This is THE BEST Photoshop Fundamentals course I've ever taken. Even as an experienced user I picked up on quite a few things. I also enjoy the non-destructive approach that Dave takes throughout this course. I would recommend this to anyone whom would like to learn their way around Photoshop.
This is a class I will come back to again and again. I purchased it because I was using Photoshop to madly crank out a series of artworks for an upcoming exhibition. But relying on YouTube videos was slow and clumsy. With this course, not only did I learn how to use Photoshop techniques, but I now understand the fundamentals. Dave taught only the critically important techniques, and taught them efficiently and clearly. This course has empowered me!
I am just starting to self teach myself Photoshop. I've taken a couple of other PS classes but have found this class the most beneficial. I LOVE the reasoning of working non destructively......it's how I would have wanted to work had I known to think about it before taking this class. I have pages and pages of notes and I plan on watching the class again because there is so much useful information in this class!! Dave is a great teacher!
I attended the two day class with Dave cross. He laid out the essential and practical information of Photoshop in a concise but succinct way. Excellent course for both novice and expert. Highly recommend it.
Great! I loved his teaching style and how to edit being "Non destructive" great experience I am looking forward to the next class of photoshop with Dave
I was so lucky to get to attend this class in person here in Seattle. I have been a fan of Dave's for years and own a number of his courses from Creative Live. When this class was announced I almost decided to skip it since it was listed as a "beginners" class but decided that it "might" be worth it. One of the reasons I wanted to take it was that I am self-taught. I had started with Photoshop 5 (not CS5 but 5) about 15 years ago (at least). I figured it I took this class I might learn a little something that would help me in my work. Well, two days later I have 18 pages of handwritten notes, a whole new way to work and it has already paid off in a huge way in my daily workflow. I bill out my hours at around $100 an hour as a graphic designer and marketing person. That means in the two days that I spent 10 hours a day taking the class and commuting to it, it cost me about $2000 in working time. But it didn't. I can guarantee that I am way ahead on this one. I l learned so much. The real world things I learned will pay off for a very long time. Within one day after the class I had already started changing my workflow to be more non-destructive and faster. Dave is an awesome teacher and I can't say enough good things about this class. Even if you think you know Photoshop, you don't. I teach it in my small world but I learned so much.
I'm SO happy I took this course! I took another Adobe PS course a couple years back and it was too step-by-step/-tool-by-tool to retain the useful stuff; so I've been self-teaching pieces of PS ever since and often frustrated at hours of [un-and-re-doing] bad choices. Dave Cross's course was the antidote! FINALLY I saw what I've been doing wrong and can re-build on a foundation that is actually useful! Keywords: Smart Objects & Filters, Layers (of all types) and Masks!! - I am officially a Dave Cross convert and will turn to him for my next Adobe needs too cuz - yeah - well - he's a "make it better" button unto himself! THANK YOU.
Great class and well worth the investment of time and the small fee charged for this much useful information. I have been using Photoshop for years, but being new to the Photoshop CC world I thought it might be helpful. What an understatement that turned out to be, within an hour I had learned several work flow improvements and time saving tips that will ultimately save me days of work. I am already looking forward to Dave's next class !!
I really like Dave's methodical teaching style. Step by step works best for my learning processes. He also has a lovely voice to listen to during his classes, that is important if you have to listen to someone talk for any length of time. I also like the "dance" he does by explaining what he is going to do, then does it, and then comes back to explaining the choices he made and why. Very, very easy to follow him in his straight forward explanations. He increased my understanding of so many tools I use and so many I have never used. Wow! Photoshop with Dave took away a lot of "fear"! (Wish I had a "happy face" to place here!) I bought this class today because I don't think I can get along without it!
I'm really enjoying Dave's Foundations of Adobe® Photoshop® CC® class. His teaching style is more laid back than that of other instructors in Photoshop, and I find it refreshing. Something I especially like is how he gives a kind of historical overview of the tools in PS-CC and how they evolved from earlier tools. The only thing I can't shake is a feeling of deja vu. He covers things the same way he did in a class on Adobe® Photoshop® CC® for beginners a few days ago. Lol! Truly an excellent and worthwhile class. It benefitted me and I've been using Photoshop since CS3.
A writer and an old person (over 60), I rarely use neat exaggerations like "great" or "fantastic," and never say "awesome" in the currently fashionable manner. However, I would call this class both great and excellently planned. Cross is well-spoken and a consummate teacher with a rarely non-irritating voice. It is information packed, clearly presented, well-organized, and extremely helpful. I wish I could afford his others.
This class is great for beginners bit even for experienced Photoshop users. He teaches a foundation for editing that sets you up for success. His principles for editing in a way that's not destructive give you so much flexibility. I've almost completely changed my workflow in Photoshop and it has saves me time and harddrive space.
THANK YOU, Dave!!! Although I have been using Photoshop for a long time and only have CS4 (!), I found your clear and concise explanations very helpful. Love your teaching style. Good examples with great demos of tools. :-)
This course was super super helpful! Although I have been working with Adobe tools for quiet sometime, there were lots of brand new information and a lot more easier ways of doing some of the things I know. Thank you so much to everyone in Creative Live, especially to Dave!!
This class was a great way to find the path to move beyond legacy, image destructive editing habits! Photoshop is so powerful and new editing habits as introduced by Dave Cross will empower, stir creative juices, and make it fun all over again.
This course is so much more than a "Beginner's" class. First, Dave Cross is an excellent teacher and I will be seeking other courses from him. What makes this course so valuable for beginners is Dave's "Do no harm" philosophy about editing. You will learn the best ways of using Photoshop along with tried and true real advice on minimizing your effort. I highly recommend this course.
This is a very beginner course. I've used Photoshop since 2006 for digital scrapbooking and I knew most of what he taught. I wanted to watch, as someone who uses Lightroom to edit photos -- not Photoshop -- and see what I might have been missing. I think I will continue to prefer Lightroom. And when I want to go more in depth with Photoshop I'll re-watch Ben Willmore's more in-depth class. Dave Cross is a good teacher. I just wanted to help people know how basic this class is.
I think this a great course if you already have some experience with PS and have played in it some you may understand it. I have been lost for most of the class. I did learn some stuff but it's not easy to follow. If you're a true beginner I think this is not the best option. If you're going to take this course you may want to play in PS first and learn what tools are what etc.
This course should be renamed Photoshop Foundations because it is more than just a rundown of beginner Photoshop actions. Dave Cross teaches not just the how, but the why. He lays the foundation of non-destructive editing in a straight-forward manner using layers and smart objects. He makes the seemingly daunting task of importing, exporting, and resizing files easy to understand. This is one of the better "beginner" Photoshop classes I have watched. So many aha! moments.
Good Presentation and I picked up some very good techniques to reduce my work flow. A problem with the connection was freezing and cutting out. To be honest, it was a headache. I would have preferred a larger image model because the type on the buttons and sliders were difficult to discern.
Should be titled Beginning Photoshop for those who want to become experts. Too much time spent on background for those who want to learn basics of Photoshop quickly and do not want to become experts with all the theory.
Why does he give us his opinion about what needs to be removed about photoshop? This is a beginners class we do not want to hear about what changes photoshop should make to their program. David please remember we are beginners and do not want to hear about frustrations with program.
