Maximize your camera's potential and take better pictures with your Olympus camera
The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II is one of the best lightweight Micro Four Thirds cameras on the market—but the menu system is one of the most confusing and the camera's advanced tools can be hard to decipher solo. Ditch the instruction manual and maximize the potential of the E-M1 Mark II by learning from expert photographer John Greengo.
The Fast Start class covers the camera's controls, features, menu system and more. From basics like taking your first picture to advanced topics, by the end of this class, you'll be able to expertly use the E-M1 Mark II's many features. Learn how to use the advanced features like the High Res mode and in-camera focus stacking and find shortcuts for the most frequently used settings.
Customize your camera to your shooting style by setting custom controls and settings. Walk through the different options and learn John's recommendations for each setting. Finally, set up a pre-shot checklist and learn how to adapt the camera to different types of images.

This course has been so useful! John is a great instructor. I now feel confident to get out there and shoot. I have the E-M1 Mark III and found that there’s not a great deal different between it and the MarkII, thank goodness! I highly recommend John’s classes
Please please consider adding the Mark III. I found this class very useful, but features and buttons are different on the Mark III.
This is simply the easiest way to learn how and when to use the different custom setting in this camera. The custom settings is what sets this camera apart from the rest and it would be very difficult to skillfully use them without first viewing this video. Save yourself the headache and buy this video.
This is a great course on learning about the OM-D E-M1 Mark II. I have watched it many times to get to were I know it by memory the best I can. I like to go over it as much as possible because there is a lot to learn. I do wish that John would do an updated version since now it is up to Firmware 3.1. It is like a whole new camera with the new settings.
Erg goede en goed te volgen cursus. Ik heb er veel van geleerd (ondanks dat het in de engelse taal is). John bedankt. Eize Tuinman (the Netherlands)
I wish I could do a review on the course.... Have asked twice if the course has been upgraded / changed to include the latest firmware updates but not reply. If no reply soon will have to look elsewhere !!!!! Not I pressed leswatkins@gmail.com
Wow, I'm in awe over the content and presentation of this course! This is by far the best way to become familiar with the features and use of the em1.2
Great class I am a photographer and switching from Sony Cameras to Olympus Camera and hate reading the manual. But this class was the best thing I bought for it. Not only it was easy and we'll put together, but just a few days I was up and running with my camera. And when I am stuck I go back to a lesson first before the boring manual. Well done.
John Greengo is a unique instructor. He is very logical in his presentation; however, he is also quite technical without venturing into the engineer realm. He is real world, for real world users. I know John is very intelligent, and I know he is 'dumbing down' for us mere mortals. John walks you through this incredible camera and it's gazillions of options and systems step by step, simply and wisely. This course was VERY helpful!
This was a well layout class. John has thoroughly explained the features of the em1 mark ii, along with giving real world examples of when and why you would use certain features.
Great course, straight forward, no blablabla. Although I'm quite experienced so far on E-M1 Mark II, I learned a few things (f.i. Menu J1, 2nd entry). Many thanks for the setting to use back button focus !
This class was very helpful. I had the earlier model of the camera the OMDEM1MK1 and the new body the menus had been changed and some of the features are tweaked. John did a good job of explaining some of the vague items in the manual and gave his recommended starting settings. This was probably the fastest way to get up , running and Shooting quickly
When I started to look for a new camera I was drawn to the OM1 but all the reviews complained about the very confusing menu system. I watched Johns class and I had no hesitation in buying the Olympus. Johns class is as essential as the manual, maybe more so. Thanks John.
This class was great way to learn the ins and outs of my camera! I highly recommend John's classes to anyone with a new camera.
Great class! This is my second Fast Start course and I'll get more if the need arises. I found one deficiency - nowhere, to my recollection, is a mention that you need to push the lens's focus ring forward (away from the body) if you want auto-focus (AF)! I was quite frustrated until I read an Olympus tip about setting up the E-M1 for bird photography.
I think this is an excellent course, but what would make it even better is if John allowed us to download the menu he created for himself. That would be such a bonus.
This is exactly what I was looking for - I really feel like I'm not able to control my camera, rather than the camera controlling me! :) I really learned a great deal - some of it was a great review, some of it was crucial information that will (hopefully) make me a better photographer. Thanks for a great class, John!!
This is my first class and... wahou ! I was using an EM-5 for 3 years but I've discovered that I didn't knew how to use it completely. With this class I learn many many things, and understand so many functions as well. I recommend it of course. It would have been nice to get a free extract before buyning the class, because I'm french and wasn't sure to be able to get everything. It's OK, but I think it's a way to make it better.
I have watched several of John's classes. They are all excellent with great detail and clarity. The E-M1 MkII Fast Start is no exception. This course will save you a lot of pain and frustration with the official manual, which is sometimes only understandable when you know what the words are supposed to mean.
An excellent class, very well constructed and delivered by John. I just received my MkII this week and although I have had 2 OMD-E-M1's (I have kept one as my back-up), the MkII is a considerable step up, both in performance and complexity - John's course is just the ticket to help you get the most out of this excellent camera.
Fabulous! John is so clear & easy to listen to - that's saying a lot for a class on a camera as complex as this one. We were glued to the screen throughout, not wanting to miss a word!
I enjoyed and learned a lot by John's class so much so that I bought the class. I have the E-M1 Mk II and the E-M5 Mk II, having traded in the E-M1. I have several other books on them, but the video is better for me.
can't beat john, fully explains what you need to know.
Extremely well run, in-depth class for this camera which worked equally well for a similar model: Olympus OM-D E-M10 II.
I am enjoying the presentation immensely. My first experience with John's classes and he's excellent. It's a no brainer to buy this for anyone using the Olympus E-M1 mk II. I've been using Olympus OM-D bodies since 2012 when they debuted, and have two E-M1 mk1 bodies and just purchased the mk2 model this week. I thought it would be a simple modest upgrade, easy for me to configure, since I feel I'm pretty adept with the mk 1 settings. But I was wrong. This is way more than an upgrade. It's an entirely different camera in many ways and this class has already saved me time in my configuration planning and trying to understand how I'll use this camera alongside my other Mk1 bodies. Thanks for the class. The timing couldn't have been better in my case!
