Q&A

Hey everyone, I'm basing, I'm excited to answer a few of the questions you've asked throughout this session and we received quite a few of them remember if you don't get to your questions, we'll go back and answer them on the growth google on their page below the virtual event shortly after it concludes. All right. So let's get to, the first question here is from Clinton and Clint wants to know why is my bounce rate so high. Um, so that's a tough question, Clint really, because it can just vary from site to site. You know, different things can impact your heart rate, bounce rate. Um, but it's really important for us to understand what a bounces and a balanced base to indicate a visitor that triggered only a single request to the server before simply leaving the site, pretty much they, once you're up the page, they didn't do anything and then he left. And when we say didn't do anything, it's important to saying that they didn't click on anything to go anywhere or interact with any other...

elements. It's very possible that person got exactly what they were looking for. Like a perfect example of that is like if you ever go to a restaurant page, right and go to page and you're looking for the menu and the menu is right there and you can scroll, look at the menu, find everything looking for and then leave. It doesn't necessarily mean that you didn't get what you're looking for. But you know, that's an important thing, they're saying, like, so people see bouncing really panic. Um, also for those of you out there who have single page websites, uh, there's nowhere to go in your interaction after that. It's important for saying that your bounce rate will be very high simply due to the fact that you only have one page and there's nowhere for people to go. Uh, so there's lots of different things that can impact bounce rate. We really advise that you look at a lot of the different elements, don't simply just look at that number. Don't look at the bounce bounce rate percentage and assume that your site is doing bad for all, you know, people can be giving exactly what they're looking for right from the start. Um, but if you do have a site that relies on high traffic and people navigating to the page, two different pages, then you want to kind of review maybe where your traffic is coming from. Uh, you know, the different audience members and other elements as well to see if you are actually truly trying to move people through your site throughout that entire customer experience? All right, next question here is from Michelle Michelle wants to know in regards to analytics and keywords, Is there a data set of words that we can be sure will work? No, I wish there was a day, like if you just do this, everything will be great and I understand like if that was the case and everyone would have the same exact website or whatever it would be and that's just not how things work. So when we talk about that uh there's really no industry specific data set of keywords really it's going to be about um just really understanding your audience in the particular audience that you really work with and some things you can do, you can actually use google trends like an immensely before to find what people are actually searching for. Right find out the different terms are searching for how they're searching the different forms of the same exact phrase that people are using. And then you can leverage those some other things you can do is you can also look at your own data, check out your google analytics. Look at any analytics from your your ads. Um you know even your business profile, if you have that, it's important to pay attention to all of these different data sets to choose the right keywords and phrases that are driving traffic to your website and make the right decisions for your site and your business. Not just a general blanket. All right, next question here is from polio Polly wants to know what kind of historical data can I get from google analytics. Um so that's a tricky question. So like in a sense of historical uh your data is only this is a big thing. I was trying to tell a lot of people out of my clients. Is that when it comes to analytics it only starts collecting data from the moment you set up the account, not just set up your analyst account, anyone can just sign into analytics. But you also put that tracking code into place once that tracking code has actually been installed. And working from that moment forward data is being collected. Uh you can't go back um and track data prior to analysts being available. All right, next question here is from jerry, jerry wants to know how do I know which reports to use in google analytics? Uh so that's gonna really kind of depends on really what your goals are for your website. So like for instance a blogger might be tracking things like scroll depth. How far someone is actually scrolling down the page one of their articles or the articles with the most page views while someone with like a chain of brick and mortar stores will be more interested in geographic locations of the website visitors. So like these are different things depending on the type of business you're you're looking for. So really just ask you stuff what is the actual purpose of our website? Why did I make this website? What are the things I'm looking to get out of it from your business standpoint and then that will steer you to the right reports that will show you the information you're looking for. All right, next question here is from Samantha Samantha wants to know how do I know my analytics are working. That's a really great question quite simply, once you go through all the, you know the getting the code embedding the code or using your CMS to activate that code, go back to analytics. So go back to google analytics. You sign in uh and then you look at that active users right now. Right on the homepage, right? When you first sign in analytics, if that's showing a big fat zero um that don't be you know alarmed. What you can do is in a separate browser window just simply go to your website that zero should turn to a one that one will represent you on your website. Uh the active user. If that zero does not turn to one, then your analysts are not currently working and you can do some troubleshooting from there. All right. Next question is from cat. How do I use the test? My site report. That's a great question. Right. So like when you initially run test my site and you get either a red or yellow rating, this will basically tell you that your website could be running faster. Right? Uh and it also might be affecting your position and search uh search results. Right? So the report, when you request that the report, uh it will give you some insights into the areas of your site that are increasing that low time. Uh and some of these things can be technical. Right? So if you're not a technical person, you don't do a lot of website design and development, you may need to take that email and forward it over to your web developer that will actually will need to make those adjustments for you. But some things are very simple, like just using smaller images, images that don't take a basement space or video streaming. Lots of different things are very simple and understandable. But some things maybe just very technical and you can just pass off to your web developer. All right, so the last question here is from lisa lisa. Her question is I don't really understand what optimized us. It's a statement. Not a question, but that's okay. Um, so when we talk about optimized to kind of put it simply as a website owner, some elements work well, some elements don't and this is happening all the time. Optimizing the sense of basically testing to see what works better. Is click here better than click now, right? Or you know, download versus whatever it is like, you know, maybe the color of this button is less appealing than that color or this font is more appealing than that. Uh, we don't know unless we try this out and then so the beauty of Optimizes is that you can literally say here, I want you to try out all the different versions of this button, maybe a complete page, you can change different elements on your page on your site. Uh, in order to test out which ones are actually driving the most, the best response in the sense of if I'm trying to get someone to click on this button, is the color blue in this working better than the color red in this spot. Uh And then what happens is optimized will take that version a different version of your site and present it to your site users uh and then really see which one actually presents are the best um click through rate in that sense. That's just one example. Right. And so when you talk about it, you're simply presenting different versions, whether it's a simple, you know, change of the entire site color scheme or a little different elements to help drive the best, quickly rate the best conversion, whatever it may be. Uh And the thing to note though, when you talk about optimized is that you need to traffic, right? So it has to be have to do the testing, we need to see what is actually working. Uh So you need to have a lot of traffic in order to run the tests and present the different variations and of course the more variations and more changes you make, the more testing is needed. Uh So it may not be for everyone if you don't get a lot of site traffic but it's super effective tool and really understanding what is driving the actual, the best, in fact you're looking for in the sense of changes your site or different versions of different elements of your site. So definitely check it out. But it may not be for everyone if you don't get enough traffic. All right. So this wraps up our Q and A. For today. Thank you all for joining us for elevate your website with google tools. Hopefully everyone learned something new. We will see you next time.
