The Fujifilm X-T2 is one of the best travel cameras on the market, with a large X-Trans CMOS APS-C sensor packed inside a mirrorless compact camera. But that first date with the X-T2 doesn't always go well. Skip the 356-page instruction manual and explore the X-T2's features with expert photographer John Greengo at your side.
Start with basics like setting up the camera and taking the first shot, then dive into advanced topics like using a battery grip and customizing the electronic viewfinder. Learn how to capture an accurate exposure and how to work with the X-T2's AF system. Finally, in an update to the class, find out how to update the firmware and what new features Fujifilm has added since the mirrorless digital camera's launch.
This fast start course gives you everything you need to successfully shoot with the X-T2. Whether you are just picking up the X-T2 for the first time or are self-taught, learn the X-T2 inside and out, including more than a dozen "secret" shortcuts.

John Greengo is an award-winning travel and outdoor photographer. Along with his creative work, he's lead dozens of classes on photography basics. He's taught Fast Start classes for dozens of different cameras, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus digital cameras as well as Fujifilm cameras. He's lead several classes on X-Series cameras, including the Fujifilm X-T20, Fujifilm X-H1, Fujifilm X-Pro2, Fujifilm X-T1, Fujifilm X-E2, and Fujifilm X-T10. John's straightforward teaching style makes it easy to ditch the boring instruction manual to learn the ins and outs of your camera.
This class is definitely worth your time and money, John is very thorough and explains all of the settings of this somewhat complex camera. He has made me understand the functionality of the camera, and his instruction goes far beyond simply reading the owners manual, or an advanced book on the X-T2.
Great instructor and content. Excellent presentation and graphics. Thanks for the pdf summaries! I've had my X T-2 for over a year and have watched numerous youtube videos on it, but still had no idea how to really get the most out of the camera. John was extremely thorough, the class was fast-paced, and I learned so much. Now, I just need to practice. I was so impressed with the quality and format that I purchased an annual membership so that I can sign up for more classes by this instructor and others.
Excellent instructor, with great examples and updated information.
I can't figure out how to TRANSFER the photos from my camera to my computer....is this not covered in this class??? :(
Finally made it through the course to figure out the nuances of this new system! Coming from Canon, Fuji is drastically different. Focus is driving me nuts with this camera as buttons behave differently depending on whether you are in continuous, single or manual focus. I am used to back button focus - one button for all focusing. More time could be spent explaining all the different controls that have to be adjusted in the different menus in order to set the AF-L button to focus. It is not as simple as one would think. Otherwise, very helpful!! Also, the firmware is now up to 4.30 so I would love to know what has been added!
Fantastic course! one of the best course i have ever seen for Fuji Systems!! I recommend this course for Fuji X-T3 users too. @Jhon Greengo Please update Latest firmware Addendum 4.2.Thanks in advance!!!!
A fantastic course John. Learnt a lot about my XT3. Looking forward to the official X-T3 course :)
Great course. Even though it's not specifically for the X-T3, this has helped me get up gain a deep understanding of the camera. That being said, the XT3 does have some minor differences: the XT3 has a base ISO of 160 and phase AF on the entire sensor.
John is an excellent presenter, with great visuals, and a nice take away. I would like to see the promised firmware updates to 4.1.
Excellent course, just a caviat, version is now 2.11 Would be interesting to know what are the differences between the firmware this course relates to and the updated one . :)
Excellent step by step course on Fuji X-T2
Really appreciate John putting these Fast Start Series together. Went through part of the training waiting on my Fujifilm X-T20 to arrive, which did today. That allowed me to dive into the menu settings and get the camera ready to use. I found that we are on Firmware 3.0, so, I have some updates to get installed. The training was great and informative as always. Don't hesitate to look for his Fast Start for your particular camera, and the in-depth training on Photography Fundamentals. It is well worth your time and money to get this training, especially if you are an amateur like myself, but, thanks to John Greengo I am quickly learning to use my camera in Manual Mode, most of the time.
Very well presented, still learned enough after using this camera from the time it became available to make this class worthwhile. It was far more informative than reading the manual.
We all learn from different methods. I, for one, learn best by watching you while teaching, and being able to work along side you, with my camera in hand, and then follow you. I highly recommend this class if you really want to know how to use your camera. Thank you John for helping me to relive my film days, and integrating into Digital. I now have my Fujo X-T2 programmed and I LOVE IT!
The versatility and steep learning curve of the X-T2's menus and customizability were easily overcome after watching this Fast Start. The Fuji Manual's words and diagrams are acceptable, but John's words, visual, and demonstrations made this camera come to life as a tool I can use to it's fullest. I agree with Nigel, the course PDF has not been updated. Also, the Short Cuts page is missing the last two items he discussed in #36, Camera Overview. Would be nice if there was a reference like "Updated to Firmware release x.xx" on each page. Finally, Thanks for the tip on how to keep the rubber eyepiece clean. You helped solve a big annoyance I had during the course.
Great course as always with John. One question: Is the PDF supplied in the Course Materials section the updated PDF with the new firmware settings? It doesn't appear to be so, despite mention of this in the addendum.
I originally did the very helpful XT1 course with John. I have now done the XT2 course and again I am very impressed. I recommend anyone with an XT2 to get the course (EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR CAMERA). There are many aspects of the camera I was unaware of. Well done John.
Excellent explanation about the camera.Chapeau
I highly recommend this class! Been shooting Nikon for 40+ years and decided to give my Nikon gear to my daughter and go the smaller and lighter Fuji X-T2 for travel. Excellent camera and this course was outstanding in helping me learn how to use the camera. I have watched a number of Nikon oriented instructional videos. This video by John Greengo is the best organized and informative presentation I have ever watched.
Just moving to the mirrorless camera world and bought the X-T2. Great work John. I read the manual but still learned a lot. BTW, firmware updates have improved the Bracketing function. Now you can select up to 9 shots (not just 3) in the bracket.
Exactly what I was looking for. Great work John.
Really useful ! lot of tips & ticks
Great for Fuji X-T20's too.
I could have gotten any of this information from reading the manual, and a lot I already knew just from having used the camera for 6 weeks, but I am a visual learner and I still learned a lot, especially the short cuts. It was worth the money I spent! I liked John's no nonsense direct way of teaching!
A Big Thumb's Up for John's presentation and overview of this wonderful camera. He answered many of my questions with respect to the camera operation as well as questions I had yet to come up with. Will certainly be revisiting a number of his well organized chapters.
