Wrap Up and Review

we talked about vulnerability. Talked a lot about it. I think it's kind of an underlying theme. It makes you authentic. It will help you connect with your clients. Okay. With yourself and with your art and with your brand. Okay. It'll help make everything in your business that much better. So it also helped you connect with your purpose. Why you do what you do. I talked a lot about that in the in the newborn class and in the pricing and sales class. People don't buy what you do, folks. They buy why you do it. People don't buy what you do. They buy why you do it. Okay, let's look at the Golden Circle. This is by Simon Sinek, his genius. He's on Ted talks. For those of you interested, almost all businesses know what they do most know how they do it. Very few know why. So here's how most companies go. We make fabulous computers what we do that with simple technology, innovative design and the best creative minds in the world. What about one really amazing companies? I say this in their ma...

rketing branding. We believe in advancing human thought. We believe that technology can change the human condition for the better and improve the lives of generations behind us. We do that with innovative technology, simple design and the best creative minds in the world. We happen to make computers you one by one, see the difference. So you must have your purpose. You must know why you do what you dio for me. It's I believe, the day you become apparent. Your life changes for a whole new service and purpose in the world that the real reason you're on this planet is to grow and nurture those who come behind you. That love makes you authentic and that cherishing that will help your Children develop some of the best self esteem they could possibly have. I do that with a creative mindset, a storytelling ideal and a passion like none other. And I happen to take portrait. So you want to come take one? That's how I feel. And that's how I try to express my brand and my wife for doing what I do. And it's the same thing with teaching. You know, I'm so passionate about education and believe it will lift the industry up and that sharing is caring. It will make people better. I do that with some training in public. Speaking a pretty good education. I happened to teach. You want to come learn? Do you don't mean that That's my whole M O. And that's what's going to draw the world into you as a business owner. What you do in your life or as a business is simply proves what you believe and how you do it shows why are you are unique. Okay, so I encourage you to take the last three days, wrap it up into ah, purpose into why you do what you do. And it's not gonna happen overnight, folks. It doesn't happen overnight. It takes a walk. But she wanted stew on it. Let yourself marinate in it and think about it over the course of the next month or so. Why do you do what you do? Why do you your authentic self do this thing called portraiture? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? And why should anyone else in the world care that you get out of that? Do you think about that? Why should I care? Michelle, if you get out of bed in the morning. I'm not gonna cancer. Don't worry. You know what I mean? Okay, this is me and my son. Thats was taken by the photograph was taken by my sister on the beach in California. Then I painted it. Just made the loan collection of P. P. I was excited about that. So what can you do right now? Steps to implement right away. Explore your Why? Just explore it. You're not gonna answer it, but explore it. Okay? Brainstorm parent concepts. That means something to you. Start. Mind mapping them. Okay. Ask yourself. What characters? What? What? What? Clothing and style. What props? What colors? What setting? What seeing what story? Breakdown the story with a mind map to help you create an image in your head. Just do one concept at the time. I get a couple concepts going, and that'll get your brain brain happening. Start gathering the symbols as you go about your daily life. You know, we all of us girls went out to dinner last night. We had some pretty intense discussions about our concepts of parenting and images that we have. They're just starting to calm in our head. That We want to create very powerful images that mean incredibly personal things to these women sitting in this audience right here. And I really encourage you to write those down. And as you walk through your life daily, think about things that, like, if something grabs you like a font. Okay, what does that mean to me? What's that? Symbolize to me and start writing those symbols down. Go home and get yourself a notebook and carry it with you wherever you go. Okay. That's a simple thing you can do and turn into a habit right away. Of course. Practise basic parent posing in your every day Work opposes that. We worked on the first day. It's really important to keep doing that. The other things that you can do right away include learn color theory and start applying it. Okay, Learn composition and start applying it. I learned all this from the art world. Study art, Go to museums. Look at different sources. Don't just look at photographers. Look at different sources of art For your inspiration. Ask what you can steal from them. To put into your own work. Focus on technique. You gotta know how to do the things right. Don't just wing it and don't just, you know, I mean, yeah, I do believe in faking it till you make it. But to a point, Don't figure badly affords Get your technique down. Learn your photoshopped, Learn your camera, learn lighting, Get all those things proficient. So you're truly a professional. Grow that technique over time Be opened, of course, to being vulnerable to yourself, to your clients and see George for who he really is. A pain in the booty. Okay. All right. I think what it really comes down to is just believe that you could do this, People, You could do this. You really can. I am so boring and normal. It's not even funny. If I can do this, you can to really? You guys, you know that now, especially you guys here in this, you know how boring and like weird and normal I am. If you really knew me, you think Oh, my God, That woman is totally crazy. I am. I'm a little bit of a nut job. And if I can do this, you can too. It's true. Okay. Last but not least, the eight secrets to success. This is from Richard saying, John, I loved it. Passion. You must have passion to be successful. Hard work. Just keep plugging away at it. You gotta work harder. Things be good. Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. Get better constantly and what you do technically wise. Focus. When things distract you get yourself back on track. It's okay to be distracted for a little while, but don't want to get the best of you. Push yourself. You're the only one who can do this. And I know we have significant others in our lives who push us, but they aren't as reliable as we can be to ourselves. Push yourself constantly. Serve others. Help those in your industry make friends with Tarver's in your town. They can help you. You can help them. When you give, it will come back to you. Kindness comes back to, I promise. I've seen it every day. Ideas. You must have ideas to be successful. You all have ideas. I know you do. I've heard it. We talked about it last night. I know you do online as well. You guys have ideas just as much as I do. There's coming out like crazy. And they have the last three days. I know it. Right? Those ideas down there not silly. They're not silly. They're great ideas. And you could Who cares? It just writing down. Nobody else has to see him. Just you just write him down. Get him out there. Get him out of your head so they don't get lost. Put him in a safe place in that little notebook I told you to buy. OK, okay. The last secret to success is persistence, Perseverance The one who last the longest winds. I can't tell you that has been true so many times in my life. Even just getting here on creative life. I have wanted to teach on creative life for it since it started. And it took knowing the right people getting in, communicating relationships Persevere, persevere, persevere. And finally, a woman I love so dearly here creativelive early and called me and said, Hey, we're thinking about bringing you want Holy go! Wow! Yeah, that phone call of my life. Okay, persevere. Keep pushing, Keep pushing, But do it honestly. And with help by serving others. Okay. And then you know what? Cut through all the crap really criticism, rejection a holes in pressure. Just cut through it all. You can do it. Okay, let's finally totally wrap up with talking about our kids, whether you have Children or not. This is the parenting manifesto by burn a brown what you probably don't want to miss and what means the most to being throughout this entire course, she says. Above all else, this is to her Children to every other child out there. I want you to know that you are loved and lovable. You will learn this from my words and my actions. The lessons on love are in how I treat you and how I treat myself. I want you to engage with the world from a place of worthiness. We'll get through this. You will learn that you are worthy of love. Belonging, Enjoy. Every time you see me practice self compassion and embrace my own imperfections, we will practise courage in our family by showing up letting ourselves be seen an honoring vulnerability. We will share our stories of struggle and strength. There will always be room for both in our home. We will teach you compassion by practising compassion with ourselves first then with each other, we will set and respect boundaries. We will honor hard work, hope and perseverance. Rest and play will be family values as well as family practices. You will learn accountability and respect by watching me make mistakes and make amends. And by watching how I ask for what I need and talk about how I feel. I want you to know joy. So together we will practice gratitude. I want to feel joy. So together we will learn how to be vulnerable. When uncertainty and scarcity visit, you will be able to draw from the spirit that is a part of our everyday life. Together we will cry and face fear and grief. I will want to take away your pain. But instead I will sit with you and teach you how to feel it. We will laugh and sing and dance and create. We will always have permission to be ourselves with each other, no matter what. You will always belong here as you begin your wholehearted journey. The greatest gift that I can give you is toe live and love my whole heart and to dare greatly, I will not teach or love or show you anything perfectly, but I will let you see me, and I will always hold sacred the gift of seeing you truly, deeply seeing you. That's what we should be saying to our Children. That's how we should be living our own lives and doing Children learn by what they see. You do not by what you say and to me, that just wrong. A court now being a mom myself. That's just when I read that I was in tears Left and Ram Sorry, I can't read it without kind of getting little machine. But as a mom, that's really special to me. And I think it really rings core true to the core of what we all believe is Children, photographers as family photographers. That family is everything. And we as artists and his parents have to show our Children what's right and that it's okay to be in perfect because we're all messed up. Anyway, Thanks. Questions done. Oh, a big round of applause, Theo. First we wanted to say a few words of thanks. It always takes so many, many people to put these events on. So first wanted to let you talk. This is the second course with Julia I have seen. And it's amazing and very inspiring in so many ways! I appreciate so much the honesty of Julia, her spirit for doing things she loves. Like a photographer and artist myself, I feel identified with her perception of world and the passion for artistic and family photography. This course is about never give up, it's about hard work, and also it's about cultivating creativity and honesty. I highly recommended this course to every photographer who want to grow and understand himself and the business of professional high-quality photography. Thanks, Julia and Creative Live, for this one!

So glad I bought this class - well and truly worth the investment. This course has helped me realise why it is so important to make an emotional connection and how to use it to my advantage {while giving my clients the very best too}. I cannot wait to try some new printing/mounting techniques...so glad Julia was kind enough to share this! I got a lot out of this course and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take their newborn photography business to the next level.
