Speaking a foreign language gives you more sophisticated problem-solving skills, more tools for multitasking and expressing yourself, and opens up more career opportunities – not to mention the ability to more fully immerse yourself in other cultures. But learning a new language can be an unmanageably long endeavor. Join Gabriel Wyner to learn how you can become (and stay) fluent in a new language in months, not years.

Throughout this course, you’ll explore memorization tools, linguistic concepts, and free software that will ensure fluency in the shortest amount of time possible. You’ll learn about the four essential stages of language acquisition: understanding correct pronunciation, building vocabulary and grammar skills, reading and listening effectively, and conversing with native speakers. You’ll also learn about antiquated methods to avoid (such as translating between new and native languages) and cutting-edge new techniques that ensure maximum absorption and retention.

By the end of this course, you’ll have an easy system for learning a new language, retaining, and expressing yourself as quickly as possible.

I am working through a complex type of brain retraining (for over 5 years now) using no medicine for healing chronic illnesses including autoimmune issues, mold toxicity, and Lymes disease as well as Fibromyalgia and gut issues which I have had almost all my life. One of the things they want us to do is to rewire our brains with visualizations and also new experiences. They encourage us to try a new language or a new skill because like Gabe said, neurons which fire together wire together. I wasn't able to do any new language skills until recently and I started with French and then Italian which I am learning now. I started iTalki for Spanish and although I studied it in high school I was not fluent. But amazingly a lot of my Spanish vabulary knowledge from 26 years ago came back suddenly and I can make connections between Spanish and Italian so much easier now. I am thoroughly enjoying my language work and learning all I can from Gabe's class, his book, and now his app Fluent Forever. And as they predicted, I am starting to heal faster now than when I first got sick over 6 years ago. My mind feels sharper, I'm less anxious, and I have something to get up in the morning for now. I truly am becoming a new person and I have to say, THANK YOU, Gabe for all you have done for language learned around the world. You have sacrificed so much of your time and energy to making language learning not only more efficient, but also incredible tangible and fun. I do feel like I'm becoming a new and improved person and it gives me such a tremendous feeling of accomplishment and self worth to know I am accomplishing a lifelong goal that I never dreamed would actually come true.

after 6 months with Doulingo (and many others apps), and a lot of frustration, I decided to try this course. It changed completely my approach of how to learn a new language! The methods are bit old, but the principals remain the same! and good news, if you like Wyner's approach, today you can try is App (fluent forever). If you plan to invest your time in learning new language, do yourself a favour and watch this course. I've wasted so many hours! wish I saw this 6 months ago.

I love how this course is organized. It helps me go to just the topic I'm interested in (mostly how to create Anki decks) and start watching. I also like how clear Gabe is. I'll be using these strategies in a language course that I will be teaching. Highly recommended!

Let´s start with the positive things about this course: This is a great course and Gabriel makes it interesting to listen to. He refers to a lot of studies, which for me is the most valuable part of the material. After taking this course it´s very clear how to go about learning a new language regardless of what level you are at for the moment. On the minus side: it could have been shorter. Gabriel spends an almost ridiculous amount of time at going throuhg basic computer knowledge, like ctr V for pasting, and numerous of times he goes through the difference between a Mac and a PC, which shouldn´t be in the scope of this course. The middle of the course is therefore somewhat meaniingless if you´re looking for tips on how to learn languages rather than basic computer knowledge. As a whole, Gabriel´s passion and the content in the beginning and at the end makes it worthwhile. 4/5 in my opinion!

Don't believe the naysayers here: This class was awesome. It has given me a new perspective on language learning. His process is very thorough and well-explained. He gives you all the resources you need to expedite the language learning process while building the necessary skills to retain what you've learned—long enough to form a solid long-term memory. He doesn't hype this up as a "learn a language in 7 days" kind of system. This process actually even takes a bit LONGER than some other methods because you have to make your own flashcards in the beginning. But the process is meant to make you REMEMBER WHAT YOU LEARN. Honestly, I'm glad I ignored the misguided negative reviews and went with my gut after watching the free preview videos. Just goes to show you: reviews won't tell you the whole picture, but rather everyone's individual pictures mixed in with their own biases and trivial frustrations. Reviews help in many instances. In this case, I think the negative reviews are just straight-up not accurate.

I really enjoyed this course. Gabe has a terrific, easy teaching style that's entertaining and absorbing to the point where I'm conscious of having gone through the course a little too fast. I am looking forward to going back through it a little more slowly to catch any tidbits I missed, but even without that I feel I have so many new tools to apply to language learning and I can't wait to get started. I really appreciate that he also went over how to tackle a language you've already learned in the past but have not retained to the level you'd like, as well as how to start a brand new language from scratch. I hope to do both with much greater success than my previous attempts.

I read Gabriel Wyner's book _Fluent Forever_ twice and viewed most of the free resources on his website, but I did not understood his whole language learning system until taking this class. This class is the most comprehensive and detailed breakdown of his method, which is already helping me learn and retain more than I ever did in a traditional foreign language classroom.

This is an incredibly useful and fascinating class. I'm a linguist, so I didn't imagine I would learn a whole lot, but I've been pleasantly surprised. You'll learn about learning, how to alter settings on your computer to utilize it for language learning, and all kinds of other useful bits.

    This guy is brilliant.

  • helen H. Feb 8, 2017

The character 猫 is Japanese. The correct Chinese character is 貓. Japanese Kanji originated from Chinese. I just want to clarify this with Gabriel, his lessons is excellent though.

Excellent course overall. Gabe doesn't teach just one or two skills to learn language, but a program that, if you follow it, will probably lead to fluency. I haven't bought it yet because I can't commit to it right now, but as I clear some time, I will invest so I can spruce up my French and then move on to Mandarin!

This class is the first CreativeLive class that I ever watched through in its entirety. The who leveraging Anki plus trying to understand a language vocabulary in context by using the target language's version of Google was fantastic. Thanks for helping me take the first steps towards learning a second language, Gabe!

Gabriel Wyner is the go to guy for anything related to learning foreign languages, and this course is easily the best of its kind. His method is solid, and his communication style is great, clear and to the point. Highly recommend it.

This is one of the most mind-blowing courses I've ever attended - in any area. I can't wait to start applying what I learned - when learning Portuguese (as a newbie), when expanding my English (which is quite good already) and when learning all kinds of stuff. Gabe is not only a genius in his field, but also inspiring, insightful, fun and a great teacher as such.

Worth every penny. Despite the title, you'll learn far more than how to become fluent in a language -- you'll learn how to learn anything you want! Gabe is a great presentational speaker, articulate and captivating. The foundation of the course is about how to set a concrete and measurable goal, learn effectively, and set yourself up for success. This course addresses forming new habits within the constraints of your current life, making progress when you don't feel motivated, and how to recover from setbacks like getting off-track or when you just don't grasp a concept--these topics are often missing from other learning courses so students flounder as soon as they stray from the formula. Building on all these fundamentals, Gabe then offers specific techniques and tools for language learning. Excellent course!

Really great course and well worth the money. Gabe gives a whole framework to language learning which is very valuable and saves a ton of time.

  • U. Feb 27, 2015

I really wasn't expecting to learn a whole lot of new things with this course but I feel like I have come away with so much more then just how to learn a language. The science on how our mind and memory work was really interesting and also very applicable to other parts of my life. Along with this course, I purchased Gabriel's pronunciation trainer which I also highly recommend. I never thought about the pronunciation of a language as a separate part and I feel like learning this first is already greatly improving my understanding of my goal language. I have tried to learn another language many times only to either give up from frustration or get bored with the program I'm using. This course and Gabriel's method of learning a language have me so excited that this time will be the time I succeed. I can't wait to start using the word list once that is available and to start creating my own. Thank you so much for such a great course.

Totally glad I bought this workshop! I'll certainly be using it to nail French :D

  • Sheree U. Nov 27, 2014

Great course. Have been following Gabriel's method for a while now and it is the most enjoyable way to learn a language I've experienced. I would have liked more detailed course info. I have gone back to rewatch some the segments and it's been a bit of a hassle trying to find the bit that I remembered watching. Should've taken more notes along the way, I suppose. :-) He's really gone to the underlying science behind language learning. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to become fluent in another language - it wouldn't be so helpful to someone who just wants to learn a bit to get by on a holiday.

  • L. Sep 24, 2014

This is a stellar course that I would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants to learn a language. Like many people I have aspirations of being a polyglot; at the very least I'd like to become fluent in a second language. I took over four years of French in school and by the end of that time I could read novels, watch movies, and converse fluently with native speakers; a few years later it was gone. I feel like I've tried everything out there to learn several languages over the years, and have always failed (not to mention wasted thousands of dollars). I've been watching this course over about a month, and in this time I have learned - and retained - more of my target language than any other time I have tried to study on my own. It's fun & addictive, it makes all the sense on the world, and so far, it really, truly works.

  • U. Aug 2, 2014

I am really glad that I bought this course. I have started implementing the methods and yes it is progressing nicely. I wouldn't dream of trying to learn a language now without using the info provided here. Very satisfied.

  • Brad C. Jul 2, 2014

This is a great course for anyone trying to learn languages. It turns the notion of buying a language specific course on its head, and empowers you to learn a language with a magical technique: hard work! This method puts you in charge of what you are learning in a way that you will remember and know it. This is the last language course I'll ever need - it makes it clear that building your own course in a systematic way will always trump buying someone else's hard work (course material). Bottom line, I think it is a great investment in language study, and much cheaper than buying courses for each language!
