The Pacing and Emotional Timing in Video Editing seminar focuses on how editors shape emotion not just through how they cut, but when they cut. Pacing is one of the most powerful storytelling tools an editor has. It determines tension, release, comedy, drama, and how long an audience stays emotionally connected to a scene. In this seminar, you’ll learn how timing choices influence how a scene feels, and why technically “correct” edits can still fall emotionally flat.
Through practical examples and scene breakdowns, this seminar explores how pacing changes based on story intent, performance, genre, and audience expectation. Topics include letting moments breathe, tightening for momentum, using pauses intentionally, and recognizing when emotional timing matters more than visual continuity. By the end of the session, attendees will have a stronger instinct for shaping rhythm and emotion through editorial timing.
The class is designed for beginner to intermediate editors and can be followed in any NLE, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or similar editing software.
This class includes a dedicated 30 minutes of Q&A directly with Michael Venzor.
