Picture Perfect Lighting with Roberto Valenzuela

There is good content here, but Roberto's explanations of how lighting works is really, really poor. It is difficult to watch, it is so bad.

I learned about lighting from this course specifically about using a flash. He also covers reflectors well. Roberto is an excellent teacher, He is quite talented. This is a great video to learn about event and wedding photography without an assistant. I recommend this class highly.

This is the best Creative Live class I have taken. Really got some lighting concepts clarified for me by breaking it down piece by piece. Roberto also has a creative way of teaching. He clearly is talented with his vision and application of light. It was also interesting to see him applying the concepts "on the fly" during the shooting part of the class. I would definitely take more of his classes.

I have taken his posing class in Houston. What impresses me is his ever present desire to improve his photography. This guy knows lighting!

A great class from a brilliant but fun communicator.

This was a fantastic course that covers everything from using natural light to learning to work with strobes in any situation. Roberto is systematic and clear in his presentation and I leaned so much from this.

I learned more about lighting in this class than I have in the previous two years combined! Roberto is an excellent teacher, he's not afraid to take chances and make mistakes. I can take what I learned in this class and apply to any situation or location.

Amazing class, with a huge amount of knowledge and information. I learned so much from this class it's unbelievable. Yes it's a lot of information, but it is broken down, and then builds onto itself in an easy to follow and understandable way. Highly recomend.

This guy really knows his stuff and, equally as important, is an excellent teacher. It's not easy to teach, *especially* when you know so much about the subject (as crazy as that sounds). And it is very obvious he was a school teacher because of the clear and thorough manner in which he shares his knowledge. He really knows how to break things down and present it in a way that's easy to digest. And often in a way you haven't thought of or heard before. He is very generous with his knowledge and doesn't hold much back. So happy I stumbled upon this instructor and I highly recommend!

Incredible class!

This course is worth every penny, and even at $99 it's an amazing deal. Roberto goes through so much information about lighting, using both natural light and strobes, you will feel so much more confident in your lighting if you study and master this class. Great!

I'm taking a portrait photography course at NYIP online. one of the mentors there recommended the posing book by Roberto. I ended up ordering at the library the posing and the perfect practice book. I fell in love with both books...ended up buying them and signing up here for the year membership just so I can take all of his photos courses. I spent most of my weekend doing perfect lighting course here I am in love with the way that he teaches! He makes something so difficult and challenging for me make sense. I also like that he challenges us photographers to be true professionals. I am thrilled to have discovered Roberto and already noticed my photography is better in the short time that I've been studying him.

I had full access for 1 year on Creative live courses, so I've watched many, many courses. By far Roberto courses and books are the best reference to learn Lighting, Composition and Posing. As if he is discovering the science behind these things and is putting it into formulas that works. My shooting has improved immensely in no time Bcz of him. Respect :)

I watched every single segment, and will watch it all again. Bravo! I will be looking into purchasing other classes taught by Roberto Valenzuela.

Roberto is the master of masters. I've heard many top pro photographers reference Roberto's work for inspiration and instruction. It was great watching Roberto teach. Roberto holds nothing back when he teachers. Great to see CreativeLive gets the best of the best instructors.

I love Roberto Valenzuela. I love his sense of humor, and I love how he is a teacher, first and foremost. This guy knows his stuff, and if you are lucky enough to encounter him, you can learn a lot. He started out his career as a high school teacher, and after he got into photography, he put forth the effort to master it completely, and he aced it. He totally nailed it, and he took it to a new height. He mastered portrait and wedding photography, and now he is yet again blazing a new trail and teaching others what he learned. No matter how smart you think you are, he will bring things to your attention that you never noticed before. Things you never thought of before! It certainly did for me! He can make you a master. I would highly recommend this course!

good to see a pro working on a location, even if these classes are a bit chaotic, being able to see how to set up a scene, instruct a model and arrange lights is a good way of learning the process... the only difficulty i had was related to the fact that there were very few explanations given how flashed are triggered and what he was doing inside the camera menu, it would be good to have it on a screen to follow and understand better
