Brilliant class, highly recommended!
Victor Ha shows the basics of filmmaking in a concise straightforward manner, while being passionate about his subject. This is a must see course for new filmmakers!
Hands down, one of the best classes on learning fundamentals I've ever seen. Not only is the content deep in every facet presented, but Victor presents it flawlessly. He has a gifted ability to distill the knowledge of his craft into language that someone seeking out the true, necessary fundamentals of DSLR filmmaking can understand and use throughout their future journey. I would enjoy seeing him update this class to reflect the evolution of tech and gear (this was obviously recorded awhile ago), but these fundamentals are rock solid regardless of technology. Just fantastic!
Nice class but the instructor needs to slow his talking down...lol
I'm not even done with the course yet and I am SO WOWED! Victor hands us the tools we need to confidently get started with making videos with our DLSRs. He explains every clearly and concisely and is a very engaging speaker/instructor! I can't wait to upgrade my pet photography website using this new knowledge, and also to start making Hybrid still/video projects to perhaps incorporate in my business's offerings. I'm excited to up my game as a result of this course!
This is a perfect place for photographers to start learning about how to incorporate video into their work. Victor is a great instructor, fun to learn from, and knowledgable. I came away with so many helpful bits of information that have taken my videography skills to the next level. I'm excited about putting these skills to good use. Highly recommend.
Only a little way in and already so inspired!
1 video in and I'm hooked like a drug user on the streets. Bravo!
Totally awesome! Practical advice that is easy to implement. Learned what I needed to know to get started with using my DSLR to start filming.
Haven't completed yet, but terrific so far. Thank you
Wasn't so sure before I bought the course but no regrets at all now. Victor is full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable with great tips.
Excellent course, comprehensive and great delivery.
This one of the most dense material on video making for beginners that I saw on creativelive and Victor is a wonderful teacher. If you are just starting to transition from photography to motion than this is definitely a class you should watch. I learned a lot from Victor and I would like to see more classes like this in the future
Good Class one of my favorite
Loved everything about this course - brilliant content and engaging delivery.
I'm trained in television and radio, and I have 30 years of professional broadcast hands-on experience. I took this course to fill in gaps and find out what's new. Superb course, well taught, and Victor knows his stuff, believe me.
I have been watching video lessons on creative live for about a year already and I can not tell you how good, complete, simple, insightful and comprehensive this class is and how talented Victor is at teaching. I feel very fortunate I found this class and I could say it is quite possibly the best class I have watched so far in creative live.
Before watching this, I have created several corporate videos and I have to say this has to be one of the best courses available for those wanting to get into filming or like myself, transition from photography to video. Victor has a genuine passion for the craft and explains things in a way that makes sense as well as being informative, I have taken what he has said and used it in all future shoots that I have been booked for. Its also a great way to learn how to get organised with the right equipment and your time, something I was l was lacking!. This is a great class that's perfect for beginners and those who are just transitioning into film and I would highly recommend it.
I'm still in the starting phase of filmmaking so I learned tons of Victor Ha! Can't speak for advanced users but for a beginner this is a great class.
First, let me say the Mr. Victor Ha is very knowledgeable and I have learned more from him about filmmaking than I did in the previous class I took online. But what I have learned thus far is that you do not rely on one source, you go out and seek more knowledge until you are ready to shoot and tell stories via film. I have to say I enjoyed his lessons and admire his spirit in sharing what he knows and he is very talented. However, I have two critiques of the course. First, I wish Mr. Ha would come to the point when he is talking on a particular point in the filmmaking. Sometimes I would get lost in trying to understand what is the idea that he trying to convey. Second, I did not appreciate the two individuals who were fielding questions from the web chat rooms. I feel they were disruptive in the sense that they saw themselves as co-instructors adding to Mr. Ha's lesson plan. I don't know if that was by design or did these people feel they could speak out in such a manner. From previous web courses on CreativeLive, the individuals who were monitoring the chat room were quiet, not disruptive and spoke when the instructor asked for questions. In my opinion, unless they want to teach, then they should be able ad their opinions. As I said, very disruptive and borderline rude to Mr. Ha. Otherwise I have learned much from this course. Thank you very much for the class, looking forward to more in the near future!
Having never considered online tutoring I wasn't sure what to expect as I embark on my venture with Victor Ha. I knew nothing about video and only basic knowledge of photography. After this amazing course I feel I have the resources I need now for life. For anyone starting out in video even without a photography background I can't recommend this course and in particular Victors engaging style enough. Also props to Creative Lives format, the Q&A throughout was invaluable. You won'e be disappointed. The only thing I'd want more of is getting Victor back with even more real situations as was shown towards the close of the course. Very, very informative and extremely well presented.
Love Victor and his teaching skills....he gets to the point! Learned so much and am now applying to my film work. Thank you Victor!
I have been in photography for 23 years. I have taken a countless amount of seminars. I have to say this is my all time favorite so far. Victor is SO informative and likable ! $$$ well spend !
I hate this course and its presenter Victor Ha! Why? Because this course is so good and Victor is such a wonderfully knowledgeable filmmaker/Instructor that I've already spent over a thousand dollars buying equipment that didn't even know existed based on his recommendations.I film 3 to 4 times a year and went to film school by the way . I almost didn't buy this course because of the title figuring that I've been using DSLR's for years and what could he teach me that I don't know. Change the title to "Fundamentals of Filmmaking (Including but not limited to DSLRs). This video is the ONLY one (believe me I subscribe to dozens )that I will refer back again when I have a question about certain techniques. Brilliant!
This is such a great training series that will help photographers to learn about video using their DSLR. Victor has really managed to explain the process of filming without the technical jargon and makes easily understandable by giving us the right tools to learn this new process. This course might need updating on some tools but it will definitely give you the basics and a great knowledge base to get you starting!
