Fundamentals of Photography
John Greengo
I have watched John as an assistant for many years, discovering him as an instructor has made the world right again. One of my subjective measures of an instructor here on CL is watching the interaction between the instructor and John as assistant. People like Tony Corbell interact heavily with John and frequently call him out to speak during their class, I love this. Other instructors are less engaging with hm and ultimately I find I dont enjoy that class as much. This class by John himself was incredibly enjoyable not just for his demonstrations but for learning about a wonderful human being and talented photographer. Please please get John in front of the camera more!
I learned so much. John is such a wonderful fellow.
Love his laid back style. This is very good info. Basic to an extent and easy to understand for beginners. Then goes into more detail for studio work.
Full of usefull ideas! Jhon is a very nice and easy going person!
So great to see someone setting up and working in their home studio. Makes me feel good about staying at home with mine. Thanks John for opening up your life up to us. Much appreciated! Holly
One point I don't know was covered. At home with a rug, I use 4 sheets of 4x8 plywood. Particle board is best as it won't warp. I place 2 4x8 sheets so I get an 8x8 platform. The next two sheets I play the other direction so the "seams" cross each other. It gives me a solid base on top of the rug. Zero problems except for where to store the 4x8 plywood? In the garage.
I love this class, but I believe it's time for an updated version. We love John and his easy, no-frills approach makes learning fun.
John is a walking encyclopedia of information on cameras , lenses and lighting. His mild manner makes him easy to understand. This home studio class that John has done has inspired me to set up a studio in my home. John teaches if there is a will there is a way and he shows you how. This a great class for anyone wanting to set up a home studio even in the smallest of spaces! Thank you John you are a true creative!!
An easygoing, understated manner belies a vast knowledge and a true mastery of the subject. John delivers the subject in a clear considered manner; drawing on his experience and obvious in-depth grasp of the technicalities and artistic considerations. The topics are presented in an unrushed, carefully considered format and structured in a coherent matrix of theory and practical experience interjected with observations to allow the student to understand the concepts and why specific suggestions are being made. I just hope there will be more courses taught by John
John... you are an amazing instructor! Thanks for doing what you do :) Keep up the great work.. and having fun :)
CL is killing me! I end up buying every course! This was excellent John! Thank you so much for doing it!
Another great CL course. John's casual, friendly, and down to earth style puts him on par with another easy to watch instructor, Zach Arias. John should definitely be considered for delivering future courses.
