Zombie Challenge 1: Prototype Session

we're moving into the prototyping session. This is where the hands get dirty. Preferably not bloody. Maybe a little dirty, but we're gonna start making things. So when you're ready, have somebody begin the harvest, come to the tools and do your business warehouse here says we're over here and we want to be united here. A diversionary mechanism. So what kind of things That could be considered a diversionary strategy. Sound movements way. Jack. Take your time. This isn't a competition. Although it might feel like it. I think we always you know, he's here. Children. Good answer. That was good. Lots of little doodads, too. Let's go. Yeah, leave it for someone. What? We're our mental challenges for sort of competing groups doing things right now. Yep. So we have a vision that incorporated a bunch of these different things. But also, like, I don't wanna Michael to get his fabric. Well, there's a lot of things. Okay, this is really good. So obviously there's, ah, finite amount of materials an...

d there's competing groups. So one of the things that's very interesting is that as you're going through your particular plan, you have gathered some things that you may not use, so it's important that you just bring those back. I mean, it's good everyone's gonna grab, You know, you have that hoarding. Sort of like Goodall that But then you realize, Oh, wait, we don't need that. So So there'll be a little of that so kind of move forward with the idea that you may, in fact, have what you need later on is that answer questions and ultimately, like we're able to we made build one thing. But you're that one thing is really representative of our situation. It's not our entire solution. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. There are additives that you can your story when you present, you can say, Imagine if you will. So there's a little bit of that there, too. So we're still creating in our story. Sorry. I'm answering your project. You're asking good questions. So that's Oh, good. There, Springs. Get in there. I'm afraid it will get a jacket. Get that crap that was in the, uh Oh, nice. Did you just have you also cut a lot of that fabric off the couch? To all that? It might be a bigger hammer. That might know very cool. That is? Yeah, not yet. Really, really Well in there. Quality craftsmanship. Yeah, I was. Oh, thank you. I'm really That would track There's some awesome stuff getting built. Here they go. That's That's the goal is to get them in. So what? What do you guys have going on? What's your ultimate We're gonna put this year. Have it? Oh, highest string on the answer. Other room. You could keep pulling it right. Okay, so it'll be like, just a Oh, nice. OK, Because you can you can you can actually trigger it from a whole. Exactly. I didn't, but that's very cute, Grandma, You're just crazy e I gave you that two Christmases ago. So, what is this, you guys? What you thinking about more? Yeah. Oh, okay. Great. Track them at that. So that's something you could trigger from another part of the night. Oh, and your great use of duct tape. All right. Good stuff. Wow. So, what do you guys planning here? Oh, I didn't see. That's great. Oh, very cool. Awesome. These were looking very cool. You guys. So what do you What do you guys planning here? If I can still sort of idea eating and really capturing. Like a lot of things here. It's in nine, But there is there gonna be ahead. I think that way springs. Yeah, that's awesome. This could be hair. Could be hair. You guys were sort of potentially harms. What materials are identical parts in the book is in place? Yes. Report on this rubber bands here, So cover bands way. Oh, I got more. Got more Good who this is. These are getting very sculptural. I'm sacrificing myself. I'm staying in the house. I'm just taking them all on. I'm the diversionary mechanism e I have my normal stomach. Good stuff on the floor. Still here. Do you need that? Maybe. Oh, goodness. Maybe I need a blade for the rest. Wow, that is looking awesome. E o e b b appear weaving. Oh, very cool. Oh, so glad that there were springs in there. It's always more from the springs, so these are actually looking very sculptural, like there were pieces that could be in the lobby every day. Creativity live. Okay, so now this is the point in time where I'm gonna advance the step, but we're still we're still creating. This is the moment where we're just amongst ourselves making sure that we're on target. Is there anything that we want to change? Are we? Have we satisfied the challenge? What's our story? How does this work? Thes are the things that we need to start asking ourselves at this point. You're getting these awesome things testing. Oh, my gosh. Now, as far as this process goes, we're doing it as a group. But if we're going through this process by ourselves, when we get to this stage, where actually we go out in crowd source, we talked to people. We get feedback, we invite people into the process. But since we're doing a collaborative method, we've got our group. We're working and we're talking. So we're getting that sort of simultaneously. It works. That's awesome. We need to stabilize that. Okay. Can we stabilize it with these? Wait, he's out. Right? I think this would work like Oh, I think I e grabbed. It was a good idea. I put it right over here. Yeah, this is yours, I believe. Wow, that's really coming together. That looks not only is it functional, but it's beautiful. Okay, well, that looks amazing. It's got a better. We need that table. It's evolving. Good. Yes. Try it again. According to plan, I just finished. Now, maybe not as long. Load on screen is that it's normal. Did you find out? Okay, but I just think way pull that way. Oh, nails in that. Is it too late? I mean, yeah, yeah. Minutes. Wow, that looks awesome. Now, at this point to you might want to sort of talk how you're gonna present this. Who's going to do what? Who's gonna talk? Who's gonna initiate the mechanism? What's the situation? Set it up where they come in. Like for now. What? Not just Is that just Platt? Is that plastic? Oh, well Oh, that they wrapped in that denim stuff, right? Right. Okay, So you're finishing up? You're getting your story straight down. This will be that. Don't be to work on that. The survival of the human race is depending on your mechanism. There you can Oh, yeah, yeah. Getting in there so that it's pretty good table to start rapping. I think that you could wrap wild, great use of duct tape here. Actually, you okay? Let's make our final adjustments. You? That might not work. Maybe that way. Way. Ah, that's a thing of beauty way. So, yeah. Just so everybody knows you're gonna bring your item. You're mechanism up here on. We're gonna Everybody else is gonna be sitting down. You'll be up here doing your your presentation. Bring it over there. Okay. Okay. That's way way. So is this your tape? You guys, So keep your tape. You'll need it. Right? Okay. Final final adjustments here and then everybody get back to your table.

Really enjoyed this class. Seeing the way each team changed at each stage was really interesting. Rather than learning about a particular thing like design, this class is more about learning how to think about problems and solutions in a different way.
