I was thrilled to learn that this course was coming and was still surprised by how much Tom over-delivered on my already high expectations! I bought his riveting "Images of Nature" book from the Denver airport gallery a few decades back, where I was blown away by his prints. I've done eight freelance assignments for National Geographic across the decades, so my interest included teaching ideas and I loved his approach to this presentation. This was superb. I would highly recommend these 10 1/2 hours to any budding wildlife photographers!

Amazing course! Tom Mangelsen is not only an expert photographer but a super engaging storyteller. My photograph has already improved. Tom is now on my shoulder, out there with me -his voice and advice firmly in my mind guiding me with composition and just generally enjoying the experience of it all. Highly recommend his course!!

This class is a winner! What an amazing, awesome and inspiring class. Tom is not only an expert but a super interesting storyteller. I feel my photography has improved already. Tom is now on my shoulder guiding my composition decisions and more. Highly recommend!!

    Awesome!

What made this class truly delightful was the sense of getting to know Tom on a personal level, almost as if we were engaging in real-life conversations. His wit, coupled with his unwavering dedication to addressing every question, made the learning experience immensely satisfying. The extensive fieldwork showcased in the class underscored the dedication and passion behind it, which was truly commendable. For anyone passionate about wildlife and photography, this class is an absolute must-watch!

Possibly my favorite Creative Live class so far. The footage of field shooting sessions with Tom brings home the application of the technical information presented. I found it all very interesting and inspirational.

  • Vasili C. Aug 13, 2023

John is an excellent instructor. Regardless of your experience level, you will learn something new from John. He is clear in his descriptions and shares lots of tricks with the audience. I absolutely loved and enjoyed this course. A+++

What was especially enjoyable about this class was feeling like I got to know Tom on a level that would usually only be reserved for real-life interactions. His sense of humour and willingness to answer questions tirelessly were immensely gratifying, and the effort that went into making this class with all of the fieldwork was much appreciated. For anyone with a love of wildlife and photography this is a must watch!

like the clear explanation and the text that accompanied the exposition. Clear and simple with very good examples and tips for taking the photo and processing them later.

  • Anna F. Oct 2, 2022

I purchased this class over year ago and return to it again and again. John is such an excellent instructor. No rock (pardon the pun) is left unturned when describing how to get any landscape shot imaginable. I can see anyone, beginner or advanced liking this course.

This is the third class of that I have take by John Greengo. His classes are clean, concise, and well thought out. I appreciate the structured style and the amount of information that is presented. So far he is my favorite instructor on creative live.

Excellent course really opened my eyes in to how use my camera and how to improve my skills for a master at work

  • Chris A. Aug 31, 2021

Fantastic course and really love Marc's attitude towards his art. I learned a great deal during this course and can't wait to get out and test some theory on an upcoming trip to the Rockies. Thanks Marc!

A very useful insight into the various light situations of available light - and how to handle them. I like those short and effective overviews, giving one a mental concept.

  • Noelia Q. Jun 21, 2021

This class is the class you need when you start in photogrpahy. I've never found someone who explains light that simple, practical and concrete way. Thank you Matt.

This is my 5th CreativeLive course. I enjoyed most of the course. I am a senior citizen trying to take the best landscape and wildlife photos while traveling the country in my retirement years. Marc's presentations are excellent and well delivered. I learned a few new tips to try for the future. My only dislike was the last 10 lessons using Lightroom. I don't have Lightroom because a stand alone version can no longer be found and Adobe now has gone to a cloud based program requiring a yearly fee. I use Photodirector 12 and Photoimpression 6 which are stand alone programs. Photodirector 12 does a lot of what Lightroom does. Photoimpression 6 (no longer available) is a very old program that has a few features I use that are not in Lightroom, Photoshop or Photodirector.

I bought this class as part of a landscape bundle some time back, but had not watched yet. To get psyched up for a trip to Yellowstone May 2021, I finally got around to watching this. John Greengo is an excellent teacher. He is very organized and clearly took a lot of advance time preparing understandable lessons with great visual examples of each point. From lens selection, tripods, filters, scouting locations, shooting different landscape areas, panoramics, there is a ton of useful info here. 1. Some of the material touches on beginner level, but sometimes it's good to review your basics, and John does a good job of starting at square 1 for each lesson and moving the information into more advanced areas so people don't get lost. 2. I was surprised to see this class was created 7 years ago. Every bit of it is still timely and useful.

One of my favorite courses I've taken through Creative Live! But it didn't start out that way. I didn't know who Tom Mangelsen is, although I knew of his famous photo Catch of the Day. I was expecting the usual technical Powerpoint-like presentation on how to take wildlife photos. I was a little put off when the course started with Tom and his accomplishments. But by the end of the course, I loved it. With all the video material, this course was like virtually attending Tom Mangelsen guided tours. And it's in these virtual tours where you will learn technical aspects of wildlife photography, plus so much more. Rather than being a technical presentation, this course is more a holistic approach of what it means to be a successful professional wildlife photographer beyond the buttons and dials on your camera. I highly recommend it.

(negative) comments on the anecdotes and on the reminiscing are justifiable as there is a lot ... in the first 90 minutes. The other 10+ hours in my view are excellent for my purpose (I do not need base instruction, but was interested how Marc approaches his pictures and see what I can add to my own creative and editing processes). So did !

  • Don M. Nov 19, 2020

Marc is an excellent teacher in addition to being a worldclass photographer. Engaging, funny and he's done it all. Well worth the time and money.

  • Patrick R. B. Oct 2, 2020
