Class Introduction

(birds chirping) I'm Ryan Resatka. I'm an adventure travel photographer. I'm originally form Boston, Massachusets, and currently live in Southern California. I love Southern California just because it's such a good proximity from Yosemite, Big Sur, Zion National Park that really inspired me to get into this in the first place. Adventure travel photography is a type of photography where you're on the go. You're still planning out how to get things done, photography-wise, but you're not bogged down by tons of gear, and you wanna have as much creative flexibility as possible. I shoot a number of different photography styles in this one photography niche, including lifestyle, nature, landscape, and find a way to bring it all together in a cohesive fashion. When I traveled from Boston, Massachusetts to Southern California I had really never been to too many places in the outdoors in general. So when I was going to some national parks like Arches or Zion or Yosemite for the first time it r...

eally blew me away, and it made me wanna see more that it had to offer. So I started traveling more and seeing more of these beautiful places, and I felt like they weren't getting the proper image quality they deserved. I was using a cell phone to start, and eventually I moved my way up into getting as DSLR and becoming way more passionate about it. Since then it's pushed me to the boundary of being able to go across the world to find really amazing places and secluded locations to get those incredible photos that inspire you to do the same and wanna visit them, too. And for me, that's exactly what travel adventure photography is about. So now, with that said, I'm gonna show you what I know about adventure travel photography and what it has to offer. In this course we're gonna go through all of the basics that you need to be a successful travel adventure photographer. This includes planning out your trip, where you wanna go, the research that's involved, planning out the type of gear that you're gonna need to get to the locations that you wanna get to, properly scouting and seeing exactly where you wanna be at the right time, with the proper planning, framing, adding a human element, and doing everything you can to make your photos as alive and immersive as possible with the tools at your disposal.

This is actually a question....regarding "park guidelines". Will you cover what permits are needed, costs; and most of all "insurance". I'd like to take my photography "pro", but these "hoops" appear to be confusing and expensive. Is there any way around them? Or to get the cost down to reasonable? I live in Nevada near Death Valley and travel to California often.
