As a designer, one of the easiest ways to let a new potential client know that you have a sharp eye, good taste, and the ability to execute good design is to finish your conversation by whipping out a stellar business card. Leave it to the Smithsonian Libraries to have a delightful collection of vintage GIFs which blend the Internet's love of moving pictures with everyone else's love of classic line drawings. A current fascination among historians, the design-enamored, and people who like to watch old images take on new life, the GIFs have been shared everywhere from the Washington Post to Flavorwire.

Every now and then, I have a little conversation with myself about how the past week/month/year has gone. I think about the things I set out to do and wonder if I've done them.

Lettering, be it hand lettering, brush lettering, or digital, is enjoying a bit of a renaissance. This is good news for people who love working with their hands and find letterforms fascinating.
