Although this is for a older version it still helped me come up to speed as migrate off of Lightroom. David knows his stuff and did a great job of explaining the various tools.

I'm mixed on this. This class has TONS of great info, but I cannot lie.. David is BORING.. I find that I'm falling asleep, doing other things, mind drifting off.. I have to really focus to pay attention with his classes. The info is GREAT... just boring.

I recently purchased Capture One because I needed a RAW converter that was more dependable and also more reliable when it came to shooting tethered. I also noticed that many of the photogs I follow really enjoy using Capture One and rave about its efficiency. After looking at a few YouTube videos I decided that I needed something more thorough and of course CreativeLive delivered. This is an excellent course and David Grover is a superb instructor. His in depth and thorough knowledge of the software is obvious but his manner of speaking and the simplicity with which he provides directions makes it easy to learn Capture One and lets you appreciate a sophisticated and expertly engineered software. If you're working with Capture One 11, layers is a little different than in version 10 but otherwise everything David discusses is the same. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and will continue to refer back to sections as needed. Thank you Creative Live and David Grover!!

Go David Grover and Phase One for this informative tutorial. Completely opened my brain to the possibilities of Capture One.

I commend David Grover and Phase One for his/their continuing education seminars and classes at CreativeLive on Capture One. Every time i view a class by David i learn something new even though I have been using the program for almost ten years.

Drop the couple of bucks and watch this collection of instructions. David does a great job delivering it, and it's as much an instruction on how to get good images as it is an instruction on a specific software product. It is EXACTLY what it is advertised as. As a Capture One Power User, all skills were previously gathered via Phase One's FREE on-line webinars; but I still found this very worthwhile. A modest level of photographic proficiency is probably a baseline need to fully grasp this series. if you need it, watch the webinars first. Again, they're free. I've seen the occasional negative commentary...it doesn't do this; it does that, etc. Use what suits you best. But for my needs, C1's capabilities are a generation ahead of the competition. And I will never speak a negative word of the competitions' perceived failings. They might be just what another photographer needs. Andy

The course is excellent and David does a nice job. However, I'm an advanced armature, not a professional. I had my own personal color darkroom, then Photoshop/Bridge, and NIK which I still use occasionally. My intention is to rely on Capture One which I purchased about 90 days ago. I would have appreciated a SIMPLE, here is how you load (Import) an image, "save" or "save as" and how to simply export an image (Variant). Yes those items are covered but, David has a tendency to casually and very quickly jump from Tool Tabs or Cursor Tools or the Tool Bar and then magically it's done and he has moved on. How did he do it. Based on David's training, I love the results I get with Capture One Pro. Yes, I know this is not Photoshop - it's much better. I never used Lightroom. I added variant to my vocabulary and I understand all the tools. I still struggle with the simple import, save, save as, and export of a image I worked on and cropped, then trying to consistently open that image as I see it in Capture One Pro. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I don't know why. I will continue to re-review the course materials and I will figure it out. I know there is something simple I missed as David navigated the various tools and pull downs. I recommend this class but it does little for the armature. Capture One Pro is second nature to him and he knows all the ins and outs. I would help me a lot if he just add a 5 minute intro, importing an image from a folder, just crop it, then export the variant and open it in Photoshop.

Excellent. High marks for David Grover's instructing style.

Even though I have been using C1 for nearly 18 months (coming from LR) I always find David to do a good presentation on using this software. As some had stated it was not a workshop on model shooting, but one on how to use C1. If you are new to C1 or have been using it for a while this course is well worth viewing.

One of the best online trainings for Capture One by Phase One! David's training style and approach on how to use end to end workflows nicely reflected in this course. As a pro photographer I highly recommend this course. Keep up the good work team Creative Live and PhaseOne!

I have been using Capture One for just over a year and a half and have been pestering CreativeLive to put on a comprehensive and coherent course of the program. They came through with an excellent course by David from Capture One who created a flowing and easy to understand walk through of the entire program. I picked up some tips to improve my workflow…. thank you David! David’s approach made it easy for the beginner to understand but still keep the more experienced user watching as he gave tips and shortcuts to many of the already strong features of the program. For a studio photographer like myself the flawless tether capture is worth the price for the program. One tip I would like to give new users is stop saying, “but Lightroom does it this way!”. Accept how Capture One Pro does it and you will soon discover that the program is more intuitive and more powerful than other programs. Thank you again David Grover and I look forward to other CreativeLive classes put on by Capture One. Dennis Bater Victoria, Canada

What an excellent dissection of Capture One. David is one of the best presenters I have watched presenting what many people consider complex look easy and streamline. Though I have been using C1 for over 2 years now and very efficiently I must say, after watching David getting in the first part of the course and through the rst of it, I was overly compelled to purchase it and in the last 2 days, my understanding and application of C1 through my workflow had increased exponentially., Most importantly I have a resource that I can tap into any time when I need to explore other modules within the software. For me personally, this was not a course about learning how to photograph and interact with a model or another individual in front of the camera. It is about the software and how great it is to use for tethering and how to streamline your RAW processing workflow. Added to that, I love how you can work your RAW capture before taking them into Photoshop for further localise retouching. Thanks for the great instructions and tutorial over the last few days. I finished a photo session earlier, my make up artist asked me what happened to my shots, they just look so awesome? I told her, I learned something new the other day and I added my touch to it and this was the result. Great stuff David. Thanks

Very informative, interesting and hit every mark on my wish list. This was a presentation on the software application that delivered as advertised. I appreciated the "mechanic" delivery. I've been using Capture One for several years now (since VER 6) but specifically for Infrared photography as Capture One is by far the best application for interpreting the custom white balance and adjusting white balance in infrared imagery. Now I have a better appreciation of the application to make use with processing my colour photos. Bring on more from the "Mechanic". Kudos to CreativeLive and the "Mechanic".

The vidoes are highly inofmrative but my critiques are these: I loathe the topics list is a popout instead of a simple list on the page so I can see the topics without a popout, The other is that the list tells you how long each segments is but it does not tell you the total class time length,.

This is a good overview of Capture One 10. The course is well structured and presented logically and progressively with clear and concise examples. The software is intricate and the amount of details presented will benefit from a second or third viewing, along with sufficient practice. David is an excellent teacher, slow enough to follow, fast enough to keep the listener's interest. I would agree with a previous reviewer that the shooting session was uninspired but the tethered demo was thoroughly useful nevertheless for someone to become an assistant, for instance. If you have ever used LR in this role, you will appreciate the power and stability of C1 for tethering. With regards to the comment about this class being non-creative; before you can run you have to walk and this course is all about understanding how to operate the software not about what you eventually want to do with it. Capture One is well designed, speedy and its homogeneous interface makes it easy to get to a result once you have a good knowledge of its layout and principles, compared for example with LR which is all over the place with modes, inconsistent and slow operations. Likewise, the C1 color editor is miles ahead of LR color functions, in simplicity and overall efficiency. This class is about mechanics for a reason; creativity is a parallel stream. It would have been beneficial to have a module highlighting major differences with LR for people migrating to Capture One as the word on the street is that C1 is hard. I would suggest to listen in to convince yourself of the contrary. All in all, I recommend this class; it is time well invested if you want to become more comfortable with Capture One and discover its potential.

As a member of the studio audience, I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the CreativeLive staff. They all seemed genuinely concerned that I got the most possible from the class. The class was extremely well run. I have watched David Grover's CaptureOne Pro webinars for some time now. In person he steps it up another notch. The depth of his knowledge and his ability to get that knowledge across is amazing. It was an enormous amount of information to absorb so I am looking forward to being able to go back through the segments to answer questions as they come up. I highly recommend this program to anyone who uses CaptureOne Pro no matter their level of experience or expertise.

I thought this was a great course, that covered Capture 10 very thoroughly, and I plan on using this film as my reference book for this program

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for; a through, straight-forward tutorial. Absolutely clear and always focused (pun intended) on the topic for each lesson. watched the whole class free, but still bought it as a permanent reference. Last year's C1 class was a disaster. This one is a gem! Unlike the previous comment, I've very happy to have it full of solid info and moving right along-content wise–much better in my view than chatty and cute. I'm not watching this class to see a studio photographer's model management skills--it's not the point here–that would be a different class. I want David to be mechanical, informative and I am not watching it to judge his skill as a photographer. Instead, I want what he delivers--a deep dunk into C1.

  • O. Jan 31, 2017

As a longtime Lightroom user, I was pretty hesitant to make the switch to Capture One. However, David's teaching has shown me, it's totally possible. I love his teaching style...tons of info without wasting our time with banter or dead time. Great delivery!

  • Derek R. Jan 31, 2017

I had the opportunity to sit in the live audience when I was in town and I'm glad I was able to hop in on THIS class. Picking up photography again I was a little lost on what software I should use and how to use it for post process. Talk about attention to detail and covering everything! I feel fully confident now when it comes to getting the most potential out of my photos. Even ones that I thought I might have to throw away. This class is well worth the investment, not only in the software education but also yourself. If you have any questions student to student, feel free to reach out to me on Instagram @derekrodenbeck. It's 100 percent worth it, I'm very excited to get out and work on my photography. Thanks CL!

  • Cameron D. Jan 31, 2017

David is excellent. He shows the ends and outs of C1 without getting into flash or off topic. I have taught C1 to small groups of pro photographers and have watched many C1 webinars. By far, the best, intensive one to date. Well worth the time.

  • James T. Jan 31, 2017

CaptureOne is a very powerful RAW processor and there is a lot to cover. David does an excellent job conveying the basic and key features to get up and running with CaptureOne 10.

  • Art A. Jan 31, 2017

I think this is an exceptionally strong class. (I watched both days and was riveted!) The teacher, David Grover, works for Phase One (the creator of Capture One software) and teaching is part of his job. He has very deep understanding of the software, is very well organized, speaks very clearly and presents essential information well paced. I expect to be able to dive in and use the software based on these two days of education. Some months ago Creative Live presented a class on Capture One by someone that uses it for photography, and that class not remotely as effective as this one, in my opinion. This time around CL found someone exceptionally qualified and talented as a teacher. So I highly recommend this CreativeLive class on Capture One, and be sure to get the one by David Glover recorded January 2017.
