Hello there, AxeFX-users or AxeFX-soon-to-be-a-user :) This is an absolute must if you ever want to get the most out of the AxeFX very fast, with minimum effort. Of course, extensive digging in the black box and personal experience and experiencing are absolutely nevessary afterwards to maximize the investment in this class. I also bought the masterclass, also great things explained in a simple and direct way. Check out Cooper's page too, solo a week, interesting and good for learning new less known solos. One recomandation, though. Please, Cooper, re-record or at least add new information, the firmware has passed many-many upgrades since then. Would be nice to see what Quantum firmware hides, and a master-user can uncover for us. Anyways, great value for the money. Razvan
First off, thanks to the guys at CreativeLive for bringing this course out. I use an Axe-Fx standard, and was apprehensive about purchasing this class...was wondering whether the information presented would be redundant, But the purchase was well worth. Cooper explains the nuances of the Axe-Fx very well...as well as various tips on getting a 'pro' sound. The class on getting a high gain tone was worth it !!. highly recommended.
I got my Axe-FX II XL+ a couple of days ago. I plugged it into my amp and started through all the presets without reading but a few pages of the manual. It would be an understatement to say I was underwhelmed with what I was hearing. I found this class, spent the day going through it and figured out several things I was doing wrong, like leaving the cabs on going into my amp. I am now getting fantastic sound and loving the Axe. Cooper is a excellent guitarist and instructor. I highly recommend this class !! Thank You Cooper
I've owned my Axe FX-II XL for about a month now and have been loving the sounds and capabilities of this beautiful product. That being said, it is probably one of the most complicated tools I have used with trying to dial in great tones to perform with my band live. This beginner stage class by Cooper has been more than worth it for me. I have spend dozens of hours dialing in sounds like a blind mouse trying to find its hole, and have come up with interesting and usable sounds; but this class has really helped me develop a better feel for good starting points on developing the tones I want to create. Not only is Cooper and outstanding guitar player, but he's a really cool guy, and presents the material articulately and in a manner that is interesting and easy to digest. The production of this online class video is 1st rate.
I've owned an Axe FX just shy of a year, but I'm no "power user" as I don't gig and only play at home. I had no problem ponying up the money for this course, as I've been a fan of Cooper from his YouTube channel. Cooper is an excellent teacher and he definitely showed me some options I hadn't considered in terms of routing and effects. If something like this had been around when I first got the Axe, I would definitely be further along in my knowledge than I am now. Please make an advanced users course, that would be awesome.
Cooper covers the basics here and is a well spoken, excellent teacher who happens to be ultra cool and super sharp. What I didn't like was the $10 price hike days after the release, and that repricing soured me on my first purchase at Creative Live. But on with the review, I believe there is a need for more direction in programming this box, and I'm glad CC took it on. He goes thru programming clean, dirt, crunch, and shred - and then combines them all in a suite of scenes- Well done indeed! Going forward CL, take into consideration the age of youtube, where learning is [currently] free. While I now earn 6 figures, I remember when I was a young guitarist without the means, trying to assemble / learn my gear.. a $29-$39 price point would be more reasonable for most musicians, and knowing your audience is a business in and of itself. Thanks, and rock on Cooper - !
As an old school tube amp player I am new to the Axe FX II XL. Now that I was informed my name has come up on the waiting list I figured what better way to get a jump start about learning how to master the ins and outs of this piece of gear by ordering this course. Looking forward to taking delivery of my unit in the next week. I know this course will be a great help in teaching me how to master the operation of what will be my new world touring guitar rig. HERE GOES EVERYTHING!!
Very well done. I learned a lot, and enjoyed each tutorial. Cooper nailed it. Great job all.
Cooper Carter delivers some great information in this course. I purchased my AxeFX less than six months ago, and this course helped me understand how leverage more of this powerful system. Cooper is an enthusiastic instructor, and did a great job of preparing the material for video instruction. These video classes should be part of every new owner's "welcome package".
I just finished session #1 on setting up clean tone. I built the same preset while following along with the tutorial and was extremely pleased with the end result. I got sidetracked a few times because I was enjoying playing with the new preset and ended up taking an hour and a half to get through the lesson. Previously, I always seemed to find an existing preset and tweaked it until I got close to what I was looking for. I never seemed to develop the ability to scratch build my presets and as a result, my progress in learning the Axe FX was a bit stagnant. These tutorials have rekindled my interest in taking this box to the next level. I'm confident now that I'll be able to become much more proficient at squeezing out the sounds I'm looking for. Like many others, I've been hoping someone with Cooper's expertise would take the time and effort to offer up these types of tutorials online. Cooper is an excellent instructor. The training is well paced and perfectly suited for my level of ability. Well worth the price of admission! Thank you.
Excellent!!!
Great tutorial. I bought the Axe just a few days before and the information I got from Cooper really helped me to get started with more than just trying out presets. Recommended!!
Great class! Cooper is a great inspiration, a great guitarist and a great teacher! Never heard of him before this class, but he really nailed some tips and tricks in the Axe FX! I want more classes with him or/and other with same skills regarding the axe fx! Again; really inspiring! Also liked the guy next to him asking web questions! The production was great to! Good quality! I wish there were more camera angels the viewer should be able to choose from, like the screen, the MFC and the display of the Axe… not very important, but could be useful in some sequences… anyway… Thank you!
As a new comer to the Fractal Audio Axe Fx and MFC 101 this class helped me build a good foundation of knowledge to move forward. The little tips and tricks I picked up watching the the live Axe Edit while Cooper was building presents were quite helpful. I would recommend this course to anyone using the Fractal system as it has something for everyone. As a long time musician I'm very comfortable with rack gear, but this system is so robust you're cheating yourself if you don't learn from experienced users. Cooper Carter and CreativeLive did a great job with this one, thanks!
An excellent class. It's filled with a lot of great information on how to create fantastic tones with the Axe FxII. Cooper guides you through complex processes by explaining everything in a manner that is easy to grasp and understand. You truly get to unleash the power of the unit.
I've only gone through the first two videos so far. I am very pleased with what I've seen so far. Cooper always does a great job with his videos, very professional. Anything Fractal Audio related always over delivers. I look forward to future videos. Thanks guys!
Thank You Cooper for this excelent information on the AXE FX - I understand a lot more now and my presets soung a lot better now. I will watch it surely many mor times - Cooper You're wellcome to do another one anytime.
A winning combination (Axe-FX II with Cooper Carter)... Just started using the Axe-FX II and this class just gave me the best startup for this amazing magic box. Cooper Carter did an amazing job at getting the basic covered and I feel this course is worth every penny. Now, I'm hoping for an advanced course hat will cover the more advanced topic for both the Axe-FX II and MFC-101. There is so much to learn here and an advanced course is the next step. i.e. expression pedals config in various setup, using Mission SP-1, Sp-2, EP-1, re-amping setup, creating IR. This course is at the top of the best training I had recently. CC is an excellent musician and he knows the Axe-FX II inside/out, the end result is having a high level musical training of this magical box. Love the interaction of web/live audiences and real time explanation with demo, tips/tricks. Thank you Cooper Carter and Creative Lab for making this course, I will view this one again for sure. Don't stop here, time to start working on the follow-up, more advanced course. It will be a hit for sure...
Cooper Carter did an outstanding job teaching this class. Bravo! Even though I am somewhat familiar with the AxeFx I still learned things. There is soo much to learn about the AxeFx and MFC101 that I would like to see another class that takes off from here and delves even deeper into the AxeFx and MFC101. Namely, covering the more advanced parameters and settings for both as well as setting up pedals with the MFC101, such as the much used Mission SP-1 and SP-2 being used in various ways. Mainly the SP-2 to control more than one effect block, etc. Loved the real time step-by-step programming examples Cooper did and the video shots were excellent. Have since watched each video segment several times and learn something every time I do. It was well worth the $40.00. Now I want even more... Bring it on. Well done...
Great class. Very informative.
Well paced and useful. I got a lot out of this class.
Awesome class and instructor. I have had my axe fx 2 for about 6 months. It can be overwhelming because it has so much power and capabilities. It was very helpful to watch someone with knowledge of it to use it to see how to navigate the options and use some of the featured functions. I would like to see more from this instructor and on the axe fx.
great job! really helped fill in some gaps in my axe programing. I will watch it many times
I wish I had this course at the time I purchased my Axe Fx II about a year ago. It was very helpful to watch Cooper go through this state of the art and very complex guitar preamp. Great course Cooper, nice job!
I have really enjoyed this course. For a new AxeFX owner, this is a great place to start to understand how the AxeFx works and what some of the possibilities are for dialing in your own tone. Cooper does a nice job walking through some of the different blocks and giving a high level overview of their purpose and function. He also provides some useful tips/tricks for making your tone a little tighter, removing flub in the bass, etc. Additionally, he does a nice job covering the basics of scenes (which I think is more relevant to those who own the MFC foot pedal), how to set up and execute tone matching, how to re-amp, and then provides a brief dive into slightly more advanced topics such as modifiers and how you can use them with expression pedals to control sounds. If you are looking for a good basic intro/overview to the Axe Fx, I think this video does a great job. If you a looking for a super deep dive into all of the knobs and buttons with a detailed explanation of what they do (i.e. the power amp section, eq, etc.), you will have to wait for a different video. Hopefully this was just the first of a series of videos Cooper will do with CreativeLive, and these more advanced topics will get covered later. And hopefully they won't wait too long to do another course.
