Applying Face-Aware Liquify to Multiple Faces in an Image

We have got a family here of multiple faces, right? And so you know, this client comes in, you do a family portrait session for them, and they say, Oh, man, this shot, I mean especially, What do they say? Never work with kids or dogs. You know, like babies, kids or dogs. Because they're just so hard to photograph sometimes. All right, so oh, man, this shot is almost perfect. There's just a couple of things that we want to change, right? There's, you know, that we'd like to open the eyes of the husband just a little bit. And then the baby just needs to look like they're just a little bit more engaged, right? Or a little bit happier, because this baby looks like is like scared dio there bore life. Okay, so Commander controlled J duplicate the duplicate. The background layer liquefy. Now, before these would have been fixes, that would have taken you quite a bit of time. I'm thinking minutes. But if we come in here, go take our liquefy filter liquefy, we get into our face aware dialogue b...

ox, and then immediately you can see we've got 1234 faces that have registered. All right. And so again, if you're one of my slider people face one face to face three and face for, so you can select which ever face, you want to, um, modify just very easily right there from this. So let's see. So the first thing we want to do is maybe get like, make this smile just a little, make the baby smile a little bit more. So let's go to face number two. Because it it will read, left to right, left to right for faces and then leads. You've got our mouth section over here and let's think a little bit happier, right? Okay, You guys see that? See her little baby? Here. Happy Bay shed, baby. Okay, So Okay, so number one request from the mom, you know, is done. We just wanted a little bit more. Smile. And then whenever lips do smile, they tend to stretch out a little bit, and I'll go into it my little biology lesson a little bit later. So we do want to make the lips just a little bit thinner as well, because it's not on Lee the smart. You don't. We don't smile like this, right? This is not gonna work. So we wanted more the entire lips to make this smile look a little bit more realistic. Okay, that's a little bit too much smile, isn't it? Okay, so let's see. What is my keyboard shortcut for previewing the before and after P. Okay, so he just looks a little bit better. A little bit happier, right? I told you this is gonna be funny. Okay, so let's move on. So the next thing that we need to dio is just open the husband's eyes just slightly. All right? We've got our husband here, so we're gonna go to face number three. So we'll choose face number three here, and we want to open both the eyes together. So it makes sense for us to go ahead and lock the two eyes together, and then just make them both just slightly larger, and then maybe take this I on its own and just increase the size of that. I just slightly Okay. So if we go ahead and hit R P for preview, we've been able to do those two tweaks and make the mom happy in a very short period of time. Okay? I love watching that baby little baby smile. I wish it was that. I wish it was that easy on real babies, right? And then we'd all be in great. Um, great spirits. Okay, so, yes. So this saves time because we're able to not leave the liquefy dialogue box and were able to access different faces and make tweaks to different faces all at the same time. So that's really going to be time saving. If I was doing this and I wasn't teaching it, this would be Instead of a 20 minute fix, this would end up being a 92nd fix. Yeah, you guys agree?

Kristina breaks down the use of the Face-Aware Liquify Tool in a way that makes it fun as well as practical. She included helpful hints on what to do if PS doesn't recognize the face, and provided numerous useful examples of simple changes to make faces more appealing. Making faces slimmer, minimizing double chins, opening squinty eyes, turning a frown into a smile - these are all "fixes" that clients ask for, and Kristina makes them look easy. I can't wait to load a few images and practice my new skills on my own!
