I found this an extremely useful course for someone wanting to make the move from photography to videography. Jessica is an intuitive and inspiring teacher. I was blown away by her personal video work and her work ethic as a photojournalist. She covered most of the topics a beginner in videography would need to get to grips with, like gear, audio, camerawork/camera stabilization and sources of funding. I've actually found myself coming back to this course again and again for consolidating aspects of it and integrating them in my own practice. Thumbs up Jessica and Creative Live!!

She covered the material in the right level of detail for someone moving over from still photography. She explains things well.

Thanks Jessica, You sparked something in me with this class that had been simmering for a while. I watched your class. Enrolled in a local documentary workshop, made my first and second short docs and then decided to go back to school for a degree in journalism. I have 2 projects in the baby stages and many living in the notebook. I owe you for this. You were stood up there and made this life feel tangible and attainable. You did not talk down to us invisible viewers hunched over our computers slurping ramen and dreaming of a different life. You shared practical, critical pieces of information that I applied immediately. Creative Live please bring more women in journalism to your platform. Their presence changes our lives. Thank you.

Jessica thank you so much for sharing "Wait for Me" and talking about accepting and even embracing the messiness and spontaneity of documentary video. It's bringing me back to my photojournalism roots. Love hearing your journey and process.

Simultaneously broad and deep, the information Jessica covers and the way she delivers it really give you the feeling you can jump into video right away. Professionalism in every area, from prep steps to workflow in the field to clean organization and processing, inspires confidence in the value of her methods. She clearly learned most of this in the field over years of work, which means the rest of us now have a huge leg up on our first projects. Thank you so much!

This class has left me feeling very encouraged and inspired about getting into videography. Jessica has made some great work, in her short career with video, and was able to share what she learned through those experiences. She started out as a photographer and has now incorporated video into her skill set and it seems to have expanded the diversity her opportunities and has enriched what she produces and shares with the world. I look forward to doing the same thing in my own way. Thanks CL for another wonderful class.

I absolutely loved Jessica Dimmock's course and can't wait to start applying everything I learned to my film ideas. I'm a still photographer and only recently started using my DSLR for video. I finally feel ready to marry it all together, this was an awesome class!

Jessica is a super talented photographer and videographer who entered into videography via the world pf photography. Filled with a ton of great information, details, and specifics, but (maybe) more importantly... a sense of inspiration and encouragement that *we* can master videography as well. As Jessica says... Videography isn't something 'other people' get to do... it's something WE get to do. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks to this class, I now feel more confident having a starting point with video, instead of feeling so overwhelmed. It turns out, all you have to do is ...push the record button! I learned so much about transitions and the importance of sound; I am ready to go out and practice some new ideas this weekend. Thanks, Jessica!

She is knowledgeable, professional and an excellent teacher.

I have been waiting for a course like this. Purchasing it was a no-brainer. Taught by an accomplished professional in the field, with a strong track record of high level work, Jessica Dimmock, I feel, is exactly the type of instructor Creative Live should be giving air time to. I have watched other Videography classes on Creative Live, and this was the first one that I felt was worth purchasing due to how much info was being shared, in a very methodical, easy to follow (but not dumb downed) fashion.

Jessica really knows her stuff. She comes from the stills world and uses that knowledge to make great looking films. Her "Story Structure Exercise", transitions, the 30 second rule, be a little loose, don't change exposure in the middle of a sequence...all great nuggets just from the 1st day.

Great! I'm so glad this class exists and Jessica is the perfect person to teach it.
