Learn the tools and settings you need to make a proper print
Photography’s history is rooted in the creation of a print. In this class, we will take a look at the tools and options you need to consider in both Adobe® Lightroom® and Adobe® Photoshop® to ensure that you get the best print possible. Over the course of the class, we break the printing process down into a few key areas in an attempt to simplify the process and still make sure that you get the best print possible. To make sure we start from the best place possible, we will touch on proper color management, paper selection, and other pre-printing considerations. We then shift our focus to Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. We take a look at the tools and settings you need to use to make an amazing print. Finally, we spend a little time talking about final presentation considerations such as editions, signing, and framing.
SOFTWARE USED:
Adobe Photoshop CC 2017, Adobe Lightroom CC 2015
Daniel gives a very enlightening review of the process for making sure that what is printed matches what is seen on a monitor. And he doesn't waste time on non-productive dialogue. The course is fast-paced and rich in content. It is worth watching more than once to be sure that all of the tips and processes are understood. EXCELLENT!
This course is just an hour and a half. I wish it was a ten hour course because how amazing the content and instruction is. Thank you Daniel, it was informative, interesting, fun, and full of valuable information.
Liked it however I didn’t get much new knowledge. Looking for in depth about retaining shadow detail, how to correctly upsample and more complete image workflows showing final prints.
I devoured this course like a good Netflix binge on a cold, frosty winter night. The instructor, Daniel Gregory, is extremely knowledgeable and most importantly he's a great teacher. Working as a Creative designer for 30+ years, I found this course helpful to me because I recently purchased a digital printer. that was driving me insane with random unexpected color shifts. Although this course was created in 2017, I would recommend this to anyone troubleshooting a modern color printer, such as the new Canon PIXMA PRO-200, that becomes available in 2020 and later.
This is the second course I've taken by Daniel Gregory. Both times I have taken away something valuable to my photography. He explains things in a manner that I can understand. Daniel is a great instructor. I'm sure I'll being taking more classes by him.
I decided to get more into the nuts and bolts of the printing process and learned a lot here. I send out to a lab but there is still a lot of good information here to better understand the process.
Excellent helped solve a few print issues.
This was such a great use of my time. It’s straightforward, filled with a ton of great information, and gets into the nitty gritty of all the Print settings in both Lightroom and Photoshop. Big thumbs up.
This was a very informative class. My only regret was that there didn't seem to be enough time to cover everything. Felt rushed.
Great course! Daniel's ability to walk you through all aspects of properly printing is very helpful. His passion for the 'art' of printing is evident throughout this video. I am really excited and certainly more confident in my ability to enjoy printing as well. I hope that he develops further courses on printing. Cheers, Keith
This gave me the overall overview about the photography printing process I needed to get started, answering many of the questions I have about paper type and printing size I needed to be answered.
I have no experience with printing and found this to be a good overview that helped me understand the various things that are involved with printing. That said, I now need a much more in-depth class! Note that this class assumes you have a working knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom. I wish there were as much detail about LR as there is with PS. Also, it assumes you have a printer. Since many of us might not want to/be able to invest in that just yet, it would be good to have information on how to prepare a file to send to a print shop. For example: what settings should the file have (I guess printer and paper, but anything else?), how to choose a shop, what questions to ask, what the proofing process should be like, etc. I recommend this class to get an understanding of the basics but expect to need to learn more depending on your situation and setup.
Excellent course. The content of this course is exactly what has been missing in my workflow and Daniel explained them eloquently. The course was short but lots goes to be learned. If Daniel has another course, I would definitely sign up.
Very useful course and Daniel is a great instructor. I appreciated his knowledge and the fact that he didn't assume the audience were rank beginners who did not know anything. I would love more in depth courses from him on workflow and printing.
Top Class information ! Thank you very much for taking the time to deliver a very professional and insightful first hand hand experience across to us - regards the final and the most important aspect - getting our images printed, we should all be printing more, and getting due value & pleasure out of our prints.. Many years ago i struggled with alto few books to make sense (not being in any form of print industry) to get to grips with this, wish these instructional / very helpful videos had been around then. thanks again CreativeLive & Daniel Gregory.. Most of this was new to me. I think it is a very good general entry course which tells you things you need to consider. Obviously an expert. Thank you.
Good Class. Shame everything was so quickly presented. Lots of information (very needed) left out. Daniel is a good communicator.
easy to understand, straight to the point and an entry-level class. if you are looking for an advanced class this is not what you want but I would definitively recommend that class!
Excellent course, has really helped me untangle the mysteries of printing and profiling. The demonstrations in Photoshop and Lightroom were extremely useful as the dialogues are not always very intuitive. Thanks Daniel.
This is a very good course, well-suited for both beginners and advanced intermediate photographers. It is very well organized. Daniel Gregory is well-informed and an excellent instructor. There's no fluff or wasted time in this course, just good solid instruction. Though I've got years of printing behind me, I learned a lot from this course and expect to view it again to pick up more of the fine points he addresses.
This course is money well spent. I have reviewed this tutorial many times. It's just excellent. I appreciate that I can come back over and over and review the class.
Excellent course that immediately benefited my own workflow. I really enjoyed the way Daniel delivered the information. This course covers a lot of very useful tips and best practices for going from screen to paper.
Daniel gave an in-deep look at what goes into making a beautiful print from your digital files. He goes into detail about color-space, icc-profiles, calibration, different paper stocks, and actually open up the great array of printing possibilities that are available from Lightroom itself. This was an amazing class.
It's important for photographers to know how their photos look printed, but it's a step that I've found so overwhelming and expensive to experiment with that I've shied away from it. Daniel's class was such a helpful introduction to the world of printing photography. He had great explanations about paper and color management. I still have a lot to learn and I'm sure I'll have to come back to review this class again, but now I'm feeling a little less lost and intimidated. I love the test print page he provided with this class and I've already started making use of mine.
