This songwriting course does a great job of breaking down the process in a way that feels both practical and inspiring. The instructor explains melody, lyrics, and chord progressions clearly, using real-world examples that make it easy to follow along. It’s perfect for beginners but still offers useful insights for more experienced songwriters. Some parts could go a bit deeper, especially on advanced techniques, and a few more hands-on exercises would make it even better. Overall, though, it’s a solid, well-paced course that gives you real tools to improve your songwriting.
Cool class but after the first lesson and Rikk's 87th reminder of how "cool" EZDrummer 2 is and why you should buy it I started to get slightly annoyed. It does go through a lot of controls and how to use the software but maybe the next one, do it without mentioning every single software offering from Toon Track and that you should buy it. To be fair, most of that is in the first 2 episodes and it gets much more down to the meat later on. It covers an crazy amount of functions and I still review this class when working in EZdrummer 3 since the functions are still there only 3 is far more streamlined and has a great amount of new sounds. Good class. Grab it if you're not a drummer but want to sound like you are.
Great course, I have enjoyed it a lot and I'm sure I will come back to reinforce many of the concepts shown through the videos. Right now I'm good to go with ideas to apply to my songwriting skills and reinforce several concepts I already had developed prior to this course. This is a great lesson series... even for advanced musicians, anyone can get stuck in this wonderful world of writing and this course shows you tools to get out the best of this process.
Just amazing how easy can be explain this techniques, and for those who need to see how its done, its perfect, for me it is just perfect!
Great class!
Real Great Course. I learned a lot about Music Theory and now am jamming better than ever on my keyboard. Thanks Allen
I am a member of URM academy and this course is super defined! worth every penny to get in depth understanding start to finish of certain tools and plugins and how to use them. a lot of other instructors don't go as deep as this with the why and how to use certain plugins or what they do.
I love Brendon. He has always treated fans super well. There's so much wisdom to be gained from listening to him about workflow and music in general. Great class!
Lots of helpful information here but it would be even better if the instructor spoke more clearly. He speeds up and mumbles dramatically toward the end of each sentence making it pretty difficult to hear what he's saying. If you do more classes, please work with a video or speech producer to improve the delivery. Thanks!
Great teacher, teachings, very inspiring, and more than i expected!!! Thanks Isaac and Creativelive for this!
Thank heaps Eyal Levi! This is a mindblowing course and finally putting so many things in the right spot in my mind.
Solid course, but the drop of volume whenever the examples were being played back was very annoying. Probably not Eyal's fault, but it made it really hard to listen to what was going on. Aside from that, I definitely learned some good stuff from this that I will apply to my own production!
I really enjoyed the class but I am curious as to where the writing template for the DAW, the music theory template and the warmup that were promised to be included are at? Maybe that should be clarified or the materials be provided.
Very good mixing class which gives a lot of great new ideas and advice from a very clever guy! The speed at which Joey operates the DAW and plugins shows how many hours he has clocked doing music production. Everything is covered from methods of replacing sounds completely (adding energy to the mix with distortion / automation - complete sample replacement methods); to mixing raw recordings (raw drums / bass / Vox etc) and it also dives into top down mixing / mastering towards the end. Brilliant all in one mixing course.
AMAZING COURSE!
This was a fun course, that was easy to understand as a complete beginner, and as someone who isn't musically gifted but is more interested in the lyrical side of things, I did feel like I definitely learned what I wanted to from the lessons. Also the duo have a great dynamic, highly reccommend!
Have to agree with Richards statement, great course but the drop in volume sucks. most of the Time you can't even hear his examples. you just hear cymbals. otherwise this would be solid.
Wow, this course has been so helpful for me. I've always been frustrated as a musician with the production aspect and this course has given me the tools to overcome those roadblocks and get to making music. This course helped me in ways I could have never expected: I don't even have Ableton Live, I use a different DAW, but I was able to apply everything to what I have and learn more about my own DAW capabilities in the process. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get into producing music. Fantastic.
I'm not an electronic musician. I'm an amateur choral singer and tried. the oboe for a little while. But this (and the previous course) are mostly applicable across the (key)board. This is the music theory course I neglected to take in high school and college. Great stuff well presented.
Not just for Electronic Musicians! I am a Jazz singer and have always had to depend on musicians to collaborate on song writing. I am beginning to write and arrange my own songs using a DAW and this class was PERFECT for me. Jamming with real musicians is always fun but I can now use a DAW to visualize the theoretical aspects of harmony in a totally different way than on an instrument or on the music staff, and without the frustration of not being able to remember my chord positions on the piano. Just what I needed to really be able to get a running start with songwriting!
A lot of valuable insights from two awesome songwriters. I've been writing for a few years, but am not super disciplined. This class gave me some great information about how to tap into my own creativity and develop the habit of writing. Thank you!
Joey Sturgis is one of the most talented, humble, and well spoken producers/audio engineers in the industry. His Mixing Master Class inspires both a sense of structure and maximum creativity. Well worth the asking price. Thank you, Joey!
Well, I slobbered all over you after your first class and this one is as good or better. I realize people don't go to college for 12 years and learn what you shared in a few hours and you didn't earn your doctorate with just this stuff. I mean Julliard must offer a lot more, but you have advanced my knowledge by miles and I've got to say thank you. Make some more of these simple, common talk courses - I'll buy them all.
Wow, this course deserves more than just a thumbs up, but that's all I get. I have tried playing instruments for years; piano lessons learning John Thompson as a kid; band in Junior High and High School playing a Tenor Saxophone in the Marching Band and I have never learned as much about music as I did watching this course. Thanks! No condescension, no air of superiority, just friendly talk from a knowledgeable dude. Awesome!!!
In awe with this super kind and highly knowledgeable teacher! Wow, he really pours his musician's heart out in this outstanding course on everything that relates to being a musician, sketching, writing songs, composing, and so on. Also it's a course chock a block full of highly helpful Ableton Live project files, PDFs, and many many useful tips and tricks. I highly recommend this course, it should have cost WAY more, and in all honesty, it's a steal! And did I mention, that you learn a lot about and within the Ableton Live environment?! LOVE this course!
