This is the full recording of the two-day Live Concert Masterclass with Peter John: about 8 hours of class content. Day One covers pre-production and production, from the camera plan to the capture settings that hold up in post. Day Two covers post-production in six parts: audio post with Daniel Kelaart in Pro Tools, then syncing and cutting the film with Peter in DaVinci Resolve.
Everything in the class comes from one real sold-out show at the Stay Gold venue in Melbourne, shot on Nikon ZR and RED cameras, so you see how a concert film comes together from the first camera position to the finished rough cut.
What You’ll Learn
- Plan a multi-camera concert shoot built for the edit, not live switching.
- Record more tracks than you think you need, and fix phase problems between microphones.
- Blend drum samples with the live kit, reamp a clean guitar signal, and clean up a live vocal while keeping the crowd in the mix.
- Sync every camera angle to the finished mix in DaVinci Resolve and conform slow-motion frame rates.
- Build the cut by choosing the strongest angle for each moment, then add post-zoom movement to static shots.
What’s Included
- Day One: Pre-Production and Production (about 1 hour 26 minutes)
- Day Two, in six parts: the mix, sample replacement, guitars and vocals, syncing the multicam shoot, cutting the performance, and final touches (about 6 hours 42 minutes)
