Its 100% beneficial. BIANCA MASCORRO skills of teaching are great . Thank you !
Omg I can't not hear her smacking and the word um :( I don't mean to be hurtful but her content was there but I couldn't make it more then half way At one point I swear she was doing the smacking or tsk on purpose. Maybe if that was worked on people could appreciate how great the content is?
This class was exactly what I needed to re-gain confidence in hand lettering. I majored in illustration 10+ years ago and while I did take a typography class in school, it's been many years and I was feeling rusty and nervous about hand lettering. This class refreshed my memory on various typography principles and gave me ideas on various styles I can reference to create my own lettering. I love the format where I can watch her example and then try it for myself - it's like training wheels and works perfectly for me as a visual learner. Annica is obviously a pro at what she does and she's also really good at explaining what she's doing and why. I am really happy with this class and thankful to Annica for sharing her knowledge and experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Annica clearly knows her stuff and explains well how to draw the different types of letters. I'm very inspired and will be continuing to learn how to draw letters better. Some reviewers are complaining about the f word that's in one of the slides. Man, it's just s stupid word. As an adult (parent/teacher/guardian) if you can't even explain the definition, context, and significance of that word, you've got a lot of rough years ahead of you while trying to parent or teach a young one. The inclusion of the word has no affect on the content of the class. Get over it! And there are complains about her nuanced delivery style. Please! Find something more significant to complain about.
Great course for anyone interested in the fundamentals of Visual Notetaking. The lessons are clear, well explained, you have enough time to practice. I definitely recommend this course!!
I really had fun doing the actives with the clads. I learned several ways to take notes visually. She had a clear curriculum of topics she wanted to teach and conveyed her knowledge with power point presentation along with live examples. Very good!!
Ok I can't wait to get practicing
I would recommend anyone interested in Calligraphy to take this course. I liked that she took the time to explain the basic strokes and the importance of practice. I also enjoy her being authentic letting me know that with all her years of doing this she still does warm up strokes before tackling a project.
Fantastic in every way. Drawn in from the very beginning.
Fantastic course. Inspired me to think about note taking
She's good at what she does. I learned a lot in this class.
Great class! The instructor was engaging and accessible. This was a bit of a crash course, which is understandable given that most of the work involved in being good at sketchnotes is independent practice. Giselle provided a thorough overview of the foundations and offered suggestions for preparation, practice and continued professional development.
I'm not a visual notetaking professional, but I am an educator. I plan to use multiple elements of what I have learned in this course to bring better visual elements to my oral presentations (i.e., using whiteboards and Livescribe pens) for lectures and other real time and recorded presentations (online learning).
Good instructor, nice materials, well organized. I would take another course with this instructor. My problem with the course was the editing? Camera choice? I didn't go to film school so I don't know if this course was a multi-camera shoot, later edited or shot like a sporting event with a director jumping from camera to camera. Whatever the case, the beginning of most demonstrations were late on getting to the paper and brush so we missed the beginning of the demonstration and as she didn't necessarily repeat every letter or number we often just missed out. Would have been great if a more lecture based sort of course but not so good for demonstration based learning.
Loved it - has really inspired me to develop this skill!
I really enjoyed this class. I am a beginner sketchnoter and found it very helpful. Great pace and delivery by instructor. Every minute was worth it. Thank you!
Can someone PLEASE ask her to stop smacking her lips and saying Ummmmmm, it is it very distracting. It is giving me a spastic colon so I have to click off of her. Great info but her nervous tick is nerve racking.
So great!
Very informative and practical.
Nice intro to brush lettering. I wish there had been more close up's of how the instructor did each letter. She seemed to brush (pun intended) over how to do some of the letters rather quickly. Overall it was an easy way to learn more about lettering in about an hour. If you're wanting an easy crash course this is a good place to start. If you're looking for something more in-depth and guided you might want to opt for a different course.
The class was concise, informative, interesting and quite enjoyable. Great job!
A very thorough and engaging class. I love Laura's fonts so it was really a joy to observe her process and thought behind her lettering.
Wonderful overview of sketch noting with tons of opportunities to practice, learn, and refine skills! Appreciated the side benefits of recognizing sketchnoting involves active listening and the opportunity to practice that too. Thank you! 110% recommend this course.
The course is fun and light. I found the exercises very useful as a way to get to know how the tools work. I also enjoy seeing the work from the students and their progress. Thank you Laura! 2019 is my year for lettering.
The instructor provides some good examples of different ways you can address envelopes, with tips and tools to enhance your project. It would be useful if we could set the playback to a faster speed, since she can be a bit wordy :)
