Day 3 Pre-Show

Hello, internet. Good morning, welcome to creative life and welcome to day three of scrapbooking with project life with becky higgins, for what I'm really sad to say is our final day of this wonderful three day course. This is your marie milk of it, and this is john kennedy o'connor, otherwise known as j k, and we've been so excited to be your host for the last three days or last two days. We've really had a great time with enjoy sharing all of your scrapbooking experiences and learning some new things in the last two days from afraid this is where it's going to wind later on today. But we just take a few minutes now before we get going to check our sound, to take a video, to make sure that you can see us to make sure that you can hear us. So here's your chance to jump into those chat rooms to give us a shout out to say hello, introduce yourself, tell us what you've enjoyed about the last couple of days and also of course tell us where you are in the world we have a truly global audien...

ce the last few days we have people in hong kong, we have people in the netherlands with people in germany, people in denmark and we've really enjoyed interacting with all of you in just a few minutes summary is going to jump into those chat rooms, so let us know we're joining us from today definitely when we started on wednesday, you were not a scrapbook er but we've actually exposed you you did expose me, you know, you really are you actually a very craft oriented person in many ways? Well, actually, some of the craft things that we've been doing here have broadened my horizons and opened up scratching the surface of that potential that I know I have s o that's exciting and so we're going to take away from the schools, do you think? Well, you know actually I'm taking away that sense of ease, but it's a lot easier than I thought, and it doesn't have to be this big to dio I mean, you could go as far as you want, you can also make it really simple that's, right? And that is actually a beauty of the project life system is still enormous amount of fun, but there's so many things that just made it all work perfectly. Yeah, and you know what? I'm really curious to know we have had a fantastic group of women. We call them the sisterhood, but really, this is an everyone hood here, but we want to let you get to know them if you're just joining us. So starting with michelle, let us know your name. If you want to tell us where we can find you online, I want to know what your big takeaways are. All right, I'm michelle deacon, I'm from morgan hill, california think I'm so far my biggest haha wass or when I took away was controlled jeezy clipping thing that was amazing, and I didn't know that I would sit and try and cut around all of it. Yeah, amazing. So that's my and that I don't have to be caught up all the time or scrapbook every single memory that I ever had. So that's, that's a really good point? Actually, I think a lot of people are saying in the chat rooms that they've been little bit daunted about all the things they've got to get going, but again, you could start anywhere. And I think it's always having a view where you want to end up, you know you'll get there in your own time at your own pace with this system actually helps you get there is great and you have five children I think you said did they help you with scrapbooking or member too young, you know? Yeah, right the two older yes you've got lots of child memories for them to save for the future that's going to be wonderful and welcome back to debbie I'm debbie down from san jose, california and I have to say from yesterday even though I'm familiar with photo shop, I learned some new tools from kevin and kind of his tricks with cropping was kind of fun and I just really love the simplicity of the system my sister, my daughter in law approached me the other day and said, I think a really good christmas gift for a teacher would for you to be doing a scrapbook of our family and I went, oh, really? I said and so I told her I said if I could do this system, I will do a scrapbook for you every year just month by month because all I have to do is slip the pages in so I'm really excited about it on the floor under they're gonna appreciate you, teo I think it's going to be fun but this pressure and connie welcome back to you know you came all the way from salt lake city has this has been a great week for you too it's been wonderful I'm really glad I came good experience thiss has been a great way I've learned I think that I can incorporate this into my existing scrapbooking habits I don't have to change everything but this is a great edition of my skill set and really fun fabulous now you actually started some scrapbooks either they were working on them in the hotel while you've been here in the city waiting out shopping I met my brother for dinner last night it's been really fun because I spend a great week we were that you came and tammy welcome back to you know tammy you have eight grandchildren I do things amazing ado scrapbook with them not with them per se but they're still on the young side that we will we will I'm excited I looked at that little little mini scrapbooks yesterday and thought, you know I'm going to sit with my grandkids and do that but I think I'm tammy castor summer class surveil california and I think if I've learned anything I've learned that I can give myself permission tio get myself out of that box that I've built around myself about how scrapbooking in my mind is and I think I'm going to try some digital on dh simplify that's what I I'm taken away I think some of the things we learned yesterday about how easy it is to actually digitize your your memories as well and put them into the books it was really fascinating mick fanning about that good thank you very much for being with us this week on rachel. Welcome back to you thank you. I'm rachel from sacramento and for me, I think the best takeaway moment was when becky said she took all her scrapbooks from up here and brought them down tio her kid's level and that you know, there are meant to be seen even if it's unfinished projects or whatever that that it's all about making the memories and not so much worrying about not finishing them up so that's what I really took away, I'm sure you've also found that this is the system makes it so much easier to finish that's the great thing about that? Yeah, it's really good and welcome back to lisa lisa came away from dallas. Yeah, my name is lisa johnson and I'm from dallas, texas and I'm on I have a blogger on the website if you on check it out it's lisa dash marie dash johnson dot blawg spot dot com kind of a mouthful and my takeaway has been teo I love back, he said, I give you permission to let go of the perfection because I am what like this a type personality and everything has to be by the rules and anything is better than nothing you know just do it and if it's not perfect who cares you know people are going to enjoy looking at and not go oh she missed a pitcher who cares just do it just do it I like that one as well and that's a really good one you have a daughter is very intersport so you venus or scrap booking her sportsman yes we'll definitely she wass cheerleading because we're from texas so you have to have football and cheerleading and yeah it's been great for her to see those pictures and I came on that's me I remember that game instead of it just being on my hard drive in her never remembering it I have something I want to ask you the end is who did shoot jail god we welcome back to you for joining us gadi from san bruno I think my big takeaway moment was getting my children more involved tend to just scrap book and it's about me and it's about me doing it and I'm really excited about getting the scrapbook started from my daughter and allowing her to do it and touch the stuff and do everything where instead of me saying no no no no I'll do it don't do it don't touch it and my second one was it's not backed up if it's not in three places I thought two was enough three makes sense backing out was a big hard moment for everybody yesterday wasn't it is something we never think about until it's too late, so wonderful that we really got over construction is fascinating saying about using helping your children get involved? I think you know, parents always have this horrible nightmare of a blue everywhere and glitter everywhere with this system. It's not like that your children really can get involved it's so simple to use you got that? Yeah, welcome back on here we go, my girlfriend, if you weren't with us yesterday, she was complaining that there were no single good looking men on the show, but she did clarify she didn't say that to be rich, so that that ruled me out, but it included brian, our producer but didn't mean is we love having you here welcome back things under these from kodiak, alaska, and my biggest takeaway is the validation that there's lots of people like me that spend a lot of time documenting their life, making their memories important and keeping them around just to know that I'm not alone doing this. This isn't just me doing it everybody's doing well, everybody that I know in this room is doing it, and so that validates that all the time that I'm spending cherishing my life. Is worthy that's my biggest takeaways like thanks everybody for playing with me way really enjoyed having you thank you for coming away from alaska. It's. Fantastic. Well, so summary how all the chat rooms doing that, but we've got a truly international meets again today. We do, but I first want to comment how fantastic and fun obviously it is to be a student here, and we have created a special special page for the students of creative live it's, creative live dot com forward slash front row that's where you can find out if there's some upcoming classes. If we have space for new students, and of course, you see how much fun they're having, we'd love to have you experienced that live now back to our global audience. First off, I can't even spit them all out, but we have some first timers like mary beth, who wishes she was in here earlier in the chat rooms. Welcome and yes, we have indiana, texas, d c, chicago, ontario, seattle, hawaii, nashville, queen creek, arizona I mean, I can't name them all, but some takeaways are in. Leslie says the batch processing was, well, sylvia see the ah ha was that I could scan my kid's art and shrink it, I knew that, but I didn't really and that didn't sink in until now. And mega mix says, I know now that I need to archive. So welcome. Welcome to all of you. Thank you so much for joining us wherever you are in the world today.

I have been involved with scrapbooking for many years and have made numerous purchases for supplies, a room full and then became so overwhelmed by all of it that I have done very little. The reason being, that I was so conscious of what everyone else was doing and mine never quite measured up to what I saw that others were doing with all the embellishments, and techniques. I then turned to card making because it was a much quicker gratification than studying and laboring over the perfect layout with the perfect paper and etc. I had gotten an earlier Project Life kit of Becky's a few years ago and because of a very busy life had never fully gotten the concept, but thanks to Creative Live and Becky I am on the right track now. I am so very motivated and have recently taken all of my photos out of old albums, boxes, etc. and have them at least in order by years so that now I can begin to document this life of mine. By the way, I just turned 70 and boy does that mean a lot of photos. I am equally excited to get an album started for each of my grandchildren that they can document their own lives. My three youngest are 9,11 and 13 and are so heavily involved in sports, community, church and life itself that they need to document this now, for sure they will forget when they are 70 and trying to play catch-up. I have been a fan and follower of all things Becky Higgins since the beginning of Creating Keepsakes and have always felt she was so very authentic in her aspect of documenting, living life and celebrating everyday living. She is awesome and thank you Creative Live for having her on and allowing so many of us to share in this 3 day event. I know I am catching this in the summer 2014 when In fact this was done in 2013, but better late than not at all. A very special thanks to Becky!!!

I am very excited to document my families life. I have 5 kids and a wonderful husband and life goes so fast. I feel like I do everything on the express train! However, this course was not for someone with the ADD brain. This 3 day course could have easily been consolidated down to one day.... maybe two. I think Becky is adorable, however, think she said the same thing over and over again just a different way. I am excited to start project life and review the videos as I need to.

I need help with organization and this class really helped. I also love the simplicity of Project Life. One of my favorite things was how pictures are taken of kids projects to preserve them rather than keeping the originals. Photos of hands has also become a new interest thanks to one of the guest presenters. This class was worth every penny!
