The instructor was very knowledgeable and motivated, and it was a good intro course to creating a blog, but I thought it fell short in a few ways. Everything about the course, the teacher, students, examples of blogs, subjects and photos, etc., was oriented to women. The course description didn't mention this and I felt out of place and lost interest after while. The course was mostly talking and included too little showing of actual websites, photos, or screenshots of processes of using WordPress, etc. Last, of the photos and blog pictures actually used, most were of and by the teacher, making this feel like a promotion for her business as much as a paid class.

I’m only on the second segment but I just had to express how amazing this class is! She is very knowledgeable and thorough and I find the input of the live students very helpful. I give the presenter and the class 5 stars.

While I would recommend this course, I must say, the speaker is informative; however, she uses a increasingly common habit, Vocal fry, or glottalization and it drives me to distraction. Vocal Fry or glottalization is a low, staccato vibration during speech, produced by a slow fluttering of the vocal cords. Since the 1960s, vocal fry has been recognized as the lowest of the three vocal registers, which also include falsetto and modal—the usual speaking register. Speakers creak differently according to their gender, although whether it is more common in males or females varies among languages. In American English, anecdotal reports suggest that the behavior is much more common in women. (In British English, the pattern is the opposite.) Historically, continual use of vocal fry was classified as part of a voice disorder that was believed to lead to vocal cord damage. However, in recent years, researchers have noted occasional use of the creak in speakers with normal voice quality. Before she records again, she would be well served, as well as her potential audience would be better able to listen and learn without annoyance if she broke this habit post haste. Otherwise, she is endearing and informative.

Wonderful! April presents in exactly the voice she teaches, with warmth, interest, and humility. I don't even have a blog nor any plans to keep one and I watched for two hours.

This is the second of April's Creative Live courses that I have purchased. Although I didn't get the chance to watch it all the way through when it was live, I knew that I had to own it to watch when things settle down and I have more time. I am a beginning blogger and creative entrepreneur, and April has a way of making every aspect of blogging and marketing understandable and accessible. I know my money is well-spent for this one!

April is one of those people you fall in love with and can't wait to hear more from her. All of her classes are full of inspirational stories and how-to's that sincerely make her one of my favorite instructors of all time. This particular class was highly informational and I have rewatched it many times while designing my blogs. 10/10!

Ok, I was totally skeptical about even watching this class when it was being broadcast live, let alone buy it, but the more I watched it the more I was intrigued. I ended up buying it (not having been able to see the whole free live show) and all I can say is apart from 28 Days with Sue and Marketing Your Photography Business by Sal Cincotta have I seen a class this jam packed with great info! And I will admit that I even took more notes on this class than any other Creative Live class I own (and I own a lot). I took so many notes that I literally used up one and half ink pens (not even joking!). She leaves no stone unturned and provides a ton of slides and a great workbook to help you along the way. I didn't walk away from this course thinking I wish she had went into more depth on something. All I can say is this class was worth the $59 I spent and absolutely incredible! Buy it!!

Rebecca LaChance Art & Photography Just finished the session about "your ideal reader" and I am flushed with excitement. April anwered my questions about how to identify those readers with absolute clarity. Only 3 sessions into the course and I have lots of "to do" and "check this" notes. April is very knowledgeable, inspiring, and gets her message across with great clarity. This course will be my go to textbook as I develop my blog and my voice. Definitely worth every penny!

I've really enjoyed this course and how it has provided me with the framework for developing my own blog site. The downloadable course materials are rich in useful content and the course has been a real help in helping me get a handle on where to start and what to consider when creating a blog for business purposes.

  • T. Jan 21, 2015

This is a great seminar, so much good information! This is definitely one of the best courses I've taken on CL, it is packed so full of information that every session is important. I'm glad I bought it so that I can go back and see the information again and again when I need it. Thank you April and CreativeLive!

  • N. Oct 18, 2014

Although I am not a creative entrepreneur, April's lessons were timeless advice for my blog. Watching it in January made me commit to a new resolution and I have been setting up my blog totally new and with her workbook it was easy and fun to define my ideal readers and create helpful content for them.

  • K. Oct 17, 2014

I have finally finished all of the courses and I am pumped to get started on my business blog. I'm not making a living from my blog but it is a key piece to my online presence for my photography. I hung on to every word and I'm sure there was smoke coming from my pin as I took an abundance of notes. I have so many ideas and new tools to try to learn more about my target audience. Thank you April and Creative Live for a wonderful program.
