have to purchase this class too. Thank you so much Creative Live and Roberto!!
