Developing a Social Media Strategy for Photographers with Colby Brown

Great course if you are struggling with SoMe. Lots and lots of valuable inputs. Definitely recommend it!

I realize this is a few years old but it still had great content. It would be really amazing if there were continual updates to keep the content relevant.

I use social media on a personal level, but am not a regular user. That said I have sold a photograph through my personal IG account. Now it's a matter of building momentum and looking at social media through the lens of a business person, which feels kind of unnatural to me. But if I want to sell prints, etc., I'm going to have to change my mindset. Colby's course has given me a number of ideas to work on immediately. I found value in this class.

I cannot recommend Colby Brown’s course on social media for photographers highly enough if you are serious about taking a deep dive into this complex subject. It has taken me several weeks to work my way through all the videos, and I’m not done yet. I have implemented a variety of tweaks and changes on Instagram, just for one example, that instantly increased my traffic, engagement, and followers. This course is not a frivolous survey; it covers every possible subtopic and angle in depth. This course is designed to help you develop a Social Media strategy if you are Photographer. I am a professional photographer with over 37 years of experience and although I know how to use Facebook and Instagram I didn't really understand how to use them to achieve business and personal goals. I started watching this course about 2 months ago and have just finished it due to work commitments. However I have put into practice his advice as I learnt new understanding and my following has grown rapidly. Also my work load and quality of assignment has increased dramatically too. It takes some brain rewiring to understand how social media has taken the place of many traditional media streams but Colby does an excellent job of painting a picture that helps hugely. The best thing about Colby's strategy is that it is real life, honest and something I feel I can personally and ethically live with happily. I happily endorse this course and recommend it.

This is something we all need and all Photographers I know struggle with the "Social Media Strategy" - I do! Colby lays it out quite logically.

Colby Brown was a fantastic teacher for this course. I liked that he included how social media got started and how that effects how things run today. He really broke it down to easy to understand concepts and how we can step by step up our social media game. He included other photographers and how they use social media so it was nice to see a variety of ways you can use social media to help our businesses.

I am fairly new to social media so I learned a lot and will be implementing a couple of changes / enhancements to what I was doing. Colby is obviously very knowledgeable. It did seem like he repeated information quite a bit - might be able to present this class as one day and give the same information.

Packed full of useful info for anyone looking to optimize their social media game. Colby is an expert, I've appreciated his complete transparency with all of the monetary aspects involved in promoting your photo business. I would highly recommend this course!

This is such a helpful and necessary class. Colby really breaks down the information in an easy to understand format. If you are starting a business, you really should purchase this class. I learned a few things I never knew...especially the whole inside scoop on LinkedIn....who knew??? Easy to listen to....a lot of deflection to later answers to questions...which would have made a director allow for less...why ask if you cant answer just then....and he says every question is a "great question" but it clearly isn't in a few cases....so credibility goes down...I understand positive enforcement for the millennials...but every question is not great. otherwise easy to follow and straightforward....

Great presentation by Colby. He seems to talk honestly and openly about his experiences. He dives deep into both the actionable things to do as well as the more thought provoking questions of motivation and goals an strategies.

Phenomenal information by one who's done the hard yards. I've googled and studied and patched together lots and lots of information on social media strategy over the years. But this course has it all - honestly. Colby has weeded out the useless and presents only the gems that are especially valuable for us photographers.

There is some very useful information and advice expertly delivered by Colby Brown. Although my next comment might be for my own needs only, what I'm still waiting to find is a course which takes me step-by-step through setting up my Facebook and the process of using each feature of the social media site. This could be presented in sections relating to each task and by the end of this interactive demonstration the viewer should be experienced and proficient in using Facebook. This could take the format the same as Ben Willmore presents in teaching how to use Photoshop. I'm tiered of hearing the marketing campaign about the reasons for using social media. I want training on directly how to using the medium step-by-step. The course would need to be dated to the current version of Facebook so that when the social media platform is updated we can purchase the most relevant course at the time. You can have 'spin-off' course that relate to Facebook such as Instagram. CreativeLive can reward me for my idea with a complimentary course or few :-)

I find this course extremely valuable...
