This a wonderful class. Clay has worked w/Montey and brings a supreme knowledge to photographers who want to learn more. His skills are creative and insightful with a modest personality. This is an amazing class that comes with a great price.

Love Clay! He has such a classic style when it comes to portraiture! A real master! I always come back to this class to review and learn more!

Clay Blackmore knows what he is doing but its not completely satisfactory. There is too much self praise , too much adjusting. As in he explains or sets up something and then does a further adjustment of lights or the model which makes you wonder why he didn't adjust it in the first place. The other thing is the touching of the model. I personally don't like this. I think its unnecessary. So while good and I think it could have been better with the level of knowledge he has.

Fantastic course. It was great learning from one of the masters, Clay Blackmore.

It's a bit disappointing to but the course and not get the gear list mentioned, and the website for a comprehensive gear that was also mentioned does not exist. CL should follow up on things like this.

Of all the courses I have purchased without exception this is the best. Clay is an excellent teacher. When he speaks he is saying something and not just talking. He explains his lighting techniques in great detail while demonstrating them . He is clear, concise and fun to listen to. You will learn how to pose individuals all the way to large groups, while learning the correct way to light them. All this while being entertained by one of America's great portrait photographers.

I have purchases many Creative Live classes but this is one of my favourites. Right out of the gate he is very engaging, clearly knows his craft, and knows how to teach it. He shares what is going on in his mind as he sets up the shot so we understand why he is doing what he is doing. I really can't say enough about this class and am thankful I bought it.

Such a great instructor! i liked the fact he took the time to explain his gear list and his light set ups. It might not be a big thing but for someone starting off it helped me gain some traction on gear QUICKLY!. Thanks CL!

Hi All, I haven't finished this class that Clay Blackmore has made but it has really inspired me and love the way he works He has explained the lighting techniques very well and also the positioning of his clients whether it is 1, 4 or 6 persons in such an easy manner. Fabulous and highly recommend it to anyone.

hello good day I bought the class of and I would like to know if I can see the videos in Spanish because I do not know anything English, thanks for your comments

  • Cathy C. Jan 17, 2017

Clay Blackmore is full of energy and loves to share his 35 years of knowledge to others. The class is full of practical advice and repetition is the best teacher. He teaches best formal poses and best lighting practices. He shows these done with constant, then stobes, then with speedlights. He covers how to talk to your customers and how to sell and how to give. GTG

Terrific! You are guaranteed to learn something important in this class. One of the most important things I learned is what Clay calls the "feminine pose". This is where the body is turned one way and the nose turned the other. It's a classic pose and has really helped my portrait photography business. Don't miss this one!

Clay Blackmore is a very talented and passionate photographer I've seen. Its always nice to see him in classes. I love to see his classes and always keen to attend his classes but unfortunately couldn't except once as I'm from India. I'm always keen to get more knowledge from him.

  • Stephanie L. Aug 5, 2015

WOW!! I learned more in DAY ONE with Clay than with 3 other photographer's entire workshops! Clay is generous, engaging, passionate, talented, giving and so knowledgable. I highly recommend his workshop!! MONEY WELL SPENT!!

  • Stephanie L. Aug 5, 2015

I have already swept through 15 Clay Blackmore videos today. He really is fantastic and completely engaging. NOBODY seems to teach portraiture this way anymore…CLASSIC poses that truly just work and it is so great to learn from someone who is a true master. All Clay's advice on communication and how to turn your efforts into dollars is really an added bonus. After all, we all love photography but to learn how to turn that passion into dollars? Now THAT'S truly priceless!!! Thanks so much Clay.

Clay Blackmore..could his enthusiasm be any more contagious? He is just AMAZING!!! Explains everything SO well and his demos are great. I have watched two of his classes and about to sign up for ALL the classes he offers…this great guy is the full meal deal!!

  • John Z. Jan 27, 2015

Clay Blackmore is the real deal in portrait photography. The guy is a bundle of creative energy and technical mastery. I took portraiture with Monte Zucker, and am glad to have Clay now as his successor. This concepts in this course are the rudiments. They'll never change, regardless of trends and fads. Clay is also very likable and fun to watch work. Keep your ears peeled for every word. When Clay points out those many little details, they all count. Love the course, and have a ton of respect for Clay. He's a portrait master, and a great guy. What else could any portrait student hope for?

If you are a new or old-school photographer, this course is absolutely a must have reference! Clay's expertise and passion make this class invaluable. The models rock as well. "Mission-Accomplished"!

I purchased the course for a few specific things listed in the description, and after being able to see some of the previews and wrap ups for the day. After the purchase and going through them, I have found that the value of this course is well above what I paid. Clay does not walk you through the course, he runs through it holding your hand like you are both being chased through Central Park by Godzilla! Everything is explained well and examples are both amazing and inspiring. I am still taken back that there is so much useful information here in this program, well worth a look for anyone wanting to get started, improve, or if you are just looking for some new techniques.

  • S. Aug 3, 2013

Clay is a very enthusiastic presenter and he has some very pointed information. This class has elements of a do it "step-by-step" and also "watch how I do it", both of which I find very helpful. Clay is fun to watch and a very heart-felt guy. You will have to watch to see why. It's worth my time and money.

Clay has been taught / mentored by one of the best that there ever was. Monte Zucker! I was there. Monte is gone now, but his spirit still lives. Welcome Clay. I will be there to see how true to the Master…
