develop your eye and make great images of the outdoors
Turn a spark of passion for the outdoors into beautiful landscape photography in this start-to-finish course. From gear and exposure to light and post-processing, master the landscape photography workflow with veteran artist Marc Muench. End the frustration of being unable to capture the raw beauty of nature and capture inspiring awe-inducing views on camera.
With both live instruction and on-site photography tutorials, you'll master both the technical and creative necessities for capturing better landscape images. After the adventure, learn to perfect the scene using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to crop, color and fine-tune those images. In addition, you'll tackle advanced techniques including HDR and panoramas.
SOFTWARE USED: Adobe Lightroom CC 2015, Adobe Photoshop CC 2015
As a third-generation photographer, Marc Muench has spent nearly 30 years working as a landscape and sports photographer. His work has appeared on the cover of publications like Time, National Geographic, Traveler, Outside, Sierra Magazine and more. In addition to shooting, he leads photography workshops around the world. He teaches with a mix of technical and creative details and personal insight.
This class was fantastic! I love Marc’s style and demeanor. I have learned so much from this class and it’s taken my photos to a new level!
Excellent course really opened my eyes in to how use my camera and how to improve my skills for a master at work
Fantastic course and really love Marc's attitude towards his art. I learned a great deal during this course and can't wait to get out and test some theory on an upcoming trip to the Rockies. Thanks Marc!
This is my 5th CreativeLive course. I enjoyed most of the course. I am a senior citizen trying to take the best landscape and wildlife photos while traveling the country in my retirement years. Marc's presentations are excellent and well delivered. I learned a few new tips to try for the future. My only dislike was the last 10 lessons using Lightroom. I don't have Lightroom because a stand alone version can no longer be found and Adobe now has gone to a cloud based program requiring a yearly fee. I use Photodirector 12 and Photoimpression 6 which are stand alone programs. Photodirector 12 does a lot of what Lightroom does. Photoimpression 6 (no longer available) is a very old program that has a few features I use that are not in Lightroom, Photoshop or Photodirector.
(negative) comments on the anecdotes and on the reminiscing are justifiable as there is a lot ... in the first 90 minutes. The other 10+ hours in my view are excellent for my purpose (I do not need base instruction, but was interested how Marc approaches his pictures and see what I can add to my own creative and editing processes). So did !
Marc is an excellent teacher in addition to being a worldclass photographer. Engaging, funny and he's done it all. Well worth the time and money.
I always enter CL photography classes with the perspective that the photographer teaching them has something new to offer me that can benefit my art. With a positive attitude, there is much to learn from Marc Muench in this series. Even if his way is not yours, Marc has a unique and inspiring way of looking at a landscape scene which he demonstrates in the first two-thirds of the lessons. His workflow for Lightroom editing, late in the series, though mostly still valid, is dated now in a few places. (For example, HDR and panoramic merges had to be done in Photohop in 2014, rather than internally in LR now.) But there is still much to learn from even the few dated lessons, such as when and how to think about moving the Sharpening sliders (not just right before exporting or printing, the usual advice, but even in import, and a second time later!), or in that last lesson. Even if "B&W conversion" is not an interest of yours, how Marc would make a few first edits to three images shot by workshop participants is fascinating. Watch it, take notes, think about what you can learn from Marc, and you're likely to agree that this class is worth every penny.
What I loved about this class was the sense that I was getting insight into how Marc thinks as an artist. He shares a lot of stories -- and these are what allow you to "get into his head", so to speak, and learn to see how he sees, how he looks for and finds those shots, and how he processes the shots to convey whatever emotional or visual impact he was after. I felt that I was getting a class how to think more like an artist both when out in the field taking the shots and making adjustments in post-processing. Excellent!
Marc is a terrific instructor. His combination of images and videos demonstrating the concepts and techniques works extremely well. I am an experienced photographer but still learned some great information.
Wow! This is an excellent course. Marc Muench has a huge amount of experience and knowledge that he shares with a friendly and engaging style. I have learnt a great deal about equipment, composition and post production editing. This is going to be a goto class for future revision and skills development.
Outstanding class
I learned so much! Especially about the develop module. Thanks for a great course.
very experienced presenter with a depth of knowledge from a career long in the business and explained simply.
One of the very best teachers out there. His download documents alone are worth the price.
PLEASE, whatever you do, don't judge this course on the first couple of lessons. I almost did, because there wasn't much teaching. I am glad I continued on as Mark did a fantastic job. You will grow to liking his style, and grow to liking who he comes across as, and that is a nice person who cares very much about teaching.
I loved this class! Marc presented a huge volume of information which I found useful. His personal experience formed the basis of most of the lectures and that is really what I want in a class. He is not shy about showing what worked for him and what didn't work. The creative aspects of photography are the hardest ones to cover in lectures but Marc covered them admirably.
Very interesting and informative !
Marc presents several Tips in the second half of the class that I could make use of to build a better picture. I like Marc's perspective on editing. In the end this class will give you some new LR tools for editing your pictures, as well as, a provide good foundation for understanding composition and what makes a great photograph. This class, provides the tools to help you make your photographic vision happen and it will make you think about how you take and finish your pictures. I Highly-recommended this course.
I also really like the depth with which Marc explains his techniques and processes of shooting and editing. For a beginner, this course is a treasure of information! Thanks so much, Marc!
I appreciate how Marc goes into detail, while he is teaching. Plus, the examples that he includes show everything he is explaining. I am not a landscape photographer but all the information he is discussing can be used in any genre. Excellent course! Thank you, Marc
Firstly the course material is quite extensive. Mark does a fabulous job his style is very easy to follow, his experiences are interesting and his vast knowledge is very handy for amateurs wanting to take up landscape photography as a hobby or future professional career. Have completed four lessors and enjoying it. Worth the money and much more.
The vast majority of this tutorial set is helpful, but there are some detracting issues. I do have three complaints; 1) the reminiscences in the first 3rd of the episodes are just empty space, 2) the annoying lip smacking "ticks" at the end of each of his sentences detract from his message, and 3) whenever the narrator drinks coffee/water on the mic, you it loudly.
Marc inspires you as he share so many details from the years of experience in the field. This is an easy course to follow and well worth the look for anyone wanting to polish their skills in the area of landscape photography.
This course was so inspirational. Would love to do a live workshop with Marc.
My favorite class by far! Marc's experience and background in teaching this type of work is unparalleled. Landscape photography can be over whelming. You get to a location and the sun is setting and you panic. He breaks it down and gives you tools to know what to do when you get there. He shares techniques and experiences that give insight as to how to prepare.
