Are you ready to delve into the magical world of fine art photography? Join innovative and award-winning photographer Jennifer Thoreson for an immersion into everything you need to know to conceptualize, style, and shoot photographs that double as works of art.
Jennifer will share her unique method for turning a natural setting into a fine art studio, including her one-of-a-kind-technique for creating water portraits. You’ll master the essential principles of posing, lighting, styling, and costuming. Jennifer will also cover working effectively with models, communicating your personal vision, and using Photoshop to add a fine-art-style polish to images.
By the end of this course, you’ll be inspired and empowered to bring a new level of artistry to your photographs.
100% for the model in the forest :) She was so accommodating and patient, and pretty too. Makes me feel better about getting my model stuck on an island and us having to be rescued lol. I'm sure it was worth it for the beautiful images.
There's a ton of great stuff here and I'll be bringing a lot of these ideas to my own work. My only issue is that there is too much footage of watching Jennifer speak to the model and not enough of watching the model react to the direction, or when the shot is of the model, the shot is too zoomed in and we can't see anyway. A bit frustrating because we only see the tethered shot after the fact, and things have already moved on. Maybe a split picture would be more effective?
great course great explanation and a complete look in her photo kitchen respect!
I'm only near the conclusion of Session 2 however Jennifer's photography is impressive. Jennifer is very generous in sharing her experiences, processes and tips for emerging photographers or photographers making the shift to Fine Art photographer. Thank you so much. Cheers, Dianne
Great class even if you don't shoot portraits.
Overall it's somewhat interesting, but I don't know where she got her information about tintype photographs. She stated they used a sheet of tin, but tin is not the metal that is actually used. Also, she states the exposure took "hours," which isn't true if the light was good. More like a few seconds, to maybe half a minute.
Do not hesitate to buy this course .. Jennifer has given me so much inspiration & information an absolute joy for me to learn from this class. Thank you so much this photographer & artist has come into my life at exactly the right time I can't Thank you enough. 10/10
I found the course to both interesting and useful, easy to watch and follow.
Really love how honest and sharing the instructor was. Really enjoyed seeing her process. I did not like how long some of the shoots were that she did and I felt like it could have been wrapped up a lot sooner. I also felt like she put the models in positions that were very uncomfortable for them but I don't think they had the guts to tell her so because they were filming this event. Many of the times I was afraid the models were going to fall off the chair or that they were hurting their knees because they were outside on the ground or they were too cold in the water pool. Many times I felt the models looked very uncomfortable . And I wasn't really okay with that. But the rest of the class I thought was Really Really good.
Wow... incredible! I've only watched 3 episodes so far and I'm already re-evaluating who I am as an artist and deeply thinking about my 'why'. The technical is wonderful, of course, but this method of delivery is immeasurable. Thank you, Jennifer
wonderful
I love watching her work. Don't know how much I picked up but she gave me a lot of inspiration. Her posing is so interesting and different from everyone else, yet she makes it look good.
Jennifer is real and unique and I love her natural flow.
I truly loved her presentation - "Chipping all the stuff that don't look like you" wow!
Jennifer is totally amazing! This class was weird and great at the same time. Very interesting. This is cool stuff! I highly recommend this class
A truly inspiration class! From the beginning till the end! I will watch it several times! I like how she maintain a relax and calm direction of the models even if she is a bit nervous. A big thanks for the Cretivelive team. As an opinion you should have more classes on fine art photography (or less comercial..) Also can you please credit the name of models? All the best
Absolutely loved every minute of this class. Have watched it over and over again :)
Thank you Creative Live for bringing on Jennifer Thoreson. She is a true source of inspiration from her explanation of her journey into fine art photography to her technical sensibility to how she gracefully works with models. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for creative inspiration. I look forward to watching her other courses.
I've purchase several CL courses and am always impressed with the quality of material and expertise of the instructor. This class, however, is one of a kind. The very first segment, on Influences & Inspiration, gets right to the heart of what it takes to find your voice and style as an artist. Jennifer Thoresen shows that self-reflection and vision are crucial elements to pursuing meaningful work. Her instruction is top notch and her images captivating and provoking. Highly recommend this course.
This was a very good course for me to learn to slow down and communicate with models. I've been a commercial photographer for 10 years now, and it improved my sense of composition, lines and communication. Her talk about relationship with models and her care in asking for very specific movements improved my vocabulary with my models. I have a different sensibility of composition than Jennifer, but her talks about what she likes in images helped me evaluate my own likes and solidify what I'm looking fore.
I am writing this Review before I am even finished the course ...I have taken a few similiar courses, but this is BY FAR the most inspiring, the most creative, the most amazing course ever. Seriously breath taking!....I even found myself literally holding my breath more than a few times. Jennifer is truly one of a kind.
I loved the class. It gave me so much inspiration and the tools to try and achieve images outside of my regular style that came out just beautiful.
I love her work and her teaching. Her perspective is so beautiful and inspiring. I had the opportunity to attend a workshop with her in Colorado this summer and it was a life-changing experience. The location was spectacular. Jennifer is so brilliant, yet so warm and friendly. I really just don't have enough glowing adjectives to describe this event.
Your images brought tears to my eyes..no joke ….just breathtaking. I am SO excited to take this journey with you. Sounds silly I know, but I mean it. I am SO inspired thanks again Jennifer …wow!!
FINALLY this is what I have been looking for. You love the same paintings I do but you saw what I did not….Fine art without the insanity and lighting….ooooh Jennifer thank you thank you SO much.
