Children and Family Photography with Tamara Lackey

This is my second class with Tamara. I like her, but i did not learn anything new... Too many informations about importance of family and adoption and her family, but not enough to learn about photography. About half of the class is four agreements

I enjoyed Tamara Lackey's course. She's a real pro and I liked how she connected with her clients.

There is a lot of content here. A lot. But I think I'll begin with what this class is not. If you're looking for specific, static posing, very specific lighting guidelines, or specific Photoshop techniques, this is probably not the course for you. It's not that she doesn't talk about them, it's just not the main emphasis of this course. What Tamara does talk about is some great techniques about how to deal with families and kids (especially kids!), keeping the shoot focused, loose and fun for the family. The class goes through a lot of photo shoots where she shows what one of here photo shoots look like (although the shoots are more abbreviated versions of her usual shoots.) There's also a lot of great information on how Tamara views her families, building relationships, and why family photography is such a passion for her. There are also some great tools that might help your workflow. What it means to be a professional to her. I could go on...and on... The 2 words I think of to describe Tamara herself would be "present" and "authentic". Her enthusiasm is contagious. She is great at thinking on her feet; I think that comes from years of experience and confidence. The advice I'd have when taking this course is if it maybe seems like the class isn't for you, hang in there...keep watching.

I have come back to reference this class time and again. It always gives me confidence and new ideas of how to keep my subjects engaged and interested as well as focusing on my technique. Tamara is an amazing teacher!

Tamera is a great instructor. I learn so much by watching her Creativelive classes. And she delivers her information in a very easy to grasp way. I loved this class! For anyone who shoots children and families.

This class was so great! I loved actually following Tamara on location and seeing her interact and pose with families. I am a new family photographer, and I can definitely course will change my career 100%. I just did a shoot applying a lot of the techniques I learned, and the results blew the family out of the water. Plus everybody had fun! Absolutely loved it, so glad I made the investment!

Thank you! Thank you for bringing Tamara back to Creative Live! She is one of my favorite teachers! She has a bubbly effervescence as she teaches. I like her teaching style and never tire of her message in photography. Tamara has a way of working with her models/ clients that makes you want to just jump through the screen to participate in the process! Her portrait stories share her zest for life. She has great business ideas as well as for life and family. A truly balanced instructor for the beginning photog as well as a seasoned professional. Refreshing concepts about how to deal with challenging situations with lighting, posing, and interaction with her families. It's hard to pick a favorite section - the entire class was just great! A wonderful resource for your library to refer back to time and again. Keep up the great work Tamara. You inspire me to get out and shoot!

Tamara packed so much practical information into this course - from challenging lighting/shooting situations that we all deal with, to new ways to approach kids/families and their individual personalities, shooting tips, equipment recommendations, and a variety of helpful business tips - still processing everything I learned! Not only was the information itself useful, but Tamara's energy and passion/drive behind how she approaches her business and clients has inspired me on so many levels.

What can I say- it's Tamara Lackey, so of course it was AMAZING! I learned so much, about relationships, self awareness, lighting, portraiture, posing, gear, marketing, products, I could just go on and on. Tamara has an incredible ability to truly connect with her clients (and her students)- and she taught us how to do it! I admire Tamara on so many levels and I appreciate how much of herself and her own business practices she was willing to share. Her new organization Beautiful Together is inspiring. Thank yo Tamara Lackey and Creative Live for such an amazing course. Every tool that is needed to maintain a successful business is in this course. Tamara's appreciation for love and family are so apparent in her style of interaction with people and methods of photographing them. In this class she shares everything from the basics of connecting with your clients to the importance of in person sales sessions and how to do them without being uncomfortable. I love Tamara's energy and sense of humor. She really emphasizes how important it is to be self confident and love what you do. This class is amazing. I can barely sit still through a movie these days, but I was entranced through 3 consecutive days of highly valuable information. I am thankful to have this class in my CL library. I am sure I will refer to it often.

Tamara is as much a view of a positive way to live life and interact with others as she is a very, very good photographer. The portraits are full of the life of each family. I am still processing how much I learned about relationships with others along with the technical aspects of a portrait session that results in images of the many ways families care for each other.

My first time watching...i'm new to creative live... I LOVED Tamara's class, shes great, i totally recommend... Can't wait to continue learning with creative live!
