Fundamentals of Photography
John Greengo
Hi Mathew, Quanisha Moody, Makeup Artist here. I love how you acknowledge the makeup artist and her contribution to the photoshoot. Most photographers make themselves the star of the show and not anyone else. So thank you and I also love how you debunked the... what I call "myth" that a photographer has to change their setup for each look. I am learning beauty photography because I choose to shoot my own portfolio work and it's very easy to get it twisted when you see "other" photographers doing different setups. Thank you Mathew🙏🏽
This video is from 2011? It’s 10 years old? Really?
Thank you Matthew Jordan Smith for such an experience and educational journey that words alone cannot describe. There was never a dull moment. Your advice and words of wisdom extend far beyond photography. This is one class I will cherish forever. I can't thank you and your team enough. May God bless all of who made it possible for the world to see.
I agree too slow too many questions waiting for content.
Absolutely loving having the access pass, worth every penny!! searching for something else and imagine my excitement at finding grand master Jordan Smith along the way. Love his way of working.
Great course. I loved watching Matthew work. Its great that CreativeLive gets all of these Master Photographers. There's some parts when watching Matthew work that if you were described what to do, it wouldn't be the same as watching him get the emotions and posing out of the models.
I love Matthew's style of photography and teaching. I've had the opportunity to meet Matthew twice and attending one of his workshops, this course is true to how he feels and approaches photography. You cannot miss with this course if beauty and fashion is your pursuit. Thank you CL for bringing him to this platform.
Excellent Course!!! One of the best courses on creative live. Matthew Jordan Smith is a mastermind and excellent teacher. I learned to be creative and I learned a lot about the business of photography.
Over the decades, I’ve watched at least 300 photo tutorials from CL (including all three of Matthew’s), RGG EDU, Phlearn, SLR lounge, VHS tapes and DVDs, youtube, etc. Without a doubt, this is THE BEST. It provides the most inside information about the business if fashion and beauty, as well as how to connect with and direct a model and a creative team and make your VISION come to life. Regarding the thumbs-down below, Matthew was talking about why he uses an incident meter vs. a camera’s built-in reflective meter. While it may have not been 100% clear to everyone, what he said was 100% correct.
This is great if you want to learn about fashion photography. He explain very well from the fundamental to the shooting day, It's amazing I learned a lot!!!
I own 40+ Creative Live courses and THIS COURSE IS BY FAR THE VERY BEST TO DATE. To truly convince you about the quality of this man's work simply check out his website, www.matthewjordansmith.com. And then aspire to also gain such a standing in the world of photography as Matthew Jordan Smith. Maybe he should revisit Creative Live to teach about how he achieved such successes i.e. marketing, branding, networking, prices, contracts etc. Now that would be worth buying!
Great class! Good clear concise advise!
This class is very informative
If you're considering getting this class, hesitate no longer. MJ is the most conscientious, motivating, positive, questions and answers, demonstrative, from the ground up, unique and correct perspective teacher you will watch and the class collection is worth every penny. This class can change your life. Don't just watch take notes esp. Day 1 and 2. Goodbye.
I have several CL courses, and although I have enjoyed and learned a lot from the others, Matthew has been in a class all by himself as far as an instructor. Very, very informative. His enthusiasm and knowledge is amazing.
So glad I purchased this and other Smith's courses. What at an awesome course. I really learned a lot from him.
Wanting to learn about fashion photography? You have come to the right place! I searched the internet for decent fashion tutorials and I came across this workshop. My search ended right there and I have been a fan ever since!!
I did not seen the entire course, and yet looks impressive Mr. Smith seems to be so humble, considering his status as one of the grate pros now days. Thanks to Creative Live you guys for bringing such amazing instructors Don't you dare to stop!!!!
Loved it. I've enjoyed a number of your workshops, but this was special. Matthew brings a great mood, it is inspiring. He's an extraordinary guy and it shows in his work. This must be one of your best workshops so far. It makes me think that a workshop involving him and Tamara Lackey together would be a blast and I wouldn't miss for the world.
I really enjoyed this course. I had a photoshoot this weekend and I was able to use a whole lot of Michael's advice. And he is so easy to ostensibly too, I could watch it again and again. Great work by Michael, his T.E.A.M. and the creativeLIVE folks.
Just wanted to express how much I enjoyed the workshop. I really appreciated Matthew's almost zen like vibe on set, and how things flowed. It was really smooth. Lots of fun, lots to learn. Great use of one light versus five lights, truly displaying that you can do a lot with a little or have fun with more :). Thanks Matthew!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Matthew Jordan Smith and the Creative Live team for this course. The inspiration I have come away with from Matthew's teaching and passion is invaluable. If you are not moved and inspired by the end of this course then you need to look for another career or hobby. Best course/workshop I have ever come across... worth the money! Thanks again Matthew!
Fabulous teacher, very passionate, this was my 1st creative live experience and hope all are as good as this, its sometimes not about the mass of knowledge but the little snippets of info that makes it worth while, over here in UK we dont use apple crates, well we do now, and if i cant find a retailer then i will start to import them. Over there in the US you seem so much more open with the information you have and are willing to share it, great job from someone who has been in the business 20 years
I have to say, Matthew Jordan Smith's creativeLIVE course is the best one I have seen to date. As a matter of fact, it's the best program I have seen all year. Matthew has a beautiful countenance, and the way he makes each person feel included, and with his guidance and mentoring, he breaks down the walls of intimidation. His passion for the craft comes through which is more inspiring than watching another instructor up there just for the money or notoriety. Excellent, excellent program.
Matthew's talent is only outweighed by his obvious love for photography. I have watched most of the CL presentations and I've never witnessed such a combination of passion, enthusiasm packaged within the gift of knowledge. Bravo, Matthew. We all are in awe.
