Lighting 201 with SLR Lounge, Pye Jirsa

Pye is amazing; I love his use of lighting and he is such a great teacher; he is able to break down all his techniques and explain why he is going the lighting and the situation. Before I had taken this course, I had no idea how to use my speed-lights and my triggers; thank you SO MUCH to Creative Live, Pye and SLR Lounge for this amazing course.

Great examples of each concept and the introduction to post processing is spot on. Great to have the sample images to work from/on. Easy to understand.

I'm watching this live and am seriously considering buying this course. I really like the examples and all the information. Pye is super generous and easy to listen to. I also appreciate the talk about gear and am happy that Pye is giving us options for different price ranges. Thank you, Creative Live.

AMAZING I love how detail the 101 & 201 is when it comes to speedlite. I got introduced to it when I viewed and bought Roberto Valenzuela’s Picture Perfect Lighting But he didn’t go into it in depth and I watched other instructors to learn speedlite more and none of them even came close to Pye. This is so informative and I am now going back to Roberto’s Picture Perfect Lighting and apply his techniques in addition to Pye.

Want my money back. This course should have cost no more than $30. I don't understand why creative live allowed such low production and low content course for such an expensive price. Totally disappointed.

An excellent follow up to Lighting 101. Pye is an excellent teacher and the quality of the material provides for a rich and very informative experience. Pye breaks down the fundamentals in easy to digest packets and then elaborates as needed. As with Lighting 101, this is a must watch class. Worth purchasing and saving for future use. I would also HIGHLY recommend downloading the saving the PDF of slides that accompany the videos. I look forward to Lighting 301 and 401 which are apparently in production by SLRLounge.

I love the way Pye is teaching! I have watched his courses in Creative live and I'm really impressed by the way he teach, work and how he inspire people! Keep up the good work! :)

Watched this class while it was on air, and I must say I was glued to the screen the whole time. I am not a beginner, and think I know a lot about lighting, but I managed to find some really helpful tricks and technics. Loved that the course wasn't super overly technical though. It's just enough information to make you understand what to do without boring you to death. Really like Pye's style of teaching.

I'd like to say thank you to SLR Lougne, Creativelive and especially Pye for creating this wonderful Lighting series. Pye has a great sense of humor and he is also a great teacher. He expains everything in tiny details. I love his creativity, all the tips and dedication. Recommended!

Pye is a very effective communicator and is quite motivational in his presentation style. I was a bit put off by the infomercial section (Chapter 2) and my perception of that chapter might have been improved by a change in the course format. If the information in Chapter 2 was listed as a reference add on, I would have been more receptive to it. That way during the different demonstrations, Pye might have alluded to that reference section with comments like, "If you have any questions about what equipment I'm using, please check out our ...section" Other than that, I find on a daily basis as I listen and re listen, many snippets of information that are new knowledge for me and many great topics for me to go out and practice. In fact, I'm spending too much time writing this review...time to go practice! Dan

This course is the most thorough one I've ever watched. Some course just talk about the basics but this course gives you everything. Pye shared step by step instructions to produce some of the pictures he created. This course and Lighting 101 provide you with the knowledge on using, manipulating and creating the light. Looking forward to the 301 and 401 courses, Pye. What an amazing teacher!

Pye is a god. His teaching style is really engaging, breaking down everything you could want to know about each example in a fun yet detailed manner. The course is absolutely jam-packed full of great information and fantastic inspiration. This course, as well as Lighting 101, give not only a perfect foundation for anybody learning about flash from scratch, but also have more than enough tips and advanced techniques in them to help experienced flash users seriously up their game. Cannot recommend it enough.

PYE is an AMAZING instructor. Each tutorial is wonderful, and provides a framework to coordinate your own practice sessions at home. Major applause for this course!
