Crazy Stupid Light with Scott Robert Lim

This was the best class on lighting I have ever taken. If you get the chance to take this course take it!!!

This is probably o!ne of the best lighting classes I've attended. Scott is a fantastic instructor! This has made me very comfortable with using multiple flashes and lighting in general.

There is so much to like -- even LOVE-- about this class. Scott Robert explains light so well, respects and encourages creative differences, and empowers us with the knowledge to start using flash WITHOUT a huge investment. Love the emphasis on using manual flash instead of TTL. If only he didn't come off like such a misogynist every time he reduces his female models to "hot chicks." I found myself wishing they could shoot an updated version of this with a little more respect for women.

I love it!! I learn so much with this workshop, Scott is amazing, he explain everything in a very simple way, make you feel that is so easy and you can actually do it. I have severals workshops from CreativeLive, they are all good, but this is one is my favourite. Another thing that I love on him is that he is not afraid to tell us his "secret" how he does and so on, and with that, he actually show how confident he is on his technical and artistic ability, because he is not afraid of anyone copying his technic, because at the end, we can learn his technical skills, but his art is personal and that is what make everyone of us unique. I highly recommend this course/workshop.

The main asset of Scott is his ability to teach his students in a friendly manner, personal and accessible. He tells what he knows and he knows a lot and I can keep much of it. For me the best teacher and master among all others here. Thank you Scott for helping me, thank you Creativelive. You're also lucky having Scott on board. :-)

This course is full of gold. Scott is awesome and it's chock full of stuff you can use off the bat to up your game.

This is by far my most favourite course on Creativelive. It's inspiring, funny and most educational. I learned so much about flash and lighting and can't wait to practise all that I've learned. Scott is an enthusiastic teacher and his way of teaching just clicks with me. Highly entertaining! And it was fun to also get some posing, composition and other tips out of the workshop for variety. I 1000% recommend this course if you want to learn more about lighting in an inspiring way.

Scott is a master photographer, teacher and motivational speaker. This course will help you unleash both your professional and personal potential.

Truly phenomenal class. The shoot modules were interesting and informative, allowing the online audience to get a feel for real life issues and obstacles. (Kuddos to the fearless students in the live class!) The lectures sections, though, are where Scott really shines. His passion for lighting, for photography in general, and for his student's success is radiant. I filled page and after page in my notebook as he offered his insights, often having to stop the play back to wrap my head around the enormity of what I just learned. He uses speed lights and video lights for the demos, but the information is translatable to studio lights, so don't let that stop you from taking this course.

CRAZY STOOPiD LiGHT is Magnificent! so many of my questions have been answered in the 1st two vids!!

Scott is an example of everything a teacher should be. Technically and creatively brilliant, engaging, fun, entertaining, and able to very effectively communicate. If you're hesitating about purchasing this course, you have no reason. You'll get far more out of this than what you pay for it. I also attended his workshop of the same title. You have to work through this material over and over. Scott teaches perfectly. The hard part is taking his wealth of knowledge and making it your own. If you're willing to do your part, this teacher has certainly done his!

Thank you so much for hands on with Flash! I have never been shooting with a Flash, but you truly have inspired me to buy and try, and I have some ideas for portraits and have to finetune the light. This course has been awakening as far as lighting goes. I am excited to try it out! So from fearing and actually hating flashlights, I am now starting to play with some ideas of how my photos can get the wow factor! Thanks again for the inspiration and practical run through. I normally use available light but I got this course to educate myself in the use of artificial light. It has not disappointed. Scott is entertaining, very knowledgable and makes it understandable so you can go out and start practicing right away. Definately one of my better courses

This was the first class I bought from CL. SRL is an amazing teacher! He's witty, sincere, and vulnerable. His philosophy about manual speedlights (vs TTL) saved me a ton of money as I was just getting in to flash photography, and taught me so much about exposure!

I just finished this course today, and I'm so happy that I bought it! It's been on my wishlist for months, after watching it as a rebroadcast here on Creative Live. I absolutely LOVE Scott's approach to lighting. The way he explains how to light manually is so clear, and easy to understand; he also has a great sense of humor which takes the edge off of trying to get everything perfect the first time. I like how he encourages the class to just try new techniques, and if mistakes are made, that's okay, just adjust and keep moving. This has allowed me, as a perfectionist, to try his lighting formulas, with a lot of success. I'm so appreciative that as an instructor, he took the time to create a class that helps us as photographers to be more creative. Because of this course, I feel so much more confident as I experiment with light on my own, and then apply it to my work. I feel that I have all the tools that I need to create amazing images that really stand out. Thanks Creative Live for making this class available, it has changed how I shoot! =)

Scott is incredible! One of the best classes I have ever watched.

Mr. Lim has a gift; I like to say he is a teacher that takes beautiful pictures vs being an incredible photographer that also teaches. His course is an abundance of "Ah Ha" moments. In fact, it wasn't until I watched this course that my last few years of reading up on photography in general really began to take form. His course helped me step up from taking proper exposures, to creating images. This course is very much worth the investment.
