Get The Design Job You Want with Ram Castillo

I’m two chapters in and although he finds himself fascinating, I do not. I paid for a course to learn about digital portfolios, not to be subjected to a young man’s navel gazing. There’s a lot of talking with no substance.

So far it's incredibly helpful. I feel like I'm back with my counselor, guiding me through each step of the way with step-by-step action items.

This class is my official blueprint for my next resume. I usually used templates off the internet for my resume, but after seeing the ingredients and the 6 columns grid system, I decided to put the hard work on crafting my own resume from scratch. The result... well 10 hours in work of my resume and still I'm not finished, between managing the hierarchy, choosing the color scheme and most difficult making my copy strong and understandable by the HR team. And all this is just one part of the puzzle. Ram does not only show you the way he walks you thru it, with his 10+ years experience in the field and all his connections in the graphic design field, he brings other experts along the seminar and everything discussed is an eye opener to what really works. I'm grateful to Ram for this class because is just what I needed to re-brand my own self as a creative. In here I learned what I did not learned at school. Additional to all that Ram is a very down to earth guy and his seminar is very engaging. His tips already helped me at work :). Definitely I'll be watching it a few more times. Thanks Ram

Being in the design field for over 15 years, I sometimes find it challenging to approach acquiring new freelance work or full-time client work in fresh ways. Ram's class is chock full of practical and smart nuggets of wisdom. Ram is able to distill the proper information into an easy to follow and practical guide. He's passionate about helping others and this is reflected in his instruction. This course alone is great, but couple it with his course on portfolios and his book on the same topics, and as Ram says, "Now you're cooking with gas." Since I'm a photographer and not looking for a design job I wasn't sure what I would get out of the course. I just KNEW that I learned so much from Ram from the Create a Knockout Design Portfolio class that I chose to take this course. Boy was I wrong. I simply turned all his training toward getting a client rather than a job and I was simply and easily able to identify my BEST CLIENT and the ability to focus on those people helps to focus all my effort and marketing to them. Ram is motivating, encourages actionable solutions, and authentic. It's such a pleasure to learn in the environment he creates and its also a blast! I encourage anyone in a creative business to take his course. I look 9 pages of notes that enabled me to focus all my efforts and create a to do list to change my business. this class's value is priceless! I learned more here than I did during my higher education! Its all about presenting and connecting we all know that but the hands on experiences, the advise, the tips, the way of thinking... At the very beginning of this live class, a woman in the chat room asked if there were any other “older” people in the class, that the class seemed aimed at “kids.” I wish I’d seen the chat earlier, but answered as soon as I saw it that I took his other class and got a lot out of it. However, I didn’t hear anything from her again, so she must have turned it off. Hopefully, she’ll see this review and reconsider. It was a great class aimed not only at people of all ages and experience levels, but also anyone looking for any kind of job, not just design. I’m not even looking for a job. What an amazing workshop!! i had big expectations towards this workshop, and Ram fulfilled it!! All of the information was spot on, on what i needed to become better in selling myself :)

This course helped me sort through so much that was previously a mystery or simply a topic of conflicted confusion - I stopped taking notes and bought the course. Particularly, as Ram's teaching and real world knowledge and experience comes at you non-stop. Real world examples from proper email, resume construction (Creatives, forget looking at the 1000s of websites out there - this is 'thee' resume teaching you want), etc. Ram is an engaging speaker, articulate with perfect voice and flow... And honestly, he has the experience to present the details with ease and clarity! This course should be required in any creative / art curriculum to prepare students, of any age, for the real world! Ram’s class was the focused, creative energy shot I needed to engage with design clients in this fast-paced, digital world. Back in my art student days, no one teacher or school gave such energy towards the ‘big picture’.
