Fundamentals of Photography
John Greengo
I loved this class. I was afraid that when I got my D800 it would take me weeks to feel comfortable with it (I was a Canon user before). But after this class, I was immediately ready to put my old canon away for good. Plus, he walked you through all of the settings so my new camera was set up perfectly. So happy I bought this course
Great class. I'm a recent convert to digital and I watched this twice and now feel like I understand my camera and it's capabilities. Thanks John!
Enjoyed it. After playing with my XE2 and XT-1 just wanted to refresh my memory on my good not-so-old beloved D800. Helped me to remember quickly what I forgot and learn few new tricks in a nice and simple way.
John is a phenomenal teacher and has a great style and his hard efforts are saw in his knowledge and the detail in his slides. This course was great however I would have liked more from this course. It seemed as if it scratched the surface of the D800 but not really got into the micro details of the features of this camera. In my opinion this is a GREAT course for the person just purchasing the camera. Keep up the great work John.
John is probably one of the best expert I know who can teach you everything you need to know (and more) about photography. I bought my D800 last week and his class could help me to be very quickly ready to take my photos and setup the camera with my usual preferences. I also have a D7000 but some items in the menus are dedicated to the D800 which is my first full frame camera. Thank you so much man
Like many men, I am notorious for not reading manuals. I learn better relationally rather than textually. I'm glad I bought the course. John does a great job in bringing the D800 manual to life. In doing so, he has got me off to a great start on my first FX.
I really liked the course as someone who used a Canon for a few years and didn't know Nikon at all. If you have a Nikon D700 already or know the system very well, I guess this course will disappoint you..
Excellent course and excellent instructor too. John covered a lot in one day and I learned even more. Now I have to decide whether I want to upgrade to the Nikon D800, the Canon 5D Mark III, or the next Sony Alpha full frame. CreativeLIVE is in a Nikon/Canon mindset and I realize this is the way things are likely to stay. But I'd really enjoy seeing John Greengo do for the full frame Sony Alpha 99 (coming in late summer) what he has done here for the Nikon D800 - though I know it probably won't happen. Outstanding series.
I've been shooting with Nikon DSLRs since 2007 and I would rate myself as an advanced amateur (I've shot a few weddings and have published material in digital and print forms). I really enjoyed this course because it brought me up to speed in a visual way with the technical advances to the Nikon system. John's a good, systematic teacher and his visuals are very helpful. I actually enjoyed the basics refresher part of the course and the price is very reasonable - this would be a $400+ PD if you went to a day course like this in Sydney, Australia.
Really enjoyed watching your videos. Very candid and very professional way. I am a subscriber of Lynda.com but liked your way of more interactive thus making things simple and to the point. It is not fair to compare your videos with Lynda.com as 90% of the videos there are old and useless for a contemporary IT person, secondly all videos have one guy explaining a software in an emotionless environment. Thanks again and I really enjoyed and will subscribe and recommend your site to my students as I am an Adobe Certified Instructor and Expert working at www.dynamicwebtraining.com.au, Sydney, Australia.
Id also like to add one of the main things i use for the camera for is landscapes. So was really looking foward to hearing about the best method of using mirror up and shutter delay release and self timing bracketed modes to decrease blur, which he only really glossed over at best.
