This course is bit out dated and the information is a little old. The instructor is very monotoned and hard to listen to for the ums and ah. May know his material but is not a instructor. Overall if you are just starting out you will pick up some good advice. I would give this course an overall 3 stars.

I think this was a good class on a very difficult subject. Stock photography changes by the day and I think the value here is that Geo tries tries to explain how to be flexible and adapt in such a market. I believe the Lightroom/Photoshop part should be shorter but he compensates for this at the end with his practical shooting session. I think there should be more of this down to earth kind of stuff from CreativeLive.

I loved this class! I cannot agree with some other reviews below at all Geo gives so much valuable information, and in fact I love his style much more than many other over-self confident speakers. He is sympathetic and likeable, and most importantly give very much valuable insights into stock photography. I just started with stock and got all my questions answered. I watched it already three times. The only part which I did not like so much was the post-processing part, because he could have explained better his workflow and why he chose certain actions. But that does not impact on the overall quality of the course. I can only highly recommend this class

My son has been telling me to submit my photos into stock, and Geo has inspired me to head in this direction. I liked watching the photo shoot and seeing his photos that sell. I think as Geo presents more and develops experience as to the information and questions that are being asked, he will quickly improve his presentation skills.

Thanks Géo for all of this information. I am new at stock, but not new to photography, so your information, direction, and suggestions are what I needed. I had watched the class, then decided to purchase it as I gear up for a successful stock business. I too use a mirrorless camera that I walk around with, a Canon, and that 135 2L. I look forward to your Instagram submissions. His style, I believe that's him, and it's cool.

I have some experience with stock photography and wanted to get more info from an insider on strategy for a subject, finding current trends that tend to change and also getting the most value for my work. This class delivered. Geo does not have a good flow for speaking on camera,, and is not the typical "symposium" guy, but if you listen to what he is saying, he is sharing some amazing information and is happy to do so. This class is well worth it !

I thought this was a great class and have to disagree with some of the comments from the hands down viewers. The audience was listless and did not seem to be interested in being there. Do you know how difficult it is to stand up in front of a bunch like this and keep your mojo racing? Very difficult. Hardly anyone asked questions and they all just gave a lot of nods most of the time. If your read ahead of time the info on the class, you would see that he was going to go into Lightroom and workflow. Yes, some of it was a drag especially all those pictures taken from the condo at a FL panhandle beach. But nothing's perfect. Maybe I got a lot out of this because I am newer at photography. I was glad to know about his equipment. Everyone's personality is different and for all the talent and success Geo has enjoyed, he remains a humble and very likeable guy.

I really enjoyed Geo's course. I am now much more encouraged about stock photography. Previously I have followed the blog of a stock photographer in the UK who rants on about having a Leica camera and pro lenses or your photos won't be accepted. Geo has been doing stock photography for years and obviously knows his stuff. I enjoyed his relaxed presentation style and look forward to more courses from him.

Packed with information and great tips

Personally, I really liked this class, but I can see why it wouldn’t be for everyone looking for information about stock photography. I’ve already researched and started doing microstock, but now I’m looking for more information about other options. This class was a good fit for me. Although Geo seemed new to public speaking and used too many fillers like “uh” and “um”, I found him likable and surprisingly relatable considering our different photographic niches. This class may be best suited for: Learning more about boutique galleries, rights managed stock and alternatives to microstock Seeing how this particular stock photographer works, gets inspiration and has been successful Getting ideas about current trends and sources for inspiration Getting the perspective of a creative director for a boutique agency Those interested in lifestyle photography May not be as suitable for: Broader and more in depth information about the variety of options in stock photography Those who want to focus on microstock New photographers who want detailed information about getting started and meeting technical requirements Those who prefer a more polished speaker

I think Geo was a little nervous so perhaps he came off as a bit low key but overall he did a good job covering a wide range of topics for stock photography aimed at beginners. I wish he had condensed some parts and spent a bit more time on the business side or had another guest from another stock agency to give some extra tips for the current market and trends and potential for growth and sales perhaps from another perspective. He gave some good tips and demos. He also made me consider getting a mirror lens which I never thought of purchasing to see if I could get the art effect he showed. While not a perfect presentation overall it was fine as a beginning course to put interested photographers in the right frame of mind to perhaps shoot for stock or look through old photos and make some sales to help supplement their income. I learned something new as I never thought of selling photos for stock.

This was very interesting and I thank Geo for his time and I purchased the course. He's a regular guy and someone who you can tell is a true photographer's photographer. For me, Geo's drive is strongly and quietly contagious and inspiring. He wants to get a great shot and thinks creatively and this comes through in his portfolio. I think stock is certainly worth a try and I am game after seeing this course. In particular, I liked the relationships built with the agency and learning about that side of what it takes to give stock a go...

So glad I caught this free course with Geo Rittenmyer - it has inspired me to have a go! Thank you! Perhaps it would be an idea if some of the concrete steps that others were looking for were provided with the bonus materials.

  • Anna Marie M. Apr 22, 2017

This course answered so many questions I have had regarding stock photography and working with agencies. Now I know a bit more and will be utilizing many of the things that Geo covered. Thanks great class.

  • Jeph D. Apr 22, 2017

Start to finish this class covered everything anyone would need to know if they want to shoot for stock. From the basics of what to shoot and who to contact, through the preferred equipment and videos of an actual location shoot with a model, this class and instructor covered it all. Thank you Geo and Creativelive for another quality production. Jeph DeLorme

Thanks for the great course. Lots of valuable information and inspiration. :)

  • Elizabeth Q. Apr 21, 2017

Been waiting for a course like this for a long time. Geo gives great hope for a photographer who thought Stock Photography was a dead end. Willing to give Stock a try. Would then value Geo giving my work some feedback. Thanks for your course! Really inspired. Liza Q. Johnson Chicago

Some valuable information here, which I appreciated.... but too much info that's just not related to stock photography which would have been better served in a separate topic. I like his laid back manner, makes the viewer think he's your average "one of us" guys.

  • Wayne G. Apr 21, 2017

I have great interest in stock photography so this workshop, especially with this person's expertise is invaluable, especially at this price. Nothing shortens your learning curve than talking/listening to an experienced pro.
