Building Infographics in Illustrator with Jason Hoppe

A big course about infographic design from a passionate teacher. The course is 6 years old but still interesting. As only some of the tools are updates but 90% is still relevant. Some updates would be nice for the newer versions of Illustrator. A part of the subscrution this course is really nice, you will learn a lot or build up some valuable experience.

Amazing class. I learnt so much. Jason's design process is fun to watch especially the way he tries different things until he finds the right one...that's how I like to do things too! He makes it all so easy. Thank you Jason.

Jason is an excellent teacher of the Adobe applications. I have watched several of his courses and he moves quickly and purposefully through the features in ways that are inspiring and supportive of the learners. His real-world examples may appear to be specific for graphic designers though they apply to anyone wanting to learn Illustrator or create simplified graphics for use in making patterns, logos, icons, and more. He is well-spoken; his explanatory style is confident and slightly humorous without wasting the learner's time. His classes are worth the time to watch and cost to purchase.

I got a lot out of this class. First I watched, then the second time followed along in Illustrator. Construction seems to come so easily to him, and I appreciate that I can copy his techniques and use them as a jumping off place for my own creations.

Do not know anything or virtually nothing about Illustrator? Are you in doubt about which class to purchase in Creative Class? Well, do not waste more time and take this course now! Make no mistake about the title: this is not a class only about Infographics. That's about all that matters in Illustrator. The content is pretty comprehensive and Jason explains it all very simply. A great teacher. This course was my kick-start in using Illustrator and all the knowledge I developed came from it. It was the best investment I ever made in digital learning.

Jason is my favorite CreativeLive instructor, and after viewing many, Building Infographics in Illustrator has become my favorite class. It's practically two classes in one since Jason shows how to build just about any image imaginable, using simple shapes and techniques, before he even begins teaching how to lay out an infographic. I've been a graphic design and agency owner for 20+ years and still learn from Jason, who shows so many little tips and tricks to getting things done. I continue to watch this course over and over whenever it is replayed.

I'm also a member of Lynda dot com and have been surfing many different illustrator tutorials. THIS IS THE BEST! By starting with basic shapes, using examples, and going step by step through the construction process, this class can teach you illustrator. Genius.

This class is so much fun... Jason makes it all look sooooo easy. I think I could watch this as entertainment even...

The courses are really good, BUT your hosts are just tooooo nice like dull, and not only in one or two courses, it's in every freakin course, come on man we are designers here not politicians, we're fun and cool. please work on the hosting thing, and thanks a lot for the very valuable infos.

Excellent course. Technical material throughout with very clear instruction. A must buy because I re-watched the videos several times. After finishing the course I had a much deeper understanding of Illustrator and ideas for making icons.

Jason is the kind of instructor I wish I could have had in school. He is super knowledgeable, yet he presents the information in a fun way and in such a manner that even a beginner can get the hang of it. I learned more in his class than I did during a semester. I'm not even through the second day yet and I'm thrilled with this class! Only thing, I wish he would go slower BUT then again, if he did, we wouldn't get SO MUCH information. I'm glad I purchased the class so I can go back and replay to my heart's content. Even though this class is based on creating infographics, the wealth of information is perfect for any project using Illustrator. I do wish he would have shown how to work with corners (for example) for those of us who do not have CC (I'm in CS6) so we could learn the "hard way without widgets" and the easier way with widgets. Jason is very funny and I love his direct approach to getting the job done while knocking a clients socks off. I look forward to many more classes taught by Jason.

fantastic course! this was the perfect way to get comfortable with some of illustrator's odd and hidden gems. i use illustrator every day, and i can't believe I've gone this long not knowing about the zigzag effect! excellent teaching - and i came away with a ton of tricks and great solutions to some major drawing problems I've been having. the infographic format was a perfect showcase for learning how to build shapes quick and easy - and without the pen tool! thanks!

I am not a beginner, but I am NOT a master either. I was looking for a class that would show me the new features of AI CC 2014, and found the perfect class. Working hard now on a project that I can utilize all I learned. BUT since I couldn't write fast enough, bought the class and can review the parts that I need when I need them. I just wish Jason would put his shortcuts into a pdf to add with purchase of the class. I'm going through the class again to try to find the ones that I missed, or know I heard, but can't remember in which session it was shown. I love the easy way in which Jason makes things so SIMPLE. I have to learn SIMPLE. Thanks CL and Jason.

Jason Hoppe is a fantastic instructor and is so so talented. He's amusing and creative, and I loved watching him work on the Infographics. I just wish I could keep up with him! It's hard to learn the steps when he's going so fast! I typically purchase the classes that Jason teaches, and I hope he will be teaching Photoshop 2014 for the 101 crowd very soon. I have been a self-taught Adobe Illustrator user for more than a decade and it's safe to say I knew just enough to be dangerous. Jason Hoppe's course brought enlightened me at warp speed - I learned more in the two day session than I have over the many years of dabbling in Illustrator. The keyboard short cuts, fluid style and confidence in which Jason moves through the tutorial and his calm and relaxing demeanor inspires creativity and a can-do spirit in anyone who sits down for these entertaining and highly educational tutorials. Wow! I learned more about Illustrator in two days, than I have learned over the past several years. Jason made it so easy to understand, and I am well on my way to creating my first infographic! I have posted some of the icons in the "Student work" section -- these icons will be used to create an infographic that compares creating your own cake and cupcake decorations vs. purchasing them. Once the infographic is completed, I will post that too. Another amazing class from a man with a seemingly unbelievably clear mind. So great at conveying the concepts of the program so that you can effectively learn actual methods but also walk away with enough information on the way the software is organized so that figuring out a solution to a design challenge, on your own, is light years easier and faster. i am thrilled with the broader grasp of the possibilities i learned. i could go on and on. It is absolutely a class worth taking whatever your level of expertise.
