Write Your Book: Start Strong and Get It Done with Jennie Nash

As a pantser, I try to not get angry at the lack of respect for differences in how people write. There are many best-selling pantsers, just as there are hybrid writers who do both. There is no one way to write, and no one correct way to write. That said, for a pantser like myself, this class and handouts will be useful after I've written the story and am engaged in the revision phase.

This course offers everything an aspiring author needs to get their book off the ground. Way too many writers dive into drafting without first taking the time to really think about the fundamentals of storytelling. Jennie Nash lays out those fundamentals in an entertaining and easily digestible manner. This course is a must watch for anyone wanting to take the craft of writing seriously.

This is the first class I purchased on CL. I listened in on the Live Streaming day, taking notes furiously while feeling sooo blessed to finally have found such an outstanding industry expert who knew -- really knew -- what writers problem areas and blindspots were. Furthermore, Jennie is a GREAT teacher who doesn't just tell her listeners how to do things smarter but takes us by the hand and leads us through smart exercises or great stretches of well laid out logic that is deeply illuminating on how to do our job, LOADS better! And that, in the 1st draft instead of the 5th or 10th (if we're still tenacious enough to be hanging in by then.) I purchased it because streaming quality was poor (not sure why, I have top rate streaming package; made me think it could be a CL purposeful thing) and the course content too great to not own. I've started relistening, and will do so as many times as I need to in order to receive full benefit from Jennie's obvious expertise and great instruction. For ANYONE starting out in the world of novel or memoir writing, I DEEPLY RECOMMEND you get this course along with Lisa Cron's Story Writing one. With the 2 of them you will have done yourself the biggest favor EVER on the learning curve of the art -- and the science -- of writing the best book you're capable of.

Jennie's inspiring class and workbook that come with it make the process of starting a new novel less stressful! With the workbook I was able to sit down and think methodically and realistically about, Does this story REALLY work? Is this story REALLY going places? The workbook made it so much easier to honestly and dispassionately answer those questions. I don’t feel like I’m running around chasing every story squirrel or shiny story object. I’m not falling down the research rabbit hole until I’ve at least determined if it’s a rabbit I want to chase.

I've been mentioning to other writers I know several the nuggets from the class. When a friend said she was having trouble coming up with the right ending for her memoir/novel I spoke to her about doing the three pairs and she grasped onto the idea seeing how it would help her. I plan to use Jennie's totally different system for making an outline that isn't just about plot. Oh and I was very interested in how to find comp titles. There was just so much in this that I watched it several times.

Loved watching Jennie give this class. She brings great clarity to the writing process that for so long for me, has been so daunting. This was a fantastic class. I watched the entire class for free. Then I bought the class because there was so much excellent material in it that it will take multiple veiwings for me to absorb it all. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to write a book.

This compilation of lessons could be called "The Best of Jennie Nash!" It's that good! Jennie provides great insights, practical tools, and advice for any writer. I liked it so much that I bought the class for my wife to help her get started on her writing journey. I know she's going to like it!

I love listening to Jennie Nash, especially for free any day. But I found this class to be so valuable, I bought it in a flash. I recommend it for anyone working on a novel. Even if you are well into a manuscript, this class will give you structure to understand your plot/emotional trajectory as well as the audience you are writing for. This class was inspiring and motivating. Jennie Nash brings logic, structure and concrete methods / tools, to have me believe I can do the heavy lifting and write to completion. I could list a multitude of things I learned in Write Your Book: Start Strong and Get It Done, but a short summary of what I realized I need to do after answering all the questions in the workbook are: 1) Get More Specific 2) Make Conscious Decisions 3) Story is malleable, rewrites inevitable 4) Set an end goal No matter where you are in the writing process, I happen to be revising a completed draft, all the questions you examine and answer, in this course will be applicable and helpful to getting your book written.

I found the course and the workbooks incredibly useful, not just for my next project but for my WIP. I’m in the UK but I felt like I was there in the room. I'd really recommend this class and further coaching if you can afford it. I'm a former client of Author Accelerator and thanks to them, I now have the confidence to finish my first draft.

I am impressed with Jennie's step-by-step instructions on story-writing. How I wish I had this information before I'd spent years writing and rewriting (and rewriting...) my manuscript. Jennie is an excellent lecturer ("um" isn't in her vocabulary). Her suggestions to participants in the class are invaluable. Too bad she doesn't lead writers' workshops in the Bay Area. I'd join in a heartbeat.

Having come from to the class with some basic idea for a book Jennie's course gave me the structure and in's and out's of how to get it done. I need structure and this course spelled it out step by step. Looking forward to starting my writing journey!
