I just started this course and it is not what I was looking for. I was looking for Photoshop technique, not photo studio techniques. I'm never going to have a studio! I'm no way at this level of production and it would probably take me years to even get to this level. I was hoping to learn techniques in Photoshop in blending composites together with PS tools. I was hoping for more of a hands on course. The instructor is excellent and his process is as well, and if this is your type of thing to do

This is hands down the most enjoyable class I've ever purchased! Aaron's enthusiasm for his work is engaging and his teaching style makes you feel more like you are hanging out with a friend than sitting in a class. He also makes complicated PS easy to understand. I can't wait to start using his techniques to make my own work!

I love Aaron's enthusiasm and love for what he does. He is fun to learn from. But the lighting thing is why I use speedlights so I can adjust all my lights FROM my camera so easily. I have done compositing and have taken classes on it before and learned some, but THIS class really explained really important things for proper compositing. Now to get someone to enter my fantasy world with me for a photoshoot!!

So far I have only watched the fantasy section and have learned SOOOO much. I am sure I will be going back again to repeat and I am glad I have invested in this. I was hesitant to buy this because a lot of the techniques that he teaches here are also on youtube for free in his youtube channel. But I was WRONG! This is worth the money and more because it is not just the techniques, but watching Aaron go through the entire process from conceptualization, studio photoshoot and creating the composite to the final version. That you can't see for free and THAT is worth every penny. It is a true class and well worth every penny!!

Aaron Nace is a natural teacher but also an imaginative and skilled photo artist. Combine the two and you get a great tutorial on composites. Watching the live production, I felt like an intern following Nace around the studio for three days to experience every single step of composite making from the photo shoot of a model, to background creation, to final coloring and special effects. The third-day sessions are especially valuable, particularly the advice of first doing the composite in grayscale, then adjusting colors and checking on their levels of saturation, and finally checking for proper hue levels. I bought the video because the live session convinced me that, following Nace’s guidelines and considerable practice, I could do sophisticated composites too. I strongly recommend the CreativeLive video. However, Nace works quickly using keyboard shortcuts and a Wacom tablet pen, so the video can move very rapidly at times. The solution I found was to first watch Nace’s Photoshop 101, available at phlearn.com. He has a particular style in using Photoshop, the presentation of which you come to recognize in Photoshop 101. Then recognizing his presentation style, watching the Creative Live video is easier to follow and a true intern-like experience unfolds that is most exciting.

Great workshop! Aaron is entertaining and articulate and keeps you engaged throughout the course.

I could only watch part of the class live but it was so interesting that I decided to buy it. I love Aaron's techniques and I'm sure I will learn a lot watching the class.

Fantastic Course! I've watched (and purchased) many courses from Creative Live, and there are many good instructors; excellent instructors, in fact. Aaron's course on compositing essentials is one of the best. In addition to being a technical expert, he is a great teacher; a real talent. Great information and good illustrations/explanations. He does go a little fast when using Photoshop, and while I was trying to find the short-cuts keys, I would find he was three more points down the trail ahead of me. (That's part of why I bought the course ;-) )

I purchased Photoshop Compositing Essentials after watching the course on live, from start to finish here in Ireland. I was so impressed with the teaching style of Aaron in this course ( I have also purchased an earlier course by Aaron), that I just had to purchase this course too. I have always had an interest in Compositing - having tried and had reasonable success.. however Aarons way in which he passes on his knowledge and expertese in this subject is pure Mastery to watch and absorb. This is indeed a complex skill and there is so much to learn.. but,Aaron's manner in which he teaches comes across as almost " one to one" in nature and so enjoyable and absorbing to learn from. Having purchased the course and once again on a personal One to one' teacher pupil experience I cannot recomment Aarons courses enough . Learning through Creative live is such a joy.. ( Im 57 and been into photography since my teens and working as a Professional photographer here in Ireland for the last ten years -- As an ex Cop in London for thirty years and now supposed to be retired ( ! ), I can now experience my Love of photography in a working enviroment and continue to learn my Craft with Creative live. Outstanding course! I purchased both courses that Aaron presented at CreativeLive ; they are the most important courses in my library. Aaron delivers the most complete compositing instruction in the industry. Please bring him back to teach how to composite full figures and shadows into a background.

I learned more time saving workflow techniques in the first two days of this class (work constraints forced me to miss most of the third day) than I've learned in past two years. This instructor's teaching method made me feel as if I was discussing Photoshop projects with one of my geek friends. I will definitely look up his other Creative Live courses and I am enjoying the tutorials on Phlearn.com. Great class!

Excellent (as always) course by Aaron Nace. I really enjoyed how he elicited input from the studio audience and experimented live with different approaches to the images he created. Great explanations for the processes and rationale behind each phase of creation. Love how easy a master like Aaron makes this stuff look! On a side note, I ran into an "unexpected end of file" error when trying to open the bonus soccer composite download...hopefully the team at CL can fix that quickly.
