DIY documentary-style shorts.
Fantastic course! Packed with firsthand information. Griffin knows what he’s talking about and presents it in his own unique style, which more people should do—I love that. It’s educational and authentic. Great value for money. 5 out of 5 stars!
Was a really wonderful course for beginners and even those with experience. Loads of helpful tips and things to look out for.
This is brilliant. Griffin is such a generous, self-deprecating filmmaker you just can't help but love him. He goes into great detail on just how he makes his documentaries and other work and is so inspiring, mostly because he is a one-man band and produces such interesting and wonderful videos. Thank you Griffin and CreativeLive for offering this.
This is a class with a lot of information that is very helpful. I found it invaluable. It was especially helpful to learn how he made his money back publishing it on different platforms and the plan he had.
i could recognize a good story no better than i could before watching and listening to this presentation.
Absolutely recommend this course to anyone looking to film a documentary! Griffin is a marvelous Teacher! Thank you so much!!!
Griffin is a great teacher, some very useful tips and lots of ground covered.
Griffin covered a lot in this class - great teacher!
This course details the amazing journey into how Griffin Hammond creates a short documentary, but also his thought process on how he shoots and why he chooses to shoot certain shots. Griffin also has a great teaching style, the fact that he advocates on shooting with minimal gear is amazing. There was nothing intimidating about the gear he used or currently uses, but rather a real concentration on the story. I have also been really curious about creating some form of video content and this course truly put me at ease, that it is possible with very little gear.
This was very helpful! Watching Griffin walk through every practical aspect of making a short documentary was very illuminating. Well worth it!
Very helpful course! Thank you, Griffin for sharing your knowledge.
Really enjoyed this class. Both the practical aspects, as well as the discussions about the making of SRIRACHA and explanations of distributing it etc. Great presenter and team all working on bringing it to life.
Great class! Griffin has got this class packed with everything you need to know to be able to make a documentary. Griffin's style of teaching is very accessible and the build-up of the information is really good. I would definitely recommend this class to any aspiring documentary maker.
Just finished this class by Griffin. I really enjoyed it. As a relatively "new" blogger, I found all of the information he presented to be informative, easy to understand and inspiring. I recommend this class to anyone thinking of getting into video shooting / editing etc.
Griffin provided just what I was looking for in setting up an interview, lighting with a single light and how to effectively use jump cuts. His humble approach to shot prep, shooting style and explaining other possible options helps to start creative thinking in new directions.
An excellent resource, no matter what area of filmmaking you are interested in! Thanks Griffin!
Griffin Hammond is a delight to behold. His positive, can do attitude is fantastic. His advise and knowledge for shooting as a one man or small team crew is brilliant. He opens up every topic from gear he uses, to shooting skills, editing, gathering footage and even distribution platforms with his profit and loss figures for his project. An absolutely brilliant class for any filmmaker, worth every cent. Griffin you rock.
I have always been a fan of Griffin Hammond, especially with his 'why not' attitude. This course has given me so much insight on filming in documentary style, so much great information that is worth so much more than the price tag, worth the purchase!
After watching this I feel I can start shooting my first short doc. I especially appreciated the gear recommendations and editing tips. Enjoyable and worthwhile course. Thank you!
This is great course which I could learn essential part of documentary in very short time. This course is absolutely recommended to whom want to learn documentary filming making in real industry in tight budget. Thanks for sharing valuable information, Griffin!
I am new to filmmaking and I found this course very useful and interesting. Specially I found the detailed explanation about shooting interviews very useful. I like his style and the idea that you can just go and shoot a whole documentary on your own with a minimum equipment. I think anybody who is learning about shooting documentaries could benefit from this course. I haven´t watch Sriracha yet but I´m going to do it right away.
I really enjoyed this course. I'm making my first documentary – this is a huge help for me.
First off, if you have not watched Sriracha, go and do that. The techniques that Griffin used in it are pretty incredible. This course expands on those techniques and what really surprised me about this course is how simple the setup is that he uses to make some absolutely amazing documentaries. The quality of what you can produce with the most basic of equipment is really mind-boggling. Some of the most interesting stuff was about B-Roll and how to use it to create a visually interesting presentation. The idea of a lot of small clips that show specific information is invaluable. The techniques he uses to create shots like the one where the camera was placed on top of a cart and pushed down an aisle was amazing. More than anything else, the ideas and tips I came away with have helped me find ways of making my own videos much more interesting.
This was a great class & I learned a lot from it....
This is a great class first up with some great info and technique's that will save you lots of time and expense. The target is for someone wanting to improve and to learn from an actual doer with solid experience wanting to go from basic to intermediate. Griffin now needs to do an update on how Casey actually makes those cool time-lapse and engaging clips LOLS Mike
