Using Social Media and networking to expand business
There are many uses for social media as a wedding photographer. Obviously, the main one is to showcase all your photos and what you're capable of doing. We just talked about another way of showing testimonials. You can create behind the scenes, reels and videos and at the end of the day, at the very least, it's all free. You can build a network and build a showcase of yourself off of social media. We do live in a time where it is important. I think as you're starting out as a wedding photographer, you are going to need to build a small social media presence. Now it doesn't have to take off. It doesn't have to be the end all be all of you as a wedding photographer. But it is a very quick way to find out who you are. It's a very quick way for people to check you out. It's a very nice window and portal into your website and everything else that you do. So you do need to take it seriously and it doesn't mean you have to use your personal social media. You can build your own business page o...
n Facebook. You can have a new handle on Instagram. So you can separate it from who you are personally if you'd like. But it is something you take seriously and it is something that will help you as a wedding photographer get business and also connect with people. Not only can you show your portfolio on there, but you can use it to interact with people. You can use it to interact with other photographers. You can get maybe a second shooting job with a local photographer. You can get inspiration from looking at other people's work. It is important and it is relevant and I wanna make sure that you're not ignoring the social media because it can help you more than it can hurt you. The only caveat with social media is that you do need to stay consistent with it. Posting once every couple of months is not gonna do any good. You need to post at least once a week, twice a week. If you can, you need to stay up with it. And in fact, I would create a plan to do that during the week as your normally scheduled admin projects, right? When you're going in responding to emails, when you're going and responding to clients building your website, try to remember to schedule out when you're gonna post things because the whole algorithm and idea with social media is that you are consistent and you are there, you are present and you are in the community doing things.
