Fundamentals of Photography

make epic outdoor images.
Amazing class, it's been a while a wanted to take it and I have learn some great valuable lesson. Thank you for that inspiring moment
I don't even get how you could say this course didn't have an insane amount of value both in shooting tips, and business development I would recommend this class to anyone looking to gain skills in outdoor adventure photography.
While I think the information is good, it's mostly of him talking. There's very little shooting, which I don't find as helpful as when instructors explain, shoot, show results, show mistakes, etc. I also find it more helpful to watch the students shoot and get to watch critiques.
Amazing course covering the process of becoming a successful outdoor photographer. The class is packed full of information on shooting, gear, and business. It was a great alternative to a college course!
This class is a must have for anyone trying to make a career out of Photography. The amount of information and tips given is sure to catapult your work/ career to the next level or help develop a sold base to build your business. After watching these, I've realized many of my shortcomings and areas to improve on. Outstanding course! WATCH IT NOW!
So much important informations and skills in this course, got to come back to it and watch again, since it's few months I saw it first. 100% recommended!
I'm a big fan of Chris's work and think this is a good course. I would love for him to address the permitting he goes through when shooting in National Parks and Public Lands. Also would love his thoughts about how the social media images are creating downward price pressures on commercial photography (I've experienced named brands wanting to use images for free). Does Chris see this a problem in the future?
This class was packed full of amazing knowledge. I really enjoyed the topics covered and have found it super helpful for my work. I have had so many takeaways ranging anywhere from how to put myself out there, finding my style that stands out, practical applications, etc. I would highly recommend this class to everyone interested in photography! Big thanks to Chris and CreativeLive for putting this together.
I rewatch this course all the time, its like $8000 to do a workshop with Chris and this is a bargain in comparison. One of the best courses i've watched. The Lucas Gilman one is also worth checking out.
To those thinking of purchasing the course, just do it. If you read the bad reviews ignore them, This course has a lot of value in it. Specially if you look up to Chris. You'll learn about his philosophy and his simplistic approach to many things, that I believe are the reasons for his amazing pictures. I have read a lot about many photography tips but this class gives you what you need to know straight up (like the reality of making a living off of photography). For me this course has been invaluable. Take this as my grain of salt :P
This course was really great for me as a beginner, especially the part about leading lines, light and composition. But also the stuff about social media and the business was very interesting. If you are a beginner in photography, I highly recommend you to read about and understand the basics (ISO, Apperture, Shutter Speed, Dynamic Range, Focus etc.).
AMAZING! Chris has been my favourite photographer for a long time, and has inspired me in my own work. I got this as a gift from my girlfriend and have loved every second of it. There isn' t much talk about the camera itself but more about everything involved in becoming a great photographer, shooting locations, as well as tips on marketing and editing. Would highly recommend.
Chris is truly a master of his work. The idea of creating timeless photos will really resonate with you as he takes you through the journey of his thought processes..This course won't just leave you with a better sense of what it means to create beautiful moments, but will leave you absolutely inspired. Grateful for this one.
Extremely inspiring – your work and attitude to life is awesome Chris.
An excellent course from one of the USA's top photographers. The course really focuses on the process Chris goes through to make an image in a lot of detail from choosing a location through to how to colour grade in Lightroom. I would say the course isn't aimed at beginners and if you are just starting out then it would be worth doing a basic technical training course. What you will learn is how to take your outdoor photography to the next level. It also has lots of useful tips on marketing and career development. Highly recommended.
I LOVE this class! It was exactly what I was looking for. Already it has opened up new ideas and provided great direction. I have been following Chris Burkard's work for some time and was thrilled to find this class online! I appreciate his conversational teaching style and his gift for sharing backstories and personal experiences. I was not looking for technical information with this course but hope to someday soon make it out to California and attend one of his studio workshops!
Chis is a genius at his craft. He does a great job teaching his techniques and sharing a lot of his knowledge that he's learned from his experiences. I thought the entire lesson was really insightful and couldn't be happier with my purchase!
It's a shame your rating system is just thumbs up or down. A star rating would be much more appropriate. I would give this course 3 out of 5. I am a long time Fan of Chris and have all his books and met him recently at his Arctic Sky screening. I like parts of the course about composition, using light etc, but I also found that there was too much repetition, and the videos on the pier were boring to grind through. There was some valuable information there, but the course could probably have been 50% shorter. Also, I got the impression that he doesn't really edit his images anymore at all on the Post Processing part. It seems like his editors are doing all the work, and I don't really believe that his top images are just edited as slightly as he showed in the video. For fans of Chris's work I recommend watching it. You get some valuable lessons from it and if you pursue his style, it's a must watch. For everyone else, I would recommend searching another course.
His photography is awesome and his technique is great but he lacks knowledge in software and that bugs me, i purchased this but skip the computer stuff.
One of the best outdoor photographers in the world shares his knowledge and insights not just about his craft but the business and people are complaining about the way he talks or that he explains things with the camera he uses? Really? My assumption is, that some beginners couldn't follow his explanations (and never talked to a Californian). You should now the basics about aperture, shutter speed, iso, depth of field etc. because that's not what this course is about. For me this course is a true inspiration, giving me a lot of tools i can use not just in adventure photography but every time I talk pictures outside of a studio. If you want to take your outdoor photography to the next level, learn more about composition, considering light etc. this course is for you.
Great course! Really good if you are interested in outdoor photography in even the slightest bit. I learned more about post processing in Light Room from Chris in this course than I did in a previous course that was just on Light Room.
This was a great course. The insight into his thought processes and techniques is invaluable. The content in this series is so much more valuable than another exposure tutorial. Massive fan of his work and his style. Great job.
The workshop with Chris was just owesome and totaly valuable for me, although I ´m working sa a pro freelance photographer over 16 years so far. Complete look inside all processes, relations, techniques. I would recommend this to anyone who wanna dig more into his passion.
I liked this class a lot! I watch it already for the second time now because he give so much information on how to make his amazing pictures and in-depth toughts on details regarding specific techniques, e.g. astrophotography and water photography. He has totally infected me now with the outdoor photography virus :) two tiny tipp for improvement would be first, to add slides and summerize the key messages thereon. And another one: it would have been great if he would have edited the pictures which were also taken during the excursions instead of some others. Because we were there with you! :)) But these are only minor things, did not impact on the fact that i full enjoyed it can only recommend it :) thanks!!!
Inspiring and some great insights. Definitely worth watching if you are into travel / adventure / landscape photography and a nice intro to astro. INSTA @jonny.adshead
