The Walk Off

if you find that that you're having a little bit of trouble getting your subjects to loosen up make him what do a walk off get him to do a walk off a problem to sue if you make him do a walk off it'll work let me demonstrate that to you okay come your test okay test I want you to start right there for me okay back up there you go way have to get you out of your shell right there okay no tests you're gonna walk towards me but first of all stop right there for just a second what you just to stand flat footed on the floor now notice how the energy from her ex close from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet right there okay now just been one knee for me beautiful look at how much more thin that made her look now take your legs and just cross them see how nice that looks for her you could even point your toast see how your toe point you tell right there love it very very nice so already she's facing the camera but we were able to give her a more slender silhouette okay now what I w...

ant you to do is we're gonna walk it out so I want you to walk towards me this first of all hang on before you get crazy girl I can tell you're just ready to roll yeah she's like oh yeah this is my moment I'm gonna be a famous actress itself then just walk straight with your feet side by side okay ready one two three and just just just okay now go back and do it again this time I'm gonna have you walk it off and let's have a little attitude and I want you to bring your leg across one in front the other like they do in a runway okay okay ready one two three go done oh yeah that was the worst job I ever get back and do it again okay again they never do it right the first time but it's about this this is seen now she's got a real smile on her face you see when you want when they walk it out and they start laughing that moment after they stop laughing bam that's the magic moment okay so now all right you two let's do it okay let's go in and own all right one two three oh love oh yes love a dog uh huh and here's the other thing too by the way watch this um okay I need to have like let me have a four of you right here come of stand next to her pay attention what happens in their faces back up a little bit okay very randomly okay now what I want you guys to do on account threes I want you to bust out laughing for no reason whatsoever okay okay first time I want you to do it without actually saying without really like having any voice okay one two three go okay okay now I need you to I want you to pay attention to that and now I want you to do it again but this time I want to hear it like back to that wall right there okay ready everybody yeah I'm like oh okay testify still be laughing what's going on here okay yeah you're standing with the people behind you were laughing like crazy okay ready okay sana katherine I mean I want to feel it from here okay ready guys one two three go okay now but did you notice bam now is the moment did you see how that happened thank you kids very much so if I have somebody who's getting a little bit you know they're getting a bit static or I'm kind of like I'm losing my mojo joe I'm kind of losing my energy I won't I'll make them do a walk office okay we don't stop right now you're going to walk off for me right now we're gonna do a walk off and I'll do it for him first I'll get out there and I just start doing my little walk off okay ready okay and I'll just go to my little walk off and they bust out laughing because I'm doing it too but you know it's all good you know so what we make ourselves look foolish I mean oh my god it won't be the last time I've ever made a fool of myself I mean I just stand in line behind me because I own the market on being foolish okay so any other questions before we move on okay great yeah it was absolutely fantastic good way uh just quick technical question what shutter speed do you like to use during the walk off oh great question okay shutter speed I wanted to be fast enough to capture the action so maybe you know one twenty five sixteenth of a second depending sometimes I okay here's a cool thing sometimes you could do a walk off and I want you to play with this it's not an exact science but it works good I like I like doing this okay put your flash on your camera use your speed light on your camera put your camera on the b for bulb mod b for bob because what happens is as long as you keep your finger on trigger your shutter will stay open and I want you to have to be to do a walk up but don't let him look atyou like if you didn't walk off in bald mode you need them to be walking towards you with her face like this because what's gonna happen is it's going to give you this really cool blurry picture but if you're using a speed light it kind of stops the action of it so it's a real fun technique I use it a lot on the dance floor when people are dancing I'll put my camera on the b for bold mode and then I will use the videographers light and I'll just go see I go one mississippi two mississippi click like this and what it does is it kind of stops the action but you get this beautiful soupy kind of warm fuzzy experience it's really really fun to do so play with them and try that any other questions for a move on yes you make being technically correct cool oh thank you I appreciate it well I don't think anyone's ever called me technically correct that's that's kind of like being politically correct I don't know that I'm either but happy when when when they ask you you know the answer but you're giving us the fluid that you're teaching us to be fluid but you you've already got your technical stuff down yeah and that's thank you very much lee by that's a very high compliment I very much appreciate that because I don't consider I'm not a techie I'm not one of those a said you know I mean I told you it was a bottom of the top of the bottom of my class I mean if you saw any of my teachers from high school they'd go oh you are so joking that woman was never going to be anybody I literally was going to be some drug addict down on fifth avenue you know doing something crazy but I didn't and um but and I'm very grateful for the fact that my mother would have killed me otherwise so if I'm trying to be crazy but but the point is is that that's I guess my way of teaching is that I want to take the fear out of it because we really actually bulls down to is we get afraid believe me I have been so afraid in my beginning but when my boss told me my first boston he said you know shoot everything at f ate at a sixteenth of a second the first time I went down and pushed the envelope and shot it a fifteenth of a second I was like oh my god the earth is going what swallow me up something horrible's gonna happen and my cameras going explode or something like that and I can tell you made me feel so powerful afterwards and I'm like oh baby you are so bad you shot a fifteenth of a second yeah you go on and you're going to do do it and they were like okay get over yourself tickets all right but that first time that you pushed the envelope is really empowering to you and I mean we all have crazy things in our lives that you know that we end up you know going postal over or whatever but too many times I found that we as photographers and I'm one of them that would get so hung up on you doing it on ly one way and this is the way I know how to do it and I got to do it this way because this is perfect and sometimes what we do we fool ourselves because we're afraid to do anything different into thinking well you know is that a rogue I'm not fixing it I think that's a dumb assed statement that ever has been brought hate that statement when people say oh well if it ain't broke I'm not fixing I'm just well honey it may not be broke but maybe it's just downright boring you know what's so you know we have to be willing to push the envelope a little bit and not you and not be afraid the worst thing that can happen is that you take a bad picture oh hello I owned that one too so you know it's you'll probably saw me take at least one or five or twenty five yesterday that we're not too good

Ratings and Reviews

I almost didn't bought this course due to low rating and what other reviewers were saying about her, but because it was on sale at incredibly low price that i decided to bite the bullet. And I am so glad I did. First of, for those reviewer that find her offensive, because she talks loud or make some jokes to her models or her audience, i don't think that it is offensive at all and neither did her audience or everyone in the studio. As a matter of fact, they were enjoying it. And I did too, was laughing while watching them laugh and having a good time. There was nothing wrong with the audio. I heard her just fine. I found her class to be the best class ever because she only not answers questions by theory, she demonstrate them live with the participation of her audience and the creative live crew and that's what made her class very interesting and not boring. She also uses real people and not models with perfect sizes or figures and it really helped me a lot because i have a challenge when it comes to posing plus sized people. I love her sense of bluntness, humor and at the same time, all the wonderful nuggets of wisdom she shared to her audience. I had purchased tons of creative class about photography and to tell you honestly, i haven even watched the full content on some of these classes because i get sleepy and bored but with Bambi's class, i watched her class in just 2 days without even feeling bored. I don't write reviews and in fact this is my first time to write a review here on creative live because i just feel the need to say that it's very unfair for her to be criticized liked that. I love you Bambi, I love your personality, I love your style and the information you taught were very invaluable. Thank you.

Loved the invaluable lessons! I can't wait to go through them all again. They are jam packed with valuable and tactical information that creatives on every level can take from. Her energy and personal style creates a great experience! I can only imagine how cool it would be to take a class from her in person! She is such a treat and so inspiring! I LOVE how enthusiastic Bambi is about the questions she receives and encourages phototgraphers to continue to grow, learn, and think out of the box. Thank you creative live! I feel like there should've been something like fire works at the end because she did outstanding!

I’ll be honest. Ms Cantrell moves very fast, but her experience, humor and confidence are infectious. I thought I would check out a lesson or two and ended up watching and listening to her entire program. She is clear about her process and why it works so well. Her portraits are beautiful, whether individual or group situations. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentations, and I am a landscape and pet photographer. But I feel like I learned a lot about seeing, and was reminded of approaches to running your own creative business that are valuable for anyone. I have been very impressed by the professional instructors in every one of the CreativeLive courses I’ve watched or bought. It’s not every professional who can teach! I know. I am one who could not handle classroom situations. So happy I was able to join in on these classes. Thank you, Bambi, for all of your energy, and for sharing your knowledge with all of us. This was quite a ride!
