This class explores how traditional hand embroidery techniques have evolved into a contemporary creative practice. Modern embroidery blends classic stitches with minimalist design, bold typography, abstract shapes, and illustrative patterns. In this session, beginners learn how to work confidently with needle and thread while developing an understanding of texture, line, and composition on fabric.
Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises, this class covers essential stitches, proper hoop setup, thread handling, and design transfer methods. Participants will practice foundational stitches such as back stitch, satin stitch, and French knots while exploring how stitch direction, density, and color choice influence the final design. By the end of the session, attendees will have completed a small stitched piece and gained the confidence to begin their own modern embroidery projects.
This class includes a dedicated 30 minutes of Q&A directly with Jade Scarlett.
