Become a Better and Funnier Speaker with David Nihill

Enjoyed the class! Very charismatic presenter. Super helpful, practical advice that I'll be using even for writing. My only (minor) difficulty with this course was how information was organized / structured. There's a ton of tips and techniques given, so I took many notes while listening, but had to rearrange the notes and move some points and topics around just to structure the information for myself in a more logical way. I'm sure it's only a problem for left-brainers! :)

This was a brilliant, delightful course. David adds so much colour to the world of presenting and public speaking in a way that is quite different to many traditional approaches, and a great deal more enjoyable! This course includes plenty of examples, practical advice, and tools that I can use today to improve my communication. And, it's a pleasure to watch!

This is a short course on how to deliver a speech or a story...an be funny to the same time. I did learn some really good pointers and the videos are hilarious.

I watched it live and while David was great, it was a bit annoying that all the example videos were blanked out and there was no sound. Still learned quite some tricks that I can't wait to try out in my next talk.

David was great. He was very thoughtful, prepared , really funny and it's so great he gives a car away with every positive review :)

I had a really fun time with this course. In fact, my 11 year old daughter heard me laughing while I was listening and joined me to finish out the last half of the course. She was as riveted as I was!

This is a hard topic to teach, but David Nihil does it beautifully -- translating a skill that can seem to be based entirely on talent and instinct into techniques and frameworks for thinking that are truly accessible for anyone. He also does a nice job of explaining why there are points of commonly given advice that he's not on board with. And he's funny every step of the way.. Really nice content, excellently delivered.

I read David's book before taking this course. I found the combination really helped me gain a better understanding of how to be funny . I have been presenting for years, in an informative way and passing on knowledge. I feel this course will take me to a whole new level! Lots of tools for my toolbox. Thanks, David so much!

Many good ideas about speaking and presenting. It is good for public speaking and presenters in general, but unfortunately not applicable out of the gate for me when teaching serious subjects. Will require considerable more creative thought to cross over these techniques to my needs.

Pretty brilliant. David is hilarious so he is definitely using his techniques. Its also easier to follow the class and want more when they are funny. I think most of the presenters on Creative live should be taking this class too . Make it funny so that learning becomes "fun"-ner

I wasn't quite sure how I could apply this course since my speaking is always pre-recorded, but I was able to pickup a few tips.

David Nihill's class effectively broke down the fundamentals of comedy and how to make it work in a speech or presentation. You will never be bored while watching this, and you will be able to see the common elements of the best stand up routines, TED talks and speeches. Very well done.

Brilliant lecture. David managed to keep me hooked, and I am pretty sure I will do so much better on whatever public speaking I have to do next As a photographer, I know this will help improve the way I look at talking about my work, and I think these kind of skills are vital to any artist. One little thing I didn't like about this was more of a technical issue. He uses videos as examples to the content he is teaching, but none of the CL links to the videos worked. I know its probably a copyright issue, but I would rather watch bad footage of the TV in the studio than nothing at all. Especially since I can't pause the talk and find the videos. Regardless, brilliant talk. Definitely watch it!

David Nihill makes this class very approachable and breaks down how to approach your talk or presentation in a way that is fun and engaging. He uses examples to show you how other presenters have used the techniques that he outlines in the course. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to enhance their stage presence or public speaking.

4 stars. The content is totally 5 stars. I think this is the first time I have immediately used what was taught in a CL class. (This may also be the first time I have reviewed a class) My only complaint is that none of the http://cr8.lv links work. If there was a document with direct links to the videos he uses in class in the RSVP or Purchased bonus material that would be Incredibly helpful. I was able to find some but not all of the videos presented in class on Dave's site but trying to find which one he is talking about at a certain moment ruins the flow of the class.

Loved this class. It would be easily worth $100. I plan on getting Mr. Nihill's book asap.

David provides you with everything you need to know "for the rest of your life" about being a funny speaker. He digs deep into proven techniques. Once you master his techniques, you'll be on your way to creating great presentations, podcasts and videos. And yes, David will make you laugh a lot throughout the course. I was fortunate to be part of his live studio audience (which btw was packed with people).

I always wondered why my favorite TED talks look so effortlessly off-the-cuff while commanding my undivided attention: Laughter. David's class taught me how "The end of laughter is followed by the height of listening." Applying stand-up comedy techniques to the art of storytelling makes information much easier to retain, and hence, easier to share with others. David handily makes the case for why the comedic structure is necessary and applicable in a variety of cases, ranging from business presentations to blog posts. After learning about the joke structure and funnel, I now hear/see them in action throughout my day. He also shares specific tips on how to "memorize" talking points while remaining totally flexible to last-minute time changes (e.g. "Your 20-minute talk just got chopped to 5 minutes. Go!") David covers specifically how to start your talk, end your talk, and where precisely to position your Q&A sessions to maximize audience reaction to the speaker. He supercharges this talk with so many actionable tricks and tips. Sarah Cooper makes a guest appearance sharing 4 tips that I found especially helpful for creating funny visuals. David's heartfelt honesty about the guts it takes to "get up on stage" - the vulnerability of it - really shines through. And now, I carry my "Funny File" with me at all times. This is a truly phenomenal class, both in content and delivery. Thank you for making me laugh, David and Sarah!

David does a great job explaining the process behind humorous presentations. He gives very valuable insights that regular people can use to improve their ability to communicate by using humor in presentations.

He is genuine, likeable, and provided an enjoyable live session. Wow! 4 hours passed so quickly; there are so many great tips, points, and things that are attainable. Highly recommend it! Thanks, David and staff!
